Off-road adventures for beginners

I really don’t see myself as the typical adventurous off-road person. I’m just a 31 year old single mom with three kids ages 10, 5 and 2. But I have a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4×4. It has a 3″ lift, 31″ Maxxis Buckshot Mudder tires and Craggar Black wheels.

Last year I had a 2000 Mazda MPV minivan. My kids surprisingly enjoyed it since it had a VCR, but they weren’t sad to give it to grandma and grandpa.

In fact, the three of them protect “Princess”. We have named “our” Jeep (XJ) Mud Princess.

I practiced off roading on my best friend’s 26-acre property. He has created several trails around his house along the creek.

The practice helped prepare me for my first real off-road adventure in October of 2007. I was on my way to Windrock located in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. There are 73,000 acres that a mining company has leased.

I met with other XJ owners from Yahoo XJlist, most of them from Kentucky. I managed to show them that a woman in a standard Jeep Cherokee can keep up with the upgraded XJs. She did a couple of teeth and scratches, which is no big deal to me.

When you’re off the road, the troubles of the world are forgotten; otherwise you end up hitting a tree, the side of a hill, or hoping to fall off a cliff/mountain. The adrenaline is impressive. Watching the XJ’ers in front of you climb a challenging trail is exhilarating. When it’s your turn, the adrenaline kicks in.

At Windrock on trail 39, I wowed everyone by making it part of the trail that the rest of the group struggled with with their lifted off-road tires. At Windrock I hadn’t done any modifications, so mine was still just a street-ready Jeep Cherokee.

I then blew them up on trail 16, going up an uphill portion of the trail on the first try, while the veterans took two and three tries.

Nine months later we all met near Harlan, Kentucky on Black Mountain. This time my XJ is modified from the street stock it had been.

I have also brought my oldest daughter, my daughter Shiloh, who is 10 years old. After Windrock’s trip, she was really upset that I didn’t take her, so this is kind of a vacation for both of us.

Me, Shiloh and my best friend Janice got together with her husband and also my best friend Mike. He had come the day before just to hang out with the boys. When I say find us I mean half of the entire off-road map. Trail 45 looks innocent at first as it is the main trail. But as it had rained there was mud and a lot of slipping.

However, it was fun being able to track by myself without the guys around. Eventually we hold them in the bowl. The bowl has numerous ATV and ATV trails. After the guys asked me if she was going, I got Janice to ride with me. She really wanted that adrenaline rush. I have it too

The guys had been kidding me ever since I got a chance to practice a few weeks earlier at Coppinger Cove near Jasper, Tennessee. Mike had me try out what looked like an innocent little hill. I almost did a jump from Dukes of Hazard, that’s why the guys made fun of me.

While I was in Kentucky, it kept raining. The first morning at camp (for us ladies) it rained and rained. We had to modify our plans because some of the trails were going to be extremely difficult, if not dangerous. We were all hoping to go to the Mason Jar area but that had to be canceled as the rocks were going to be too slippery. Mike had mentioned a section all the guys had been on before that would require tying down to keep from falling down the side of the mountain. Since he was slippery from the rain, the boys just didn’t want to take any chances.

Most of us went up trail 15 when it was nice and muddy. Halfway through the first section it was very slippery. It was fun though since I ended up being the last person. Neal, our leader and “expert” was in front of me. After the third leg I made him look bad as I made up all three on the first few tries. Apparently Neal forgot to put his XJ in 4 Low like everyone else had.

One of the things I got a chance to do was try out the beginning of the rock garden. Since I couldn’t get my rock rails on before Kentucky (only one was ready to go), Neal decided to let me try the first part. Hopefully on our next adventure we’ll have the rails down so we can try out a rock garden.

After we got home, some of the guys expressed how they were still amazed that I completed the trails that some of the amateurs struggled with. We all have fun, which is the most important part of Spring Flings and Fall Crawls.

Living in the southeastern part of Tennessee, it’s not unusual to see a lifted XJ or really any lifted SUV or truck with larger tires. For some of us, off-road driving has become a part of life. It is a way to get away for a while from a world that can sometimes be cruel. We get an adrenaline rush that tends to build confidence in a positive way.

Normally it is the men who do everything possible. But for them, seeing a woman doing it makes it even more fun and exciting.

Human Resources Management – All about HRM

Human Resource Management (HRM) is the branch of management concerned with the management of an organization’s most vital resources: the people who, individually and collectively, contribute to the organization’s growth and development. Formerly known as “people management”, HRM is basically concerned with staffing, developing people’s skills, retaining and compensating them according to their individual performance and the requirements of the organization.

The HRM discipline is an academic theory that believes that employees are individuals with different needs and goals, and cannot be considered only as production resources. The discipline takes a positive view of employees and seeks to align their personal goals with those of the organization, leading to the development of the two in synergy. To this end, HRM also seeks to provide employees with the appropriate training and mentoring so that they gain an understanding of the organization’s typical processes and systems.

HRM in modern organizations includes activities related to workforce planning, talent recruitment, induction or onboarding, training and development, and compensation and performance appraisal. HRM can also be extended to cover travel management, employee relations, and employee benefits administration.

At the top level, HRM strategy deals with the best ways to implement HRM policies. While an organization’s HRM policies may cover various aspects, such as recruiting, training, appraisals, and compensation, an overall strategy is required to align all areas of HRM.

Several universities offer programs for the study of HRM. Cornell University created the first institute for the study of HRM at the university level, the School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Since then, several US universities have started courses for the study of HRM. Some of these include the University of Minnesota, Michigan State University, and Ohio State University.

HRM can include jobs that cover general HRM functions or specialized HRM functions. There may be careers just related to recruitment and placement, or there may be positions just training development managers. Compensation and benefits tasks are sometimes handled by compensation analysts or salary administrators.

In addition to the regular graduate universities that offer programs in HRM, there are a host of other courses available for managers who wish to upgrade or take refresher courses to improve career options or simply improve their knowledge of the subject. Postgraduate diploma programs are available at various eminent universities. These deal with new innovations in the field of HRM and familiarize people with the latest developments in the field.

For busy managers, some part-time human resource management courses are also available. These can be served in the evenings or on weekends. A valuable option for those who cannot take time off from their regular jobs, the part-time course curriculum should be carefully considered before the decision to enroll is made. Make sure the syllabus suits your training needs before you enroll. Also, check the reputation of the organization before joining. It is important that you leave the course achieving your goals.

Drug and alcohol rehab programs

There are many rehab programs around the world. They take into account particular characteristics that represent the multitude of personalities of individuals, the cause of the addiction, as well as the chemical that caused it. Regardless of what professionals suggest as effective for drug rehabilitation, all have agreed that nothing is more important than the motivation of the person who is going to follow the program. Motivation means an individual will to successfully move on to another stage of his life, a better one.

How do you know you’re a drug addict? If your whole life depends on taking or not taking a certain chemical (whether legal or illegal drugs), if you wake up in the morning and the first thing that crosses your mind is to get high, if your whole life is a mess because of your drug use, if people around you tell you that you are acting abnormally, if you feel isolated from others due to your decadent life, then it is time for you to change something. This something is going into rehab to get over your addiction. You can choose to become an inpatient or an outpatient, depending on the degree of your addiction. You may need professionals to take care of you not only during the treatment period but also after the treatment, to ensure a successful rehabilitation.

drug rehab programs

There are more types of rehab programs. Choosing the best rehab program for you is crucial because your health, life, and even death may depend on your choice. Here are some alternatives you should think about:
Independent Inpatient Drug Rehabilitation Program: Short-term program for less severe addictions;
Inpatient drug rehabilitation program – rehabilitation unit – for severe physical and mental disabilities;
Inpatient Drug Rehabilitation Program – Detox Unit – This program is usually conducted on an outpatient basis, but sometimes drug or alcohol withdrawal requires extreme measures to prevent relapse. It is important to help patients change their old habits, and this can happen only through a longer-term interruption of the environment where everything reminds them of the urgency to return to the substance of their addiction;
Long-term residential drug rehabilitation program: It is important for those who would easily relapse (youth, chronic addicts, patients with more than one diagnosis, etc.).

detox

Detoxification is the first level of a drug rehab. That means completely withdrawing from drug dependency. This level has two stages: physical detoxification and psychological detoxification. Physical detoxification is achieved by medical specialists who help you remove the substance from your body, heal the damage the substance has done to you, and mitigate the effects of drug withdrawal on your body. Psychological or withdrawal detoxification is perhaps even more difficult, takes time, and failure is sure to relapse. You have to get counseling meetings that can be arranged for individuals, for groups or even for families.
We must not forget that most addictions are based on the psychological problems of individuals: loneliness, unhappiness, hopelessness, etc. However, sometimes the cause can be of physical origin: unbearable pain, physical disability, etc. Unfortunately, relapse remains a major problem for rehab programs, with statistics saying that 75 to 90 percent of drug addicts have relapsed within a year of completing treatment.

Reduce Your Property Tax Bill: A New Year’s Resolution You Can Keep

For many, the start of a new year signals a time to make some kind of change in their lives and become more like their ideal self. For others, January marks the time to make a different kind of change, one that’s much easier to do: cut your property tax bill. The tax appeal process in New Jersey involves a number of steps and using an experienced property tax attorney to guide you through the process will make your New Year’s resolution much easier to follow.

Since New Jersey’s tax appeal season is toward the beginning of the year, lowering your property taxes is a perfect New Year’s resolution. By the end of January each year, all New Jersey homeowners are supposed to receive their annual assessment. That’s the little green card that comes from the tax assessor’s office. Since all properties within a particular municipality in New Jersey are taxed at the same rate, it is the assessment that differentiates one homeowner’s tax bill from another and is the true measure of whether a property is being taxed appropriately. fair or not The period in which an evaluation can generally be appealed in New Jersey is from the time the evaluation is received through April 1 (May 1 if there was a reevaluation or reevaluation).

The first step in understanding if you’re paying too much tax is understanding how your property is valued.

In New Jersey, your appraisal is the value your property was appraised for at the time of the last appraisal. Although the amount at which the municipality values your property changes from year to year, your appraisal generally remains the same. Each year, each municipality in New Jersey is assigned an “equalization rate,” which is intended to reflect the current value of properties in a particular municipality relative to their value in the year of assessment.

You can find your municipality’s compensation ration by calling your city tax assessor or county tax board. It can also be found on the New Jersey Division of Taxation website. The “average ratio” is the percentage of the “true value” that is considered to be your assessment. In other words, divide your appraisal by the compensation rate to get the actual value of your property. This is the number your assessor is actually using to calculate your property tax, not your assessment.

For many people, the decision of whether to appeal their appraisal is easy once they realize the actual value of their property. For others, especially people who have owned property for a long time and haven’t been thinking about buying or selling, the question of whether to appeal an assessment is less clear.

Here are several general rules to keep in mind when deciding whether to appeal your assessment:

  • As your appraisal ages and your match ratio gets lower, there is a greater chance that your appraisal has drifted from the actual value of your property.
  • Conversely, when an equalization rate rises above 100% because property values have fallen (as they have in recent years), that means that, on average, properties are overvalued in those municipalities. The property owner still has the burden of proving that his particular property is overvalued, but an average ratio of more than 100% is a good indicator of overvaluation.
  • When you live in a development or neighborhood where properties are very similar and prices have dropped significantly, your individual property value has likely dropped and your appraisal and equalization rate may not have kept pace.
  • Whenever a property has unique characteristics that make it very different from those nearby, lowering the appraisal is often warranted. For example, a very large older home in a neighborhood of smaller newer homes will often be assessed as a larger home with the characteristics of the surrounding areas. In fact, such houses tend to be more difficult to sell and often warrant lower appraisals.

The next step in the process for individuals is to decide if they want to work with an attorney in this process. While corporations and other legal entities must be represented by an attorney under New Jersey law, a sole proprietor may represent themselves. However, there are very good reasons to consider retaining one:

  • Many attorneys work on a contingency basis, so there are no legal fees unless your taxes are reduced. There are certain fixed out-of-pocket costs paid by the property owner, but the attorney receives a percentage of the tax savings if, and only if, the appeal is successful.
  • An attorney working on a contingency basis must provide a free consultation and do their own independent investigation to determine whether an appeal is likely to be successful. If an attorney doesn’t return calls and take the time to tell her why she thinks her appraisal should be lowered, that’s a sign to look elsewhere.
  • Above all, there is the convenience of having an experienced professional handle your case. You don’t have to worry about any of the rules that can be burdensome and, frankly, arbitrary. (For example, property tax appeals may be dismissed if the petition is not on legal paper.) You do not have to testify at a hearing, which is often unfamiliar and uncomfortable for the landlord.
  • Many people believe that they will get a better result when they are represented by an attorney. This added savings year after year more than offsets the attorney’s fees.

Take, for example, the case of Stephen and Rachel Pineles, who decided to appeal the appraisal of their home in Essex County, New Jersey, in 2010. “My town hadn’t had an appraisal in over twenty years and my appraisal was outrageously high compared to the actual rate. value of my home,” Stephen Pineles said. “Hiring an attorney to handle the property tax appeal was definitely the right decision for me. I didn’t have to worry about anything. Initially, the tax assessor offered a reduction that was quite low. In the end, my attorney negotiated a much better settlement and my property taxes were reduced by over $3,700 or almost 30% of my tax bill.”

As with anything else, there is some risk of appealing your assessment. In New Jersey, if your case is unsuccessful, you will not get your out-of-pocket costs back. Also, under New Jersey law, your appraiser has the right to argue that your appraisal is too low. However, this right is limited to cases where your property is undervalued by 15%. If your property’s appraisal divided by the equalization rate is $100,000, the appraiser can only argue that the appraisal should be increased if he or she can prove that your property is actually worth at least $115,000. If your attorney has done their research well and has determined that there is a good case for lowering your appraisal, it is unlikely to happen.

As the new year begins, in addition to some of the tougher goals and changes people contemplate, it may be worth considering trying to lower your tax bill. It could be one of the easiest and most profitable resolutions you make.

Find success through failure

Fail on your way to success

How many times do you have to fail before you succeed? That’s the million dollar question.

Perhaps the first question should be – How many times have you failed in your life?

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably “failed” more times than you can count. Or more times than you’d like to admit. And how many times have those voices in your head told you “you can’t do that”, “don’t even try, you’ll fail” or “what makes you think you can?”

Or worse yet, do you hear yourself say negative sentences? Those little words with big impact, like “that was stupid,” “I’m such an idiot,” or “why am I so lazy?” Why do we ever say things like this to ourselves in the first place?

We have been programmed, indoctrinated, for over 13 years (from kindergarten through high school) that failure is not okay. Many of us have had that drilled into us for years after high school. Over and over again we are taught to believe that failure is not okay. Failure is underestimated. We are accused of being ashamed when we fail, we are taught to hide our failures and criticize ourselves for past failures. What’s worse, some of these failures turn into fears. These fears can overcome us, become paralyzing and sometimes control us. They become so strong, to the point that we can no longer function or even think properly in front of them. So after all this, how do we get over our fear of failure or our past failures?

First, know that you are not alone.

Let’s be properly introduced to some of the biggest alleged “failures” of all time…

There is Abraham Lincoln, who, in

1830 was demoted. He went from Captain in the Army to Soldier…
1832 lost his job when he was defeated in his bid for state legislature…
1833 failed in business…
1835 his beloved dies…
1836 suffered a nervous breakdown…
1838 was defeated in a race for Speaker of the House…
1843 lost the nomination – sought to run for a seat in Congress…
1848 was a member of Congress and then lost his renomination for Congress…
1849 was rejected for the post of land officer; he was declined an appointment as secretary and then also as Governor of the Oregon Territory…
1854 he was defeated in a race for the United States Senate…
1856 was defeated for the vice president nomination…
1858 he was again defeated in a race for the United States Senate…and just two years later, in
1860 he was elected president of the United States of America.

Talk about a long way. Not just failure in business, but failure over and over again in politics. heartbreak Failure to keep your composure: A nervous breakdown is not something most people want to admit. And yet, President of the United States. One of our most loved and admired presidents…

Do you think Honest Abe is an anomaly? Unique one? Let’s look at someone else.

There is Winston Churchill, who, in

1880 developed a speech impediment…
1885 managed to fail the sixth grade…
1893 failed the military college entrance exam – three times…
1895 he lost his only mother figure when she passed away…
1897 was defeated in the Malakand war…
1899 was defeated in a race for Oldham Parliament; he was captured and even imprisoned in a prisoner-of-war camp in Pretoria…
1904 he finally got a seat in Parliament and ended up losing his seat in Parliament…
1908 he had a seat in the Cabinet and also lost his seat there…
1921 he lost his fourth son, who died at the age of three…
1922 was defeated in a candidacy for Chancellor…
1931 he lost his seat in the Cabinet… and in
In 1940 he became Prime Minister, inspiring British resistance to Adolf Hitler through his steadfast refusal to consider defeat, surrender or compromise. He led Britain in this role until Hitler’s defeat and is “widely recognized as one of the most influential people in British history.”*

Politicians may not impress you.
Perhaps the older figures do not resonate with you.
Have you ever failed at an idea?

Thomas Edison did it. His teachers said that he was “too stupid to learn anything.” In fact, he was fired from his first two jobs for being “unproductive.” As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts to invent the light bulb. How many times are you thankful for that lightbulb, every day?

Maybe you’re not an inventor. But have you ever failed in business?

Henry Ford failed and went bankrupt five times. Five times before being known as one of the greatest car manufacturers of all time.

You don’t like cars? What about sports?

The all-time great Babe Ruth struck out 1,330 times in his career. For a long time he held the record for most home runs, but did you know that for decades he also held the record for most strikeouts? You can’t hit a home run before you strike out: more times than you can count.

Babe wasn’t the only strikeout in town.

Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper editor because “he lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” He filed for bankruptcy several times before building Disneyland. In fact, the proposed park was rejected by the city of Anaheim on the grounds that it would only attract riffraff.

Today, millions of the so-called rabble from around the world venture to Disney theme parks, cruise ships, and resorts.

One more failure to consider, for all those music lovers looking to find success one day in that field:

Beethoven handled the violin clumsily and preferred to play his own compositions rather than improve his technique. His teacher called him “desperate as a composer.” Need I say more?

Perhaps you have heard of these names?

You should know some of them, if not all of them. Why am I doing so much of them? Because all these people learned something that you may not have learned yet. They knew that failure is just one step closer to success.

Thomas Edison said it best when he said, “Many of life’s failures are people who didn’t realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

Are you close to giving up? Too scared to start? Do you want to overcome your fear of failure and learn how to use it to succeed? These 4 easy steps to overcome failure are just for you. Use them to be successful!

1) CELEBRATE FAILURE!

What? Yes, celebrate failure! When you get past your own pride and recognize that failure is part of growing up, then you’re just getting started. Know that failure is part of learning and part of ultimately succeeding. When you can internalize this, true learning will begin, which no school can teach.

Robert Kiyosaki, in his book Rich Dad Poor Dad tells of a conversation he had with his “rich dad”, paraphrased as:
“You will go bankrupt at least 4 or 5 times before you become a millionaire, why not start right away?”

Let’s not waste time celebrating our failures!

2) UNDERSTAND YOURSELF, UNDERSTAND YOUR FAILURES

Evaluate and learn from your past mistakes. If something didn’t work, learn to identify why. In other words, make sure you understand what worked and what didn’t. If you have an understanding why some business failed, then you can learn how to avoid the mistake again and try another method. Change comes from mistakes and change puts you in your path. Don’t repeat your mistakes. It’s not just a cliché when George Santayana said, “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

3) COLLABORATE

Surround yourself with people who allow you to fail.

Don’t you know who it is? Let’s look at an example:

A newly hired Executive Vice President made a horrible business decision for his company. His decision was so bad that it cost the company over $2 million dollars. After all was said and done, he knew he was going to be fired. He waited for the CEO to make the call. When the phone finally rang, he went to the CEO’s office and stood at attention, expecting the inevitable. Unsurprisingly, he was asked by the executive vice president why he made the decision he did. He was asked, “What information did he use?” and “How might the results of the decision be different?” As the meeting drew to a close, the executive vice president was completely confused. He asked, “So you’re not going to fire me?” The CEO responded, “OMG no, I just invested over $2 million dollars into your education!” While that situation is extreme, that CEO is the kind of person he wants around him. The principle is the same: collaborate with people who allow you to fail and appreciate what you have learned from your mistakes.

4) COMMIT
You have to commit to yourself, have an iron will that does not give up! Keep trying, no matter how hard or how many times you fail. Don’t stop with failure. Remember what Edison said: “Many of life’s failures are people who didn’t realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of giving up when overtaken by temporary defeat. Every person is guilty of this mistake.

In the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, there is an illustration about a man who got caught up in the “gold rush” around the time the United States experienced the gold rush. He went west to pursue his dream of getting rich. After weeks of work, he was rewarded with the discovery of the glowing ore. But he needed machinery to bring the ore to the surface. So he went to his house in Williamsburg, Maryland, and told his relatives and some neighbors about the “strike.” They collected the money he needed for the machinery and sent it to him.

The return in gold proved that they had one of the richest mines in Colorado! A few more carts of that ore would pay off the debts. Below were the exercises! Man’s Hopes Raised! Then something happened… the vein of gold ore disappeared! They had reached the end of the rainbow and the pot of gold was no longer there. They drilled, desperately trying to get the vein back again, all to no avail.

Finally, they decided to RESIGN. They sold the machinery to a junk dealer for a few hundred dollars and took the train home. This “junk” man called in a mining engineer to look at the mine and do some calculations. The engineer reported that the project had failed because the owners were not familiar with “fault lines.” His calculations of him showed that the vein would lie ONLY THREE FEET FROM WHERE THE previous man HAD STOPPED DRILLING! That’s exactly where it was found! So the “junk” man took millions of dollars worth of ore from the mine, because he knew enough to seek expert advice before giving up.

When you are committed, you are willing to stand your ground and find people to help you along the way. do not give up

Turn failure into success with these 4 steps:
Celebrate, understand, collaborate and engage

As simple as they are, they are not easy. Sometimes your commitment will be met with anger; if you do, get mad! Let nothing stop you and YOU WILL GET IT!

How to Write Your KSA Answers to Get That Government Job

Today’s volatile economic environment and expected layoffs mean many people will be looking for a new job. For many of you, a US government job can offer security, great benefits, and interesting work. But keep in mind: the competition for these jobs is intense and you have to stand out from all the other applicants to get a placement; that’s where KSA becomes a key opportunity you can use to get that government job.

What is a KSA?

The US Office of Personnel Management maintains a searchable database, called USAJOBS, that lists government job openings. Once you’ve registered online, you’ll find that job openings for specific positions often require you to fill out a detailed job description. Knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) in addition to your resume.

Each job that requires a KSA will have specific KSA questions for you to answer, typically in about a page of written content. This is not an optional task. You must do it and you must do it well. Each KSA response is rated by human resources staff on a scale of 0-20 that reflects how well your knowledge, skills, and abilities match the complexity, impact, variety, circumstances, and interactions that characterize the job. you are requesting. KSAs are often the deciding factor in your evaluation for US government employment. So what are KSAs? According to the CDC help page on KSA:

Knowledge Statements refer to an organized body of information generally factual or procedural in nature that, if applied, makes proper job performance possible. A body of information applied directly to the performance of a function.

skills Statements refer to the skillful manual, verbal, or mental manipulation of data or things. Skills can be easily measured by a performance test in which the quantity and quality of performance are assessed, usually within a set time limit. Examples of competent handling of things are the ability to type or the ability to operate a vehicle. Examples of competent data manipulation are the ability to calculate using decimals; skill in editing transposed numbers, etc.

Ability The statements refer to the ability to perform an observable activity at the present time. This means that the skills have been evidenced through activities or behaviors that are similar to those required on the job, for example, the ability to plan and organize work. Skills are different from aptitudes. The abilities are only the potential to perform the activity.

How should you answer the KSA questions to improve your chances of getting a government job?

The most effective responses to KSA questions reflect your understanding of the job requirements based on a detailed analysis of the job description and typical tasks. You should pay close attention to the keywords used in the job description and use those words to describe your knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Usually, knowledge it is more abstract than skills and therefore can be generalized to many different tasks and responsibilities. Knowledge comes from academic and life experiences including, but not limited to, education and employment. Any knowledge you possess that is relevant to the job you are seeking is something to include in your KSA response.

It is a good idea to brainstorm for yourself and with others what “knowledge” you should claim because you can demonstrate it through your written responses. For example, let’s say the position requires “being able to organize a project.” While your work experience did not give you the opportunity to manage a project, your experience managing a PTA fundraiser for a year, although unpaid, could legitimately be claimed as “experience managing of a project”. It is up to you to describe the knowledge you gained in a way that translates to the job you are applying for.

Think about skills as testable capabilities, that is, understanding how a spreadsheet program can help manage a budget is knowledge; being able to create an excel spreadsheet to track expenses is a skill. Pull the skill requirements from the job posting and offer evidence that you possess those skills. For example, the Pharmacy Assistant position requires knowledge demonstrated by certified training and skills Gained from previous experience delivering medications and working with customers.

How to write an effective KSA response

By answering KSA questions, you are making claims about your knowledge, skills, and abilities. You must then back up those claims with credible evidence. You should develop your KSA answers with two key variables in mind: the relevance of the content and the quality of the presentation. The National Forest Service provides an excellent tutorial on the do’s and don’ts of writing effective KSA responses.

Describe your knowledge, skills, and abilities in terms that directly relate to the job using keywords you pull from the job posting. Then “test” with specific examples what you can do because of what you did in the past and the context in which you did it. Put your compliance with the key requirements of the job at the beginning of the appropriate KSA response or at the beginning of a paragraph. For example: If the job requires an accounting degree, you can first clearly say, “I completed my accounting degree at XYZ University” have to; then go on to describe your experience in accounting tasks.

Numbers can be your friend when it comes to providing evidence to your reviewers. Instead of saying, “I wrote reports” consider saying, “I prepared monthly reports on six field tests with a lead time of two days”.

Knowledge and skills can also be demonstrated by using an overview of your previous responsibilities with examples of specific tasks, describing training or certifications received, and citing awards or recognition for achievement. Reviewers like to see action words in your KSA responses and that requires you to write in an active versus passive voice. You should say: “I analyzed data…” No “The data was analyzed”. You can find an excellent list of action verbs in Job Skills – Power Verbs.

In conclusion, your KSA responses should:

  • be concise
  • be relevant
  • Be specific
  • have quantitative examples
  • Make it easy for reviewers to find your compliance with key job requirements
  • Be action and achievement oriented
  • be well written with NO TYPES and good sentence construction. It’s a good idea to have someone else review his responses before you submit them because sometimes it’s hard to see your own mistakes.

Remember, KSA responses separate those who are qualified for a job from those who are
the majority qualified.

What is the difference between Pelican Natursoft Salt Free Water Softener and NuvoH2O?

If you’re currently considering buying a salt-free water softener, then you’re probably trying to decide between a Pelican Natursoft or the NuvoH2O. Both offer the same benefits but use different methods to reduce water hardness.

Both models of salt-free water softeners offer the same positive results. They eliminate the need for the use of salt. No more spending money on big bags of salt and adding harmful salt water to the environment. You will no longer have high electricity bills, since both do not use electricity. Both prolong the life of your pipes and appliances. Both models do not cause a slimy or slippery feeling like that of salt-softened water.

But both are different when it comes to the method of reducing water hardness. The Pelican Natursoft uses a special medium that causes the calcium carbonate in the water to stick to it, eventually forming large calcium carbonate crystals in the medium until it can no longer stick. These submicron crystals break off from the medium and flow downstream attracting and sticking to other calcium carbonates in the water. These tiny crystals are neutrally charged and cannot stick to pipes or appliances. The pH of the water is not affected and it still contains valuable minerals needed in our daily diet.

The Nuvo H2O uses its patented CitrCharge Cell technology. This method uses food-safe citric acid to break calcium carbonate bonds and prevent scaling. It uses a cartridge to filter the water and usually needs to be changed every 6 months.

Both brands offer warranties for their salt-free water softener models. Pelican Natursoft offers a 5-year manufacturer’s defect warranty and a 10-year manufacturer’s defect warranty, including bypass valves, tank heads, and all filter housings. The Nuvo H2O offers a 90 day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied and a lifetime warranty.

Advantages and Disadvantages of PC to Phone VoIP

Nowadays technology is developing very fast. Internet connection is widespread all over the world. There are many possibilities to make international calls. Saving money is the main factor to consider when making calls abroad.

VoIP technology and software are good solutions. To find the best VoIP software, you need to try and evaluate different solutions.

The main criteria to consider when looking for the right VoIP software are:

reliability, trust

convenience

Simplicity in use

affordability

Credibility

Long distance calls can be made for low rates and you can call other VoIP users for free. Those who travel a lot will really appreciate this possibility. They can often make calls simply by using the laptop that has an Internet connection. VoIP account can be accessed just like email from anywhere in the world. A nice bonus is that your bill can be viewed online and is easier to understand and track.

The software program is easy to use, just like your phone, but on your PC. The program is installed and then all you have to do is dial the number and make the call. The important fact is that you can talk much longer than on the traditional phone and pay less.

Like any VoIP service it has its own drawbacks. Let’s see some disadvantages of PC service for phone calls.

Power outages

In this case when there are power outages, VoIP phones cannot be used, they are basically useless, and this is the big disadvantage.

Emergency calls

Not all providers offer this option and some of them do not support emergency calls.

Latency and loss of service

Latency is a problem, sometimes it shows up during calls. This will make communication quite difficult and even irritating. This really annoys you when you’re trying to make an important call and the person can’t hear you on the other end of the phone. Worse still, listen to the answer to the first questions from him, when he already asked you several more and this is really confusing.

Any decision that has to be made must be well thought out and meditated, or rather contemplated. If you decide to install a VoIP software, choose the one that is most clear to you. The preconfigured softphone is a good solution. There is no need to enter many required parameters. Everything is already complete.

Homemade carp boilies catch more fish, especially when potent bioactive sweeteners are exploited!

Many carp anglers try to achieve above average catches using prepared baits and fail. It is a great shame and yet it is a huge problem and I know that the bait industry fails anglers all over the world. All the hype cannot hide the fact that average anglers using off-the-shelf baits make only ordinary catches the vast majority of the time! It may seem strange, but all the guys I know who make their own homemade baits are the best rods in the waters they fish in. One big reason is that they alone are exploiting their totally unique bait recipes with absolutely zero competition from any other anglers using the exact same bait! This is an incredibly powerful perk! Some powerful bait recipes and sweetener secrets are revealed here!

Certain receptors in carp are particularly sensitive to sweet substances. Carp feel the glucose hit from broken aquatic plants, for example, but get little instant hit of energy from many of their natural foods, even though they do catabolize a proportion of their more abundant protein-rich foods for energy. I have used glucose syrup for years; What makes more sense than exploiting the energy fuel that carbohydrates break down internally?

Nutritionally, food and bait is basically about life energy. And without this for cellular respiration, organisms die! Even at the microscopic level of single-celled bacteria, their survival and multiplication can stop altogether when one aspect of the energy supply or energy release mechanism is stopped; so sweeteners are addictive to fish and humans. I see both as incredibly organized networks of individual cells that are inherently self-intelligent organisms.

It makes sense that the roof of the carp mouth is teeming with concentrations of palace receptors that especially help carp detect and instinctively decide to simply taste objects and solutions or repeatedly consume them, or avoid them! Feedback to brain receptors signals motor impulses from carp to muscles, etc. to continue feeding (or not). It is based on the biological vital need and energy value at that moment, or the physiological impacts, etc. that has a substance detected in an individual fish. Genetically individual fish and different strains are more sensitive to certain sweeteners; therefore feat multiple sweeteners not just Talin! (Avoid aspartame and Splenda, they are toxic!)

Baits containing a mixture of sweeteners are likely to be tasted more than once by an individual fish or by more than one fish on multiple occasions; leading to more hooked fish! Talin is a brand name for thaumatin B, a protein sweetener from the African katemfe fruit (yes, fruits do contain protein!) Talin improves the palatability of the bait, causing them to be consumed more repetitively, thus increasing their Possibilities for more connections. Curiously, it masks and bitters the flavors; many popular fish flavors are bitter!

Talin seems to replicate a type of signal that nerves do naturally, so I think this is one of the reasons it’s so potent. I would call certain forms of betaine sweeteners, not just true dietary triggers.

Glycerin (glycerol) is well proven beyond just as a flavor base. It is a low glycemic index calorie source that contains more calories than sugar with unlimited ability to mix with water; absolutely ideal for dispersing bait substances in solution! Natural vanilla terpenes and synthetic sweet flavors are also sweeteners… I would say that sweetened sweetened oils are also addictive substances, including bulk sweetened oils and also evaporated and condensed milks. Geranium and anise oils are tasted sweet, as is deliberately sweetened garlic oil. Cinnamon oil is overlooked for sweet baits!

Natural sugar sweeteners like honey cause a spike in blood sugar and an instant hit of energy in the body! This spike in blood sugar creates a surge of uric acid and a surge of glutamic acid in the bloodstream, which relaxes muscle tension in the body. This is an addictive effect of many drugs, eg opiates, cocaine, etc.; it is the addictive ‘relaxing high’ effect of nicotine and the effect of processed beers on the body. Beer hops are from the same family as Cannabacea (hemp and cannabis). Bioactive components have similar effects after breakdown in the body (marijuana can be grafted onto hops!)

Carrot and beet juice concentrates are naturally bioactive sweeteners. Lactose (milk sugar), whey protein, casein, 5 pints of dry milk, Vitamealo, etc. they have other internal effects on humans and carp besides sweetness, taste and smell. Be aware that many substances, such as milk, are highly stimulating in solution and when consumed, even if they cannot be fully digested naturally within the body! Many internal effects of sweeteners have nothing to do with sweetness, such as the immunity-boosting compounds in honey and its other protective antioxidant substances that science has yet to identify! See how many sweeteners are actually addictive or temporarily habit forming even when used at low levels?

The secrets of the baits are not only about what is currently used, but about how the substances work, how they are applied, what they are used with, how they internally impact the vital functions and processes of the carp, how they react with water and how others improve. bait substances in many ways when in solution and in contact with fish receptors etc.

Many sweetening agents increase the action of water penetration into baits, thus promoting a much more beneficial production of concentrated bait substances in solution; Which carp detects more easily! This is a vital point, especially when considering substances to include in cold water baits! Fall is a great time to make new homemade baits and move away from poorly performing pre-made baits that already have wary fish around them; By definition, this is any ready-made bait that has previously hooked fish! Remember that the baits used by anglers directly program and condition the behaviors of the fish so that they are very suspicious of the baits that have hooked them.

Conversely, when fish experience a bait that has never hooked them before, what do you think the fish’s response is? Fish feed much more reliably on a totally new food source and, in real opposition to the HNV theory about baits, I have had more big fish catch a totally new homemade bait in the water each session than setting HNV baits from the highest quality. That has been my experience of 35 years of carp fishing. Earlier in the year few anglers were short on HNV baits so that made a big difference, but guess what, these days everyone and their dogs are fishing for HNV baits so their edge is badly run down. In fact, so many anglers struggle or achieve average results with the popular off-the-shelf HNV baits, it’s ridiculous!

My e-book readers outperform prepared baits such as Mainline Cell boilies and others in all UK and overseas waters. The activity of the enzymes in such baits is certainly not the ultimate answer to getting the most bites, as they can actually limit the fish’s reactions to the bait. Many ready-to-use baits are claimed to be the ultimate bait, but the next month or year another bait from that company is released and promoted to replace the previous ultimate bait.

See the truth that there is no ultimate bait because fish will always respond in fear to these ultimate baits by being hooked with off the shelf baits that are mindlessly used by the pack to try and get above average results! Trying to get above average results using off the shelf baits that are used by the average angler in the pack is insane; you just lose all competitive advantages altogether!

Begin to think logically and sensibly; Start with a brand new and totally unique homemade bait you have made and your fish will have no reason to distrust them. You keep all the competitive advantages and all the secrets about the modes of action of your bait recipe, the ingredients, the flavors used and much more; Think about it! Ruby Bridges, Barbara Anderson, Mrs. Ackerman and myself

We recognize Ruby Bridges for her life’s work as a civil rights leader and activist; we find an unsightly caricature of Ruby’s historic walk through an angry, snarling crowd with new education secretary Betsy DeVos depicted as Ruby. This depiction exemplifies how little understanding of racial discrimination has been achieved in America.

Had it not been for racial subjugation, Ruby Bridges would not have needed an escort by federal marshals to attend a hitherto segregated public school in New Orleans. Had it not been for racial animosity, Barbara Henry would not have taught her in an isolated setting; whose integrity of hers led her to provide this brave girl with the best education she could provide. That teacher Barbara Henry and her student Ruby of hers represent the best of the American heritage. This Bridges experience is also captured in a retrospective titled “Lasting Impact,” which summarizes the historical effect of this heroic act.

Today, segregation is illegal in the United States and no longer occurs. A great deal of racism has left our society, however, not all of it has been eliminated. Hopefully, one day, racism will be a topic only talked about in history textbooks.

DeVos’s cartoon of Bridges is a classic of American culture. This cultural practice is summarized in the following quote from “Fixing Racial Representations of African-Americans at the World’s Columbian Exposition, Chicago, 1893” by Bridget Cooke. This excerpt explains why stereotypes are used to minimize the positive reality of African Americans. The whites created the culture of segregation largely to counter the success of the blacks, to mythologize absolute racial difference, to stop the uprising. Racial essentialism, the conception of sets of personal characteristics as biologically determined racial identities, grew in popularity among whites along with the rise of the new black middle class and its increasing visibility, especially in the cities.

This American legacy extends to me too, in Los Angeles, California, where I was born. I am over a decade older than Ruby but attended integrated schools. I too received encouragements from my loving family as well as key teachers along my way.

At John Muir Junior High School, where I attended school, someone always managed to free me from my bus ticket book, leaving me with a mile walk to school. Enter my Barbara Henry, Mrs. Ackerman. Mrs. Ackerman was my science teacher who was a German immigrant. She met me on my way to school and offered me that much appreciated ride to school.

Then she would allow me early access to her classroom. During these morning sessions, she taught me a means of recognizing my own exceptional intelligence through a mini astronomy lesson in which she gave me an eagle’s eye view of my ability to extrapolate. I would leave John Muir and graduate cum laude from a class of 1200. This led to a scholarship to college.

In the fifty-eight years since these mornings with Mrs. Ackerman, I have demonstrated my passion for this American heritage in service to students and staff in a way that has led to:

First woman of my color to become a high school principal in the state of Colorado

Winner of the following distinctions

Milken National Educational Leader

Outstanding Person in Colorado State Schools

educator of the year

Election to the School Board the first of my color and female in more than 140 years

Post Retirement:

Harvard Scholarships

More to count. For now thanks colleagues Ruby, Barbara, Mrs. Ackerman
