The old lion ((Final chapter story to: "The Expired Plantations) (2002))

Ly, now a very old lady, 102 years old, survived the war years, as she had told her friends, over and over again: “Wars are won at will, and they are also lost that way, they are lost.” find the root.” and hits the will.” She has an old stiff upper lip, from hating that nephew of hers, the one who died some thirty years ago, Danh, she even survived him, she says, “Some battles are won just by waiting for the other person , not taunting him, they can see it coming.” She knows he wasn’t named Ly for nothing (Vietnamese for Lion). But back to Danh, he was her antagonist, if she ever had one. She called him “The Bad Seed” or “The Bad Apple… there’s one in every bunch…!” among other names. She doesn’t miss him, but she does miss An, her brother, the one she killed, like Cain and Able.

After they left the boys in ’79, and left for her to raise, Danh went crazy, he had become a big fan of drugs, taking them even in public. Lots of people in the neighborhood had been tricked by him, lots of nasty stories. He had told his neighbors, if not a hundred times, “I really loved him at first, and then I liked him as much as I could.” And she meant what she said.

But here she is sitting, in that same old kitchen, now it’s 2002, at the same old table, the same one she had thirty years ago, not forty years ago or so, she bought it ten years before those two girls. , Zuxin and Ming, tricked her into taking the children, oh, she doesn’t blame them, they didn’t have any of her blood on them anyway. But she’s sitting there, with a beer, spinning the glass in a circle with her hands, wondering, I guess, how she got through those hard days with Danh. One thing is for sure, she no longer hesitates to get up and see who comes in the front door and runs out the back if it’s Danh, she’s been dead a long time. She no longer smokes cigarette after cigarette either, wondering when she might come back.

She is playing with her hands now, thinking: he was like a wolf. Like the plague, she had asked him to leave once, but he never did. But what he hated the most, even more than punishing and robbing her, was killing those filthy rats: let me explain this, the way she told her neighbors:

I’d take rats, yes, rats, I’ll never know where you got them, maybe along the river bank, I’d take half a dozen rats, or one or two, as many as you could carry in a sack, and take them into the house, towards the sink, a heavy butcher block was always there, by the edge of the sink, he would put the rat one at a time, on top of the block and put waxed paper in the sink, then he would take the butcher knife, the heaviest he had , kind of a stubby thing, but it had a thick, solid wooden handle, it cut right through the bone and meant to butter, or clean the skin. he played with the rat a bit, he grabbed it by the tail, the rat tried to get free, scattering all four on the block, then with the butcher knife over his head, he brought it down hard, then everything… What he heard was a strong blow, when the knife hit the block. Then he would hold the headless rat by its feet, over the sink, still squirming for a moment, and watch the blood drain from his body. He would do this to any and all rats, one to six, whatever number he had.”

The One Minute Manager – Book Review

Title: The One Minute Manager

Author: Kenneth Blanchard, Ph.D. and Spencer Johnson, MD

– are the authors of Who Has Taken My Cheese?

Chapters: 16

Pages: 111

The Symbol: Modern digital clock showing 1 minute as a reminder to take the time to look at the people you manage and know they are your best resource.

Characters:

1. Bright young man

2. The One Minute Manager

3. Mr. Trenell – One Minute Goal Setting

4. Mr. Levy – A Minute of Praise

5. Mrs. Brown – One Minute Reprimand

6. Mrs. Metcalfe – Secretary

Introduction:

Almost everything you do with the people you manage should take a maximum of one minute. That would be the first thought you would have when reading the book. But once you’re done, of course, it doesn’t mean literally a minute. It just means you shouldn’t take extra time to get things done when you’re efficient enough. Matters that require more than a minute should still be dealt with accordingly. It’s the little time you spent with your people at the right time that makes all the difference. This is well presented with the three One Minute Management guides explained in the book: One Minute Goal Setting, One Minute Praise, and One Minute Reprimand. It is very important that you follow these guidelines directly where necessary to get the right result to ensure better people management skills. Most managers, as mentioned at the beginning of the book, do not apply them and tend to exaggerate. Let’s take goal setting in a minute… if a leader takes the time to prepare each member and the entire team with this, then everyone will be on the same page and won’t need to be sidetracked throughout the production. It would be an easy reference to what they are expected to produce as it would be straight to the point. Following the explanation below by the character Mr. Trenell. The same with Praise of a minute, highlighting the action necessary to strengthen or emphasize the desired output and the maintenance of it, explained by the character Mr. Levy. And most importantly, ensuring that behavior in the workplace that should not be tolerated is spelled out in how Ms. Brown’s character should handle it.

Mr. Trenell – One Minute Goal Setting

has. Agree your goals

b. See what good behavior looks like

vs Write each of your goals on a single sheet of paper using fewer than 250 words.

d. Read and reread each objective, which requires only a minute or so each time you do it.

me. Take a minute from time to time to observe your performance and

F. See whether or not your behavior matches your goal.

Mr. Levy – A Minute of Praise

has. Tell people up front that you will let them know how you are doing.

b. Praise people right away.

vs. Tell people what they did right, be specific.

d. Tell people how good you feel about what they did well and how it helps the organization and the other people who work there.

me. Stop for a moment of silence to let them “feel” how good you feel.

F. Encourage them to do more of the same.

gram. Shake hands or touch people in a way that makes it clear that you support their success in the organization.

Mrs. Brown – One Minute Reprimand

has. Tell people in advance that you will let them know how you are doing and in no uncertain terms. (the first half of the rebuke)

b. Suppress people immediately.

vs. Tell people what they did wrong, be specific.

d. Tell people how you feel about what they did wrong, and in no uncertain terms.

me. Pause for a few seconds of awkward silence to let them feel how you feel.

F. Shake his hand or touch him in a way that lets him know that you are honestly on his side.

gram. Remind them how much you value them.

H. Reaffirm that you think well of them but not of their performance in this situation.

I. Realize that when the rebuke is over, it is over.

Conclution:

The book was written by authors who also wrote “Who Moved My Cheese?”, just like the book that has enough pages to explain its goal, which is people management and the value of people too. It keeps the reader on the edge of her seat, almost making her feel like it only takes a minute to read the book. It could be highly recommended that managers read the book to decrease the time spent managing people and more to get results the right way without increasing too much pressure, rather than increasing the employee’s initiative to do things right.

bowling alleys

“Bowling alley”, “Bowling Center”, “The Bowl”, and “House” are used interchangeably to describe the building where the bowling alley takes place. Bowling alleys are usually understood by many lanes (up to 100 or more), but may be understood by only a few lanes. Some people have a lane at their house, whereas I wouldn’t consider it a bowling alley, per se; it is in the most literal sense one. A single lane is sometimes known as a bowling alley. For the purposes of this book, a bowling alley or house will refer to a place where there are multiple lanes and games are purchased.

Where are the bowling alleys?

They are everywhere. Lately it seems like a lot more homes are closing down due to property and maintenance prices becoming too expensive or lack of use. By looking in the local phone book, you should be able to find quite a few houses in your area. Bowling is a very popular sport and therefore there are many bowling alleys in most areas. If you can’t find one where you live, check the nearest city or large town, there’s bound to be one just a short drive from where you live.

A large bowling arena was recently built in Reno, NV (United States). If you want to see a really big house, that’s the place to go. If you get a chance to bowl there, it’s really amazing! I have bowled there on several occasions and have enjoyed it very much. The PBA (Pro Bowlers Association, see Chapter 9) has tournaments there, as well as the USBC. Some of the tournaments I know of from that bowl are PBA, USBC Nationals, USBC Mixed, and High Roller. This stadium was built expressly for the purpose of hosting large bowling tournaments, and no leagues are allowed in it. It also has a very large Pro Shop (place to buy bowling supplies), which even has a bowling alley so you can see everything. They will videotape your gameplay and help you figure out what you need to improve. It’s pretty impressive.

bowling center design

Most bowling alleys will have a desk (where games are purchased), a bar, an arcade, at least one meeting room, a babysitting room, and of course, lanes! Many houses also have a professional shop.

The desk is usually located somewhere near the center of the house, and the bar is usually not far from it. For most bowlers, that’s all they need to know about a bowling alley right there! Drinking and bowling go hand in hand for many players (though not me). It is not a mistake that the bar is centralized in the bowling alley. The game room is usually centralized in the bowling alley as well, most often containing pool tables, video games, and pinball machines.

Meeting rooms can be anywhere in the bowling alley and hold anywhere from 25 to 100 people. The meeting rooms are used for league meetings, receptions, birthday parties, etc… Most of the time, one of the rooms will have toys and things for the kids. This room is generally used for the care of the bowlers’ children. Most bowling alleys offer free babysitting for children as young as 7 or 8 for league bowlers. This is very useful when you are bowling.

Pro shops are very popular in bowling alleys. Inside the pro shop you can find almost anything you need to bowl, from balls and bags to shoes, brushes and powder or resin. You can even get advice from a “pro”. Most pro shops are owned by a professional bowler or have a pro on staff. Be warned though, not all of the people who work in the pro shop are professionals, and not all of them necessarily have your best interest at heart. There are plenty of things to buy and if you’re shopping for gear, make sure you talk to someone who knows your game. Buying bowling equipment isn’t as simple as getting a ball and shoes (more on this in Chapter 3).

Who do I call?

The first person you are likely to run into at the bowling alley is the person at the desk. This is the person behind the desk who will take your money and assign you a lane. This is also the person who is your main contact at the bowling alley in case something happens. If you spill a drink, your ball gets stuck in the return, or whatever… you have to contact the receptionist and tell him what you need.

League bowlers usually go through the league secretary to get things done in the house. The league secretary usually has slightly more influence than the individual bowler, as he represents an entire league of bowlers (and thus a large amount of revenue for the bowling centre).

There are two other people you might run into at the bowling alley. The Porter is the person who cleans the lanes, recovers dead balls, dead wood, corrects scores, and just about anything else that needs to be done on the client side of the lanes. The mechanic is the other person you may run into. He probably won’t come into direct contact with them; they are the person who works in the back of the alley, restarting bowling alleys, fixing the machines and making sure everything runs smoothly. They are also usually the ones to grease the lanes (more on that later).

Keep bowling and having fun!

american insurrection

According to the dictionary, an insurrection is a violent uprising against an authority or government. We’ve only seen a little bit of violence to date, it’s hard to tell what time will bring. The very popular Wikipedia says that an insurgency is a rebellion against authority when those who participate in the rebellion are not recognized as belligerents. That definition seems to fit a little better to what is happening in the United States.

Oakland, California Mayor Libby Schaaf was recently notified by ‘credible sources’ of an upcoming Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid on her city. So the good mayoress did what any unrecognized belligerent would do…she notified her community members of the coming raid. She told Fox News that she did not do it to “panic” her residents but to “protect” them.

In her defense, she is from California, she is following the example of the Marxist leader, Governor Brown, who has declared all of California a sanctuary state. Makes you wonder where our Attorney General, Mr. Sessions, is on the subject? It would appear that both are committing serious crimes. Let’s take a look at some federal statutes.

8 US Code § 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii)

Any person who, knowing or with reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of the law, conceals, harbors, or protects from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or protect from detection detection, such a foreigner in any place, including any building or any means of transportation, shall be punished as provided in (B).

The keywords here would seem to me to be, well, the whole paragraph. Let’s see what it says below (B)?

8 US Code § 1324(a)(1)(B)(ii)

A person who violates (A) shall, for each alien with respect to whom such violation occurs in the case of a violation of (A)(ii), (iii), (iv) or (v)(II) ), be fined under title 18, imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both.

My God, if those two were punished for ‘every’ alien helped, they’d be under jail, not in it. My question is, what photos do you have of Jeff Sessions that prompt you to recuse yourself from the epic Russia investigation, drag your feet over the myriad of Clinton scandals, and when it comes to Sanctuary States and Cities… the cat? he got the tongue out of it.

President Trump’s surprise victory was fueled by a disgruntled majority that had had enough; we were all deplorable. When he said ‘Drain the swamp’ we all cheered. Then we went back to see the Bachelor; now we are gearing up for the office pool and March Madness. Now we better look up from the big screen, our president is waist deep in the swamp, fighting Marxist creatures on all sides and the Deep State minions are plugging the holes as fast as he opens them. We are in trouble friends.

As we pass the time on Pinterest, the left continues to march. It’s like a story I heard years ago about a bacon and eggs breakfast. When you think about it, the chicken contributed to the meal, but the pork was compromised. Newsflash, the Marxist, leftist, Democratic, and progressive cabal is compromised. We are in the midst of a full-blown insurgency driven by the totalitarian world government people. Are you going to contribute to our failure or are you totally committed to saving the Republic? Nothing less will do.

Five interesting facts about the USC Trojans and Los Angeles Rams quarterback Pat Haden

Pat Haden had a relatively short NFL career, but he was a memorable player. He starred at the University of Southern California, winning two national championships and reaching three Rose Bowls, including being named co-MVP of the 1975 Rose Bowl. He then had a productive career in the pros before turning to broadcasting, earning his law degree and eventually returning to the University of Southern California as the school’s athletic director.

Here’s a look at five interesting facts about Pat Haden.

#1 – He liked it warm and sunny

Although originally from New York, Pat Haden played virtually all of his soccer for teams in Southern California. He played high school football in La Puente, California, college football at the University of Southern California, and professional soccer with the Southern California Sun of the World Football League and the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League.

#2 – On a roll!

Haden rushed for four touchdowns during his rookie season, all of which came in back-to-back games. He scored one every week ten, eleven, twelve and thirteen of the 1976 season.

#3 – Go Deeper Ron!

Los Angeles Rams receiver Ron Jessie caught Haden’s first NFL touchdown pass. He came in a win over the Atlanta Falcons and went for 47 yards.

#4 – He liked to score right before the half

Pat Haden threw 52 touchdown passes during his NFL career. He threw 23 of them in the second quarter, more than he threw in any other quarter of the game.

#5 – Bring on New Orleans!

Haden threw more touchdown passes against the New Orleans Saints than against any other NFL team.

In "Area"

I recently had the pleasure of being on “The Zone!” Personally, I have to say that it was nice to be there. What is “The Zone”?

Well, you’ve heard of athletes talking about being in “The Zone”, that magical place where everything falls into place. The physical and mental processes are working in coordination, and everything is happening correctly. In any competitive athletic sport, the professional athlete trains and works hard for those special moments. With a golfer, it’s that moment when the body posture, the grip on the golf club, the position of the ball on the tee is just right. The golfer looks down the fairway and visualizes the ball’s flight path, distance, and where the ball is going to land. The golfer looks back at the ball and finds that split second of absolute peace and concentration. The golfer swings the perfect arc and arm position, then lowers the club towards the ball. The clubface hits the ball in the perfect position and the ball follows the same path that the golfer envisioned. This is what it’s like to be in “The Zone!”

The same can be applied to programming and writing. As a programmer, it’s that moment when everything starts to make sense. Here’s how it works: You’re on a tight schedule and under pressure to deliver a complete build of your software. You force yourself to stay focused on the tasks at hand. It has everything in position for productivity. Energy drink and snack next door. Your favorite code-boot music blaring on your headphones. The chair is in the perfect position for productivity and you have the appropriate books and notes on your desk. You launch all the right software tools on your computer, and if you’re lucky enough to have two monitors or computers, you’ve got a browser on one screen for doing Google searches. you dive. It takes a good hour or two to really get going. Then everything starts to click! It has several open source modules at the same time. Global and local variables are all in your head, and you know what their current values are as you go through your code. You come up with a way to reduce 20 lines of code to 3, without affecting performance. And you just discovered a new algorithm to get the desired functionality into your program. The music is still playing in your headphones but you can’t hear it anymore. Instead, variables, data, and formulas dance in your mind and out through your fingers. You write like mad trying to follow the flow of ideas, fearing that the slightest interruption or pause will make the images disappear. And then it happens! You hit the wall! You find yourself looking at the screen for almost half an hour and nothing has been written. Your brain just shuts down. You think you’ve only been working for a few hours, but then you realize you’ve just spent 18 hours directly on the computer.

So, now you crash. You take something to eat and then you go to bed. But 4-6 hours later, you wake up. As soon as it is up, the ideas, variables, data and algorithms will appear again. You can’t wait to get back to your computer and start coding again. This rhythm continues, for days, until you finally reach your goal, or RL (real life) gets in the way and forces you to take a break. Or in the most severe cases, your body and mind scream “Enough!” and you crash for 20 hours straight.

I can feel all of you nodding your heads in agreement. It’s almost like a drug. You get so wrapped up in creativity and coding output that you forget about everything else. It’s a great way to forget about RL. It can actually be refreshing! But at a cost: family and friends forget who you are. You walk away from your desk for a nature break and they look at you like you’re from another planet. But then, not shaving, washing, and wearing the same clothes for several days in a row goes a long way toward getting that kind of look. Also, it’s not healthy. Sitting in the same position for so long makes you prone to blood clots and other types of medical problems. Finding the right balance is the challenge.

My recent experience has been while working on a Java application for Blackberry devices. A very tight deadline, made worse by the fact that I was adding functionality to someone else’s code, and it was my first time working for the Blackberry platform. (Non-standard API! Argh!) But once I got into “The Zone”, it was great!

I don’t recommend going there very often. As with any other addictive activity, excess can lead to personal, social, and physical problems. Find the right balance. Learn to walk away regularly. Get up for a few minutes and walk around, at least once every two hours. Have some healthy snack foods on hand: apples, carrots, celery, and nuts. (Yes, I like crunchy things during programming.) If you’re drinking energy drinks (I prefer anything Hansen’s), make sure you have plenty of water to drink as well. But don’t overdo the energy drinks! A bad case of shakes won’t help you write code! And if you’re under a lot of pressure and stress, make sure you spend at least an hour a day doing some form of exercise. You’ll be surprised how increasing blood flow in your body can help prepare your head for more programming, especially when you have a difficult code problem to overcome. And for your family and close friends, be sure to let them know that you still love them and will be back shortly, and follow up on your commitments to them. My personal philosophy is faith, family, friends, finances, and then fun. (The financial part = work.) Everyone has their own.

So visiting “The Zone” is great. It’s geeky, nerdy and nowadays, even a bit trendy. Just remember not to stay there and go outside for fresh air from time to time.

Sidewalk Training

Much of the frustration with sales training today is that some of the salespeople who need it most don’t apply training in the field. They seem to understand the training, but still make the self-defeating mistakes that have become habits. They can answer all the training questions correctly in class, they excel in role plays and exercises, but they do not improve in front of the client.

The assumption is that sales training has failed; however, when we evaluate sales professionals, they have learned the principles.

The problem is that we want “results”, not just well “trained” salespeople.

Why preseason “training camp” works.

Right now, the NFL is busy preparing for the regular season. They do it every year to introduce new plays and techniques, train new players, and bolster the skills of veterans.

Players do a lot of classroom training at each camp. They spend their time studying playbooks, watching movies, discussing strategies…then they go out on the field and bump into each other for a couple of hours. So where does the learning happen? The most important part of learning occurs when the trainer observes the correct exercises and techniques.

When Bruiser makes a footwork error, the coach can stop the play, correct Bruiser, and then replay the exact situation until Bruiser gets it right.

The classroom theory ends when the pads are turned on and the work in the trenches of the camp begins. By the time the regular season rolls around, the team is ready. But the training continues, before, during and after each match. Improving never ends.

What lessons can we learn from the NFL’s coaching methods?

Training begins in the classroom.

Players must understand the game plan before they are expected to carry it out. Motivational training has no place in the classroom until the player has mastered the skills. The most motivated, dedicated, hardworking and “inflated” player will be physically and mentally destroyed, if he does not have the skills to act! (Rotation begins with people being told to “hold on” and then given nothing to “hold on to”).

Classroom training should be principled, skill-focused, specific, and realistic. All successful training is based on a set of principles that support the corporate strategy or philosophy. The seller needs to understand the correct address. Are we taking a long-term consultative approach or are we selling on price in the hope of capturing volume? (ie street vendors sell boxes; sales professionals sell solutions that help the customer make more profit).

The salesperson then needs to understand basic sales skills. How will the seller establish a favorable selling relationship? How will you ask open-ended questions that uncover customer needs? How will you ask questions that make the customer see the value of a solution, before the salesperson requests the order? How will the sales professional deal with premature pricing questions? How will he or she ask for a commitment?

In your industry, training needs to be very specific. The foodservice sales professional needs to understand how the product applies to the customer’s menu, how it will work in the customer’s kitchen. Specific training should address how product knowledge is used in sales situations, ensuring the closer is responding to customer needs rather than pushing boxes.

Realistic training focuses on sales situations and events that will occur every day in the field, not vague generalities. The salesperson needs to work and learn from case studies and role plays based on real sales challenges. These training techniques help the salesperson recognize and understand how sales principles apply to actual field experiences.

Overcoming and good habits begin in the field.

Just like NFL players, our players will get the most meaningful learning experience when they’re on the field, looking the customer in the eye. As you watch this year’s soccer games, take a close look at what’s going on, on the sidelines. You’ll see position coaches frankly engaged in lively training sessions with their players. Coaches will build plays or physically show players how to handle blocking and tackling situations.

Your players need the same type of training on the field. And you can provide that training while the experience is fresh in their minds and just before they practice the new idea or skill on the next sales call. We call this “curbside” training, and it can be the most productive learning experience a sales professional will ever have.

Sell them on improvement.

The best sales coaches recognize that the greatest opportunity to improve sales skills is in the front seat of the sales professional’s car. Our job here is first to get the student to recognize what went right and what went wrong on the last sales call. The best way to do this is to ASK them rather than TELL them. It’s like selling; things go better, when we ask the customer what he needs, instead of trying to tell him what he needs.

Immediately after the call, the manager can begin coaching by asking, “Tell me, what do you think went right?” This gives the sales representative a chance to talk about the successes of the call. If he or she can’t think of anything that went well, then you should. People need to know what they are doing right so they can keep repeating those things. Here the manager has the obligation to reinforce the strengths of the sales representative, recognizing a good job.

Next, the closer needs to acknowledge what isn’t working, so the coach will ask a question like, “What do you think could have been improved on the call?” This gives the sales rep a chance to talk about what went wrong on the sales call. This is where coaching skills are most important and it is very practical, but it is not “constructive criticism”. The coach who constantly focuses on player failures is doing little more than frustrating the player.

Again, instead of telling them all the things to do, ask “What do you think you should do differently next time?” This allows the sales representative to think of options for improvement. It allows them to think and develop their own recipes for a cure.

You may develop a response that the trainer finds unacceptable. When this happens, there is a tendency for the manager to rush into the “correct” answer. This is counterproductive, imagine telling the buyer that he shouldn’t use a particular technique to do his job. Instead, tell the representative, “That’s one option, what else could you try?” This gives the sales rep a chance to think again, instead of defending his or her first ideas.

Coaching should be an experience that the salesperson and coach look forward to, not an experience to be avoided. The training is conversational and non-threatening. It is a discussion about improving and growing. It’s an opportunity to take education in the classroom and make it work in the field.

Your training can be three times more effective.

Studies by the American Society for Training and Development find that 70% of actual job skills learning happens on the job. They estimate that face-to-face training only accounts for 30% of learning. And experienced NFL coaches seem to agree, for 100% effectiveness we need to do both sides of the workout.

Soccer Betting Tips: The Quick Sports Betting Beginner’s Guide To Understanding Soccer Betting

If the sportsbook is full of action, it must be football season. Whether it’s the NFL or the NCAA, the football betting action is fast and furious throughout the season. For the novice sports bettor, it may seem a bit confusing, but soccer betting really boils down to two types: straight bets and combination bets.

Soccer Betting – Straight Betting

Here is the workhorse for any winning football bettor. A straight bet simply means that you are betting on a football match. If you bet on more than one game on the same ticket, it’s a parlay, and we’ll talk about that in a minute.

When you place a soccer straight bet, you could be betting on one side or the total. Simply put, when you bet on a side, you “choose a side” in the game. For example, let’s say the New England Patriots play the Seattle Seahawks. If you are going to bet on a team, you will bet on the Patriots or the Seahawks.

Every game has a point total (except NCAA football, which is the most games). This is the number of points scored between both teams. When you bet a total, you are betting under or over that total. For example, let’s say the total is 47 and you take over. To win, both teams must combine to score 48 points or more (47 would be a tie, meaning you get your bet back).

Soccer Betting – Parlays

Well, you know about straight up betting, which is where you only bet on one thing per ticket. When you want to bet on more than one thing, it’s a parlay. You can bet from 2 to 20 things (depends on the sports book).

For example, suppose you bet on the Seahawks and on your ticket total. That would be a 2-team parlay (although technically there is only one team in it).

The more items you put on the ticket, the more money you’ll earn if they’re all correct. Naturally, the more items on the ticket, the harder it is to win.

With parlay betting it is an all or nothing thing. If a selection fails, the ticket is dead. Some sportsbooks will offer special offers to get closer, but that is very rare.

If you start to place football bets through combination tickets, you can check out the “teasers”, which are combination tickets with additional points for you. For example, instead of taking the Packers -10, you could get them at -3. Of course, the payouts are lower as the risk is minimized.

Football betting is amazing and there is nothing better than going to the bookmaker with a big winning ticket. I placed soccer straight bets and parlays throughout the season. I look forward to the NFL and NCAA football seasons.

The Bahamas: an island paradise

The Bahamas are a good example of what most people think of when someone talks about an island paradise. The islands have had an exciting history, with illegal activities and periods of economic prosperity and poverty.

The history of the Bahamas begins with the Lukku-cairi, who were the first settlers on the islands. They were originally from South America and settled on the islands around the 9th century AD. C. after traveling through the Caribbean to the Bahamas. They were also known by a couple of other names, the Lucayans, the Arawaks, or as Columbus mistakenly called them, Indians. Columbus misnamed them, because he thought he had landed in the East Indies and designated the natives as Indians.

The islands were also known for piracy, as the islands’ location was ideal for illegal activities. Many famous pirates like Blackbeard and Anne Bonney were in the Bahamas for at least part of their careers. In general, the pirates would lure the ships into the shallow waters near the islands, and when ashore they would raid the ships. In 1670 England claimed the islands as its territory. Even then, with the largest navy at the time, Britain was unable to stop the pirates. In 1718 the first governor of the islands took office and managed to expel the pirates. At that time, England recognized the Bahamas as an official colony.

Officially, piracy was over. However, during England’s war with Spain and during the American Revolution, an official form of piracy, privateering, continued on the islands. Privateering was sanctioned by the government and brought sporadic periods of prosperity to the islands. In May 1782, Spain seized the Bahamas from the British after the Spanish entered the American Revolution and sided with the Americans. However, with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1783, Spain returned the Bahamas to England.

With the end of the Revolutionary War, some southerners who had remained loyal to England left the newly formed United States and moved to the Bahamas, bringing their slaves with them. These settlers began to grow cotton in the Bahamas under the protection of the British government. When the American Civil War began, the Union Navy tried to blockade the Bahamas. The Civil War was a prosperous time for the Bahamas, as residents began bringing Confederate cotton to England and even managed to ship equipment to the Confederacy.

After the Civil War, things calmed down a bit in the Bahamas. With the advent of prohibition in the United States, the Bahamas prospered once more as the area became a base for moonshine making its way to the United States. However, with the repeal of Prohibition, the islands once again experienced a period of economic uncertainty.

With the advent of World War II, the Bahamas began to play a new role. The islands became a way station for jet planes and navy ships in the Atlantic. When the war ended, a new, more prosperous adventure began. The islands began to be recognized as a desirable tourist destination, and visitors began to breathe new life into the islands’ economy. In the 1950s, when Cuba was closed to American tourists, the Bahamas became an alternative destination for those who wanted to visit the area.

In 1964, England granted the islands the ability to govern themselves and changed them from a colony to a Commonwealth in 1969. In 1973, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas became independent within the Commonwealth, but decided to keep Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state

The Bahamas have had a definite pattern of ups and downs over the years. Throughout its history, the Bahamas have had periods of great economic prosperity (usually through illegal or at least questionable activities) and then periods of economic stagnation. Today, the Bahamas is probably best known as a tourist destination due to its beautiful scenery.
