Chrysler Group Reports March 2007 Sales

With the beginning of April, automakers will report their sales for the previous month. It can be recalled that Edmunds.com, one of the industry’s trusted sources for automotive information, published its projected sales figures for the major players in the automotive industry.

The prediction shows a decline in sales for the Big Three, and recently the Chrysler Group reported its sales for the month of March, showing that the prediction made is indeed close to the actual sales figure for the month. The Chrysler Group reported that it has sold 206,435 units for the month of March. That number is 5 percent lower than its sales for the same month last year. The group reported unadjusted sales figures, which means they have not considered the upsell day for the month of March.

Steven Landry, Chrysler Group vice president of sales and field operations, has this to say: “In a flat or slightly declining industry, our 5 percent sales drop compares with March 2006, which was our best month. March in four years. With strong monthly sales of the Dodge Ram, Dodge Avenger and Nitro pickup trucks, along with a 4 percent increase in sales for the Jeep® brand, we exceeded our own expectations. ” This is because the Jeep brand increased its sales by four percent during the month of March of this year compared to last year.

One of the main reasons for the increase in sales of the Jeep brand is the large number of sales of the Jeep Wrangler unit. For the month of March of this year, the Jeep brand sold 13,397 units of the Wrangler compared to 8,180 units last year for the same month. That marks a 64 percent increase in sales of the Jeep Wrangler.

Other Jeep brand models that posted high sales figures include the new Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass. The new Jeep Compass recorded a sale of 3,802 units, while the Jeep Patriot recorded 2,109 units sold. The introduction and strong sales of these two new models helped the Jeep brand record a four percent improvement in sales. The two new models serve a similar purpose as a Volvo turn signal, it shows where the brand is heading.

Other notable models that posted higher sales figures are from the Chrysler and Dodge brands. Although the Sebring model posted a 14 percent decline in sales for the month of March, the sedan version of the model posted sales of 7,908 units this March, a 30 percent increase compared to last year for the same period. . The Chrysler 300 posted sales of 11,376 units, although it fell 12 percent compared to last year’s sales. For Dodge, the best achievers are the Dodge Caliber and the Dodge Charger. The brand sold 8,634 Caliber units, 32 percent more than the number of Calibers sold in March last year. The brand also sold 12,707 Dodge Chargers units, an increase of 41 percent compared to March 2006 sales for the same model.
