This is how one man made millions of dollars by publishing a cookbook …

Cookbooks are always for sale. They are always the number one sellers. People buy hundreds of cookbooks. It seems that anyone who comes out with a cookbook sells it. Before writing your book, I didn’t know much about the cookbook market, I had just read something that said cookbooks always sell well.

He was thinking of the “hungry” market and, at the same time, his love of science fiction movies. He says of his idea that he was “driving down the street. My twisted brain put these two ideas together, science fiction and cooking, special effects and cooking.”

This was in 1990. He thought of what a great idea it could be for him: a special effects cookbook; how to create recipes that move, smoke, sing and glow in the dark and breathe, snap, crack and explode etc.

And immediately, he went home and created his first recipe: a steaming dragon cake. This was a dragon-shaped cake that actually breathed out a mysterious and safe smoke.

Due to his inventive spirit, he was able to figure out how to do this himself, and then from there he just created another and another and another. It took him about two months to create 50 recipes and put them in a book.

He also decided to self-publish, and with this he sold 500,000 copies at a profit of $ 10 a piece. That’s five million dollars, right in your pocket, just for desktop publishing!

Do you have the makings of a good quality book? Here are some suggestions for you. Unless you’re a desktop publishing expert or a good artist, I’d get it done.

In the cookbook, he wrote all the recipes by hand and made some sketches. In fact, he had a good friend who was a cartoonist and he did the hand drawings that he did for the cover of the book. Then he took it to the printing press and took out 20 books. They were all softcover and had no photographs.

It didn’t even have formal copyrights; he just went ahead and printed the copyright in 1990. His plan was to sell this through space ads, but he didn’t have enough money to get it right, so he did some advertising instead.

And this is another thing that I think a lot of marketers don’t pay enough attention to is advertising their products, especially books. Books are hard to sell. If you go to a publisher and ask them to agree to publish your book, they won’t advertise it yet.

What do baseball players and coaches think about during the offseason? Well, in recent discussions I learned that a major topic of conversation was baseball practice. Coaches want to encourage their players to participate in baseball practice, and many players want to use that time to prepare for next year.

Many players decide to use the offseason to improve their playing skills. They want to play better when the next spring season rolls around. To do this, many children choose to play fall ball or participate in winter baseball camps. They want as much training as possible, not only to improve their skills, but also to not lose the skills they already have.

It’s a good idea for all high school players to consider coaching baseball year-round. Even the youngest players (12-14 years old) would benefit if they wanted to take their skills to the next level. With the proper training, they would be more prepared for high school baseball.

If you are concerned about cold weather, indoor facilities are available across the country. Additionally, many schools allow student athletes to practice in the gym at certain times. I’ve even seen advertisements offering up to three-day clinics during the off-season at reasonable prices.

If you are in the middle of a season, take advantage of this time by improving and gaining valuable experience. Find some time between games and practice to coach as much baseball as you can. This will help you in the summer and fall seasons.

You should also consider specific baseball training, conditioning, and a healthy nutrition program. All of these will help you. If you eat poorly during the off-season, you can tell in spring. You need to be lean and strong to play well, so be sure to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and healthy fats like avocados.

You can also benefit from baseball training by reading and watching baseball material. Baseball is almost half mental, so it doesn’t just require physical practice. 5. Men can put away all the different hats they collect that they won’t get rid of. My dad always collected hats throughout the many years of his life. He always says it builds character and its added accessories, just like women wear hair ties or earrings.

6. A great way to hide junk mail, newspapers, or even magazines is to put them in the toy chest for storage. You can choose a small size wooden dresser and place it as a decorative piece in your kitchen, living room or even in the bathroom (instead of a magazine rack).

7. You can organize your clothes by season. You can change winter to spring or summer to fall by placing them in the wooden toy chest.

8. You can store your garden hose, your garden shovels or planters. You can also store outdoor toys, such as sliders, rakes, or plastic shovels, and place them in your building and garage to use for the next year. If you have a fire pit in your backyard, a great way to have some extra company would be the toy chest. This adds a unique and convenient way to make marshmallows and s’mores.

9. You can create a place to store your memories, such as pictures, albums, or even childhood memories. I know my kids get a lot of art project papers, coloring papers, and crafts that they completed at school, this is something you can use as a keepsake. You can place your wedding album, CD’s, videos or even the hospital bracelet from the birth of your child. This is the perfect keepsake chest!

10. Another great way to use the trunk or toy chest is to remove the hinges from the top lid and make a clock to display on the wall. You can buy a watch that is quite cheap at a local retail store. You can go to your local craft store and buy weapons and numbers to create your own watch design. I have found Gorilla Glue to be the best type of glue when working with wood products.

11. A fun way to show off little one’s hands and feet is to have them dip them in washable paint and apply their own design to the wooden toy chest. You can create your own masterpiece while preserving the memories. This is a fun activity to get your kids involved. Every time you look at your masterpiece that you have created, it will bring you that moment in time.

12. Finally, you can cut it and use it as firewood for the winter or even in your fire in the summer. Before this, try donating it to your neighbor’s kids or to a local Goodwill.

There are a variety of ways you can use the wooden toy chest in your home if your toddler has outgrown theirs or if you are looking for a unique way to store items that don’t look like clutter.

My favorite and most creative way to repurpose the wooden toy chest is to remove the top lid from the hinges and glue a mirror around the inner shell. You can add flowers for a nice additional decoration. You can hang the upper part at the entrance of the house or at the bottom of the staircase. Place the base of the trunk underneath and add a beautiful potted plant for a stylish look.

I grew up in a conservative political home.

My parents are members of an organization in the early 1960s called Young Americans for Freedom. They went on to careers in politics and government service.

The climax of their political lives was the Reagan administration of the 1980s … the culmination of decades of efforts to put a “true” conservative in the White House.

The core beliefs that defined his version of conservatism included anti-communism, the right to life of the unborn, and a limited role for government.

Those were long-term goals. The subject that dominated his day-to-day political activities, and our dinner table discussions, as I recall, was the federal government’s fiscal policy … above all, debt.

Given the behavior of Republicans in Congress in recent months, it’s clear that my parents’ kind of conservatism has worn off. The combination of unfunded tax cuts and the budget deal that destroyed last week’s deficit worries them greatly.

You should also be concerned … in fact, our irresponsible representatives in Washington are creating a perfect economic storm.

Just when things were looking better

Thanks to our representatives in Washington, we face a future of higher interest rates, a falling dollar, and falling stock prices.

Over the past six weeks, Congress has added trillions of dollars to future federal budget deficits.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed in late December added an estimated $ 1.5 trillion to the 10-year deficit projections. Last week, Congress and President Donald Trump added another $ 300 billion to that figure with a budget deal that will last through 2019.

The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget forecasts that the federal deficit could reach $ 1.2 trillion next year.

The Congressional Budget Office forecasts a doubling of federal deficits as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) in the coming years, reaching 7% to 8% in some estimates.

Long-term data suggests that a 1% increase in the debt-to-GDP ratio corresponds to a 3-5 basis point increase in the yield on 10-year Treasuries.

How can we be so sure of this? After all, the government has run deficits for the past decade and we haven’t seen a rise in bond yields, have we? What is different now?

The answer is something central bank mandarins cheerfully call “extraordinary monetary policy.”

In the wake of the 2008 financial crash, the world’s major central banks stepped in to buy US Treasuries and other government debt as part of a deliberate strategy to keep interest rates low. The Federal Reserve, the Bank of Japan, and the European Central Bank now have more than $ 14 trillion of securities in their portfolios.

But the Fed has largely stopped buying those securities. At the end of last year, he initiated a so-called “orderly liquidation” of his position in the Treasury.

Therefore, unless another source of demand for Treasuries emerges, the influx of new supplies of Treasury bills to finance growing deficits will create a buyer’s market. That will lower Treasury prices and increase yields.

Projections suggest that the Treasury Department will sell more than $ 1 trillion of debt in 2018 alone.

That’s not all folks

Washington’s fiscal irresponsibility will affect the economy in other ways as well.

The president continually reminds us that the American economy is in growth mode. Employment is increasing and so are wages.

In that context, a massive economic stimulus in the form of deficit spending – larger even than the 2009 emergency stimulus package – will quickly turn growth into inflation. Inflation will lead to higher bond yields as buyers of Treasuries factor it into their future yields.

Those higher interest rates will force the government to funnel more funds toward ever higher interest payments. That will leave the economy with a smaller share of federal spending, depressing growth.

To complicate matters, the dollar is weakening. The dollar has weakened dramatically, losing about 10% of its value in 2017.

The combination of a weaker dollar and higher US deficits will attract foreign investors looking to increase their Treasury bond reserves. Those buyers will want higher returns to offset inflation and the risk of higher US debt. That will further lower bond prices … further increasing US government interest payments.

Ultimately, rising bond yields and inflation will lower the future value of anticipated corporate earnings and equity dividends. Lower future income streams mean lower prices for stocks. In that way, US government deficits will deflate the US stock market.

Give me that conservatism of yesteryear

Vice President Dick Cheney said the Reagan presidency demonstrated that “deficits don’t matter.”

But he was talking politics: voters at the time just weren’t punishing Republicans for running deficits.

The Reagan-era US government deficits were the largest since World War II, barring the immediate aftermath of the 2008 crisis.

But the current crop of Republicans claiming to revere Reagan is on track to create the biggest deficits this country has ever seen. In the eight years since they gained control of the House, the national debt has skyrocketed from $ 13.5 trillion to $ 20.4 trillion today.

This is the future they are creating: rising inflation. A declining stock market. Oh, and one other thing … your taxes will inevitably have to go up to pay them.

President Trump calls himself the “king of debt.” His intermediaries in Congress certainly seem to agree.

Life is good for most celebrities’ pets. It seems to be a fad these days to flaunt your pet in public if you are a celebrity. The most popular is the canine. I’m not sure who was the first person to start it, but it definitely caught fire. One Hollywood movie that definitely influenced this trend was Legally Blonde. Reese Witherspoon’s Bruiser dog in the movie went everywhere with her. She dressed him in clothes and jewelry. She pampered him like he was a child. Not only movies influenced this trend, but real-life celebrities as well. Paris Hilton was one of the first that most people probably remember. Paris and her Chihuahua Tinkerbell appear on the pages of various magazines each week. She turned a simple dog into a fashion accessory. If you can believe it, you actually take your dog for a pedicure and that’s definitely not at a discount pet supply store. Most people think this is crazy, but more and more celebrities are joining the tabloids with their pets.

Celebrities buy all kinds of jewelry for their pets. They get things like diamond necklaces and designer clothing leashes for their pups. Celebrities like Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears take their little dogs everywhere. Not only are Louis Vuitton bags a fashion craze, Louis Vuitton dog carriers became a fashion item in Hollywood because of the pop stars. Mariah Carey lets her dog Jack bathe with her, boy does she get the royal treatment. She spends hundreds of dollars on pet supplies every month just to groom Jack.

One of the craziest stories around is about the fashion designer who was hired to make the wardrobe for Tori Spelling’s dog, Mimi LaRue. Some celebrities simply have more money than they know what to do with. Does Your Dog Really Need Personalized Pet Clothing? Another celebrity who never seems to shy away from being the center of attention would be Sean “Diddy” Combs. In fact, he dressed his Maltese Sophie identically to him for 2004 fashion week in New York. I wonder what your pet supplies budget will be!

Celebrities like the Osbornes took on MTV reality shows, and their pets became stars, too. People who watched the show knew the pets by name. One of the most popular things to do with your dog right now is get canine training from Cesar Milan “The Dog Whisperer”. Some celebrities go a bit overboard and take things to the extreme, but others just pamper their pet like you and I would if we had the extra money to do so. Pink, for example, gives her Bulldog “Elvis” only bottled water. Oprah only buys her dogs designer collars, like the Burberry necklace she bought for Sophie. These are just a few of the celebrities who are constantly in the news for being crazy about their pets. One thing is for sure, if I were an animal, I would like to be a celebrity’s pet.

Some people argue that women are more ethical than men and point to whistleblowers as proof of this. Sherron Watkins, Coleen Rowley, and Cynthia Cooper reported Enron, WorldCom, and the FBI respectively. What could that tell us? Perhaps women are more likely to challenge wrongdoing because they have higher moral standards. However, we could probably all name men we think are ethical, as well as women we think are not.

However, it could be argued that women tend to think more about the effect of their actions on other people than men. They are generally more relationship oriented and worry about the impact of their decisions on others, sometimes to their own detriment. It is debatable whether these traits make them more ethical. What is more true is that women take into account different issues when addressing an ethical issue. And there is research evidence to back that up.

Harvard professor Dr. Carol Gilligan investigated gender differences and published her work in a book “In a Different Voice” (1982). According to Dr. Gilligan, men think in terms of rules and fairness, while women focus more on caring, compassion, and relationships. This inevitably means that men and women approach ethical dilemmas differently,

Linda Klebe Trevino cites research that has investigated people’s strategies for making moral judgments by presenting hypothetical moral dilemmas. Subjects were asked to say what they would do and to give a justification.

In one scenario, subjects were put in the position of manager of a toy store and asked if they would break a promise to a previous customer and sell a scarce toy to a woman who claimed that her son was very ill. The “correct” ethical choice in the situation described was intentionally highly debatable.

Twice as many women as men said they would break their previous promise and, out of sympathy, sell the toy to the woman with the sick child. Men were more likely to keep their previous commitment “ for justice. ” The investigation revealed the following:

• Women found this dilemma more troubling than men.
• Men tended to describe what they would do with short, declarative responses, while women wrote much more.
• Women worked harder than men to imitate imaginative ways of solving the problem to the satisfaction of all parties.
• Many more men than women questioned the honesty of the mother of the sick child.

In another scenario, subjects were told to imagine that they were a medical supply salesperson who knows that a competitor has a superior product. They have to decide whether to share this knowledge with a surgeon who is about to perform an operation. This scenario involves important relational issues including trust and credibility, as well as the health and future of the patient. Women were significantly more likely to disclose the information.

The reasons given by the subjects for their decisions showed a clear difference between men and women:

• Relatively few men discussed the dilemma in ethical terms, while most women did.
• Men were more likely to justify disclosure by saying it would enhance their credibility and increase sales potential in the future.
• Men often emphasize the belief that their primary obligation is to sell the product of the company they work for.
• Women were more likely to devise indirect ways, such as “clues,” to provide information.
• Men’s responses were expressed in practical terms, while many women used passionate and emotionally charged language.

If, as this research suggests, women are compassionate and men righteous, who is more ethical? If female managers make ethical decisions with greater concern for relationships and feelings and less for rights and rules, does that contribute to better ethical decision-making?

Roger Steare from Cass Business School and Pavlos Stamboulides conducted research that sheds interesting light on this topic. They conducted an online “test” of ethical perspectives on decision-making. Nearly 21,000 people from 162 countries responded. The survey explored human behavior in relation to three moral philosophies: “Compliance with the rules”, “Social conscience” and “Principle-based conscience”.

Steare and Stamboulides define these three philosophies as follows:

Compliance with rules: “The right thing is to do what they tell us; don’t think, just obey. ‘

Social conscience: “The right thing is the best for others; friendship, empathy, kindness ”.

Principle-based awareness: ‘What is correct according to the virtues of our internal moral compass; courage, justice, self-discipline, trust, love and compassion ”.

Steare points out that there is a clear hierarchy in terms of maturity with greed and fear, a kind of moral childhood, at the bottom of the scale.

The results of this research showed that 28% of the respondents complied with the rules; 35% were driven by Social Awareness; and 37% were motivated by Principled Conscience. The research also showed that Principled Conscience takes over when we go from being dependent on others, such as in our childhood and adolescence, and have to stand on our own two feet, on average, by the age of 33.

The results showed that women score much higher than men in the three categories of rule compliance, social awareness, and principle awareness.

In addition to suggesting that women are in fact more ethical than men, the research certainly points to the need to involve both men and women in ethical decision-making. Doing so will undoubtedly mean that better decisions are made because the diversity of perspectives is greater.

It is clear that applying the female perspective can help ensure that an organization is more ethical in a number of ways, including:

• More empathy and therefore more care with customers
• More creative approaches to problem solving
• More effective relationship building
• Greater trust between employees and customers
• More comprehensive and comprehensive management styles

Clearly, it is best for men and women to work together so that both sets of strengths are put to use with the goal of raising ethical standards.

And men, especially those at the top, must educate themselves to understand and apply different moral perspectives.

Some practical steps organizations can take are:

• Involve both genders when drafting a code of ethics and / or handling ethical issues. Research has shown that women often perceive ethical issues in policies or practices where men do not.
• Use a mix of men and women as mentors who are available to staff when they need help identifying and / or managing an ethical issue.
• If your organization has recurring ethical problems, gather a group of men and women to find out how best to solve the problems.
• Involve both men and women in training programs so that each can learn from the other the value of different modes of moral reasoning.

I present these suggestions with caution, as the danger is bringing in the symbolic woman to play the role of ethical police officer. The idea, of course, is not to do that, but to make sure that both men and women understand and learn from each other’s perspectives. And let men, in Roger Steare’s words, “cheer up.”

I would like to point out that Proof has marked the history of hip hop. I still miss his absence from the game.

Deshaun Holton was deeply ingrained in the Detroit scene. Eminem and D12’s overwhelming success, Proof, his always busy schedule, never changed the man he was. Down to earth, sincere, true to his roots, Proof always kept his underground work active with local artists and worked hard to put Detroit hip hop on the map.

Deshaun Holton was the type of person who would not allow fame to affect his behavior towards other people. He wasn’t too proud to talk to a former friend or fan who would cross his street in Detroit or anywhere else.

In a decade and despite the fact that all his detractors could oppose him, Big Proof has done more than many artists during his entire career.

nineteen ninety six:

Big Proof may not be as notorious as Tupac, his underground work resembles the underside of an iceberg – there’s more to discover than you really think. In fact, Proof’s musical work dates back to 1996.

Working together with DJ Head (former D12 DJ), the talented artist released a mixtape called WEGO mixtape. 5ELA’s Yester Years EP is also the fruit of a collaboration with Thyme and Mudd, who formed 5 ELA with Proof.

Deshaun Holton also had a special connection to the famous Trick Trick and his group Goon Sqwad. The same year, another CD titled From Death came out as a product of a common collaboration.

In 1996, Proof also released a Jay Dee-produced song called Da Science.

1997

Proof concentrated on working with his fellow D12s on the D12 Underground EP, a remarkable work characterized by a combination of crafty, crazy and dirty rhymes and the frequent use of dark instrumentals such as bass.

1998

In 1998, Proof and his fellow D12 members were actively working with Slim Shady on the Slim Shady EP.

On his already busy schedule, Deshaun Holton added some good quality work with dedicated hip hop artists from 5 ELA, Thyme and Mudd (Proof was also a member of the group mentioned above). The trio gave birth to various underground gems such as The Album That Time Forgot and 5E Pt 3.

Proof and Bugz also joined their lyrical endeavors on late artist Bugz’s underground classic, These Streets EP. These Streets EP is, by the way, very popular in the city of Detroit.

1999 to 2000

The years that followed Proof were very busy. Eminem’s overwhelming fame, constant touring, kept Proof very active on the scene, as Eminem’s over-the-top man.

2001

Regarding D12, one could hardly think of 2001 without thinking of the Devil’s Night album. Great success followed with the album’s release.

During the same period, Detroit’s Dirty Dozen released Detroit What! Mixtape. Glory, fame, and acclaim didn’t change Proof, who never neglected his local hip hop scene.

In 2001, Proof also combined some intense musical endeavors with his friend Kevin Bailey, also known as Dogmatic.

Promatic originated from the combination of the names of both artists: Proof plus Dogmatic equals Promatic. Both artists released the LP Promatic the same year.

2002

If you were already a fan or listener of Proof in 2002, parts of their projects were available and downloadable on their old website, Big Proof Dot Com. One such project was the EP Electric Coolaid Acid.

2004

Sometimes it feels so lonely at the top. Fame can alter the taste of simple pleasure and force you to do the things that you like least, but that are requested by the music industry.

At times, Deshaun felt that his entry into the mainstream sphere had left a bitter aftertaste on his mind. On I Miss The Hip Hop Shop, a brilliant mixtape featuring many local Detroit collaborations and productions, Big Proof expressed how much he regretted the golden age of hip hop he experienced at Maurice Malone’s hip hop shop.

2005

Maturity comes with age and experience. From there, you can look back at your mistakes and try to improve yourself. In Grown Man Shit Proof he began crushing a bloody meat with his long-term rival, acid rapper Esham. But Proof did not limit his attempt at reconciliation to words recorded on tape: his reconciliation with Esham happened at his last birthday party on October 2, 2006.

In Grown Man Shit, Proof also puts some puny local enemies in their place and craftily ridicules them in a well-written song, with plenty of humor.

2006

In 2006, Proof released his LP Searching For Jerry Garcia, a CD that he had been working on for at least three years prior to its release. In Searching For Jerry Garcia, Proof reveals his relentless pursuit of true art, showing how difficult it is to be a true artist, in every sense of the term.

The same year, the Proof s Hand 2 Hand mixtape, a beautiful compilation of numerous Detroit talents, also came out.

Before his tragic death in March 2006, Proof made one last album, In 24 Hours, which is titled Time A Tell. The album, which includes some collaborations with underground emcee Intrinzik, has yet to be released.

Throughout his career, Proof has been collaborating with numerous local Detroit talent. Among them, the famous Trick Trick and his Goon Sqwad, Jay Dilla, Hash, Purple Gang, Woof Pac, 5 ELA, Dogmatic, Royce Da 5.9, Slum Village, Malaki The Most Hi, Twiztid of Psychopatic Records and many more.

On a national scale, Proof has also worked with numerous influential artists including Cypress Hill’s B Real, 50 Cent, Nate Dogg, and Method Man.

Deshaun Holton’s short life is testament to his true love for hip hop. A love that no one can erase from the face of the earth.
