Leominster itself dates back to the 7th century and is in the heart of the Marches. The Priory and Church formed the center from which the town grew and today Leominster has retained much of its medieval and Tudor style; narrow streets with picturesque half-timbered houses, some with cantilevered first floors. Other parts of the city feature wide streets and elegant buildings from the Georgian period. There are numerous heritage buildings in the area.
