How the Cincinnati Bengals came about

The year 1966 is an important year for the Cincinnati Bengals because it was the year their existence was first established. Then Ohio Governor James A. Rhodes convinced Paul Brown during a time when he wanted to get involved in professional soccer again, that Ohio needed another team. Cincinnati became the most logical choice.

The name Bengals was personally chosen by Brown to create a link to past professional soccer in the state. There was already a previous team that used the Bengals name and played on three football fields. Another inspiration for the name came from the fact that the city’s zoo housed a rare white Bengal tiger. The shade of orange that the Bengals are known by today is believed to have been chosen by Brown to insult Art Modell, as it is the same color used by Modell’s previous team. He just added the black color to make the team color unique. Brown funded the Bengals only when he was confident that the team would become an NFL franchise after the merger.

To accommodate the Cincinnati Bengals games, the local government of Cincinnati, with the support of the governor, made plans to build a multipurpose facility in the waterfront section of the city. This stadium was officially known as Riverfront Stadium. When the merger was completed in 1970, the Bengals encountered an instant rivalry with the Cleveland Browns as a result of the rivalry between Paul Brown and Art Modell.

The inaugural season of the Cincinnati games was played at Nippert Stadium. Although they are 3-11, they still had something to be proud of: They had a team member who was proclaimed Rookie of the Year. During the team’s first eight seasons, it was Paul Brown who coached the team and was very particular in selecting players with above-average intelligence. The players Brown selected were ultimately very successful in the other careers that followed.

It was only in the 1970s that the Bengals brought their games to Riverfront Stadium, a place they shared with the Cincinnati Reds. It was not until 2000 that the team moved to the Paul Brown Stadium. The team made the playoffs three times during that decade, but failed to win any of the postseason games. The year 1975 gave the team the highest winning percentage in franchise history with an 11-3 record, but it only earned them one spot as a wild card in the playoffs.

The Cincinnati Bengals made it to the Super Bowl twice in the 1980s, but lost twice to the San Francisco 49ers. Paul Brown died in 1990 and control of the team passed to his son, Mike Brown. When Mike took over, winnings were given higher priority than winnings, causing the game to lose one after another. They only got better in 2003 with a new head coach, but since then, the team has continually lost as it did in the early 90s.

Lawrence Taylor – Where are they now?

In our series “Where are they now?” We’ll focus on # 56 Lawrence Taylor, arguably the best linebacker to ever play in the NFL. Many consider him the best defensive player in the history of the game, others even mention his name with the best players regardless of position.

LT revolutionized linebacker in the early 1980s with his speed, strength and intelligence. He made it a common practice to hit the ball in order to generate turnovers by rival players who feared him. It not only changed the way defense was played, but also the way offenses would approach playing it. They had to account for number 56 and adjust their game plans and lineups.

LT played his college ball at the University of North Carolina, where he was an All American, was selected by the NY Giants as the second overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft. His years with New York were full of success both to individual level as part of great Giants teams that won Super Bowl XXI and Super Bowl XXV under his leadership. He was named NFL MVP in 1986 after recording 20.5 sacks. He was also named Defensive Player of the Year three times.

His life on and off the field is full of achievement but also controversial. Lawrence has had a highly publicized and talked-about topic on addiction to narcotics, specifically cocaine. His battle has been well documented, but this has in no way affected or tarnished his place in NFL history, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. A beloved player during and after his career, Taylor has become moved from the field to the big screen starring feature films and television shows.

He was a huge hit on Dancing with the Stars alongside his beautiful dance partner Edyta Sliwinska, unfortunately LT was eliminated in week seven. When it comes to being in front of the camera, Lawrence has appeared in such films as “Any given Sunday,” “Shaft,” and “The Waterboy.” Television appearances include an ad on “The Sopranos” where he played himself and has also worked as a commentator for TNT Sunday Night Football, which never took off. Taylor also appeared at Wrestle Mania, where he wrestled and defeated Bam Bam Bigalow and hosted a show called “Toughman” on FX. You are in the process of advancing your acting career and have a few undisclosed projects on a big or small screen near you.

After his playing career, LT founded a company called All-Pro Products that immediately became profitable after going public, the stock tripling in the first month. The initial value was in the millions, but the stock plummeted and LT was later found to have been defrauded by Hanover Sterling & Company, a penny-stock company that shorted the stock and led to the company’s demise.

Lawrence Taylor has lived a wild life during and after his NFL career, admitting to having affairs with prostitutes and even admitting to sending prostitutes to rival players during his career to tire them out during the game over the next few days. These days, it seems like this great former NFL star has taken it down a bit and has successfully overcome her addiction to cocaine. He has been clean since 1998 and has remarried for the third time. When you’re not working, you can find number 56 on the golf course perfecting your favorite hobby.

Many players have been compared to LT, Ray Lewis for example plays with the same intensity, others like Ladainian Tomlinson carry his initials and nickname, but there will never be another Lawrence Taylor!

Crazy World Series between Los Angeles and Houston recalls a crazy 1993 showdown

Game 5 of the 2017 World Series ended with the most runs scored in the Fall Classic in more than twenty years, a ten-inning affair that also set a record number of home runs. Yet a memorable World Series game saw the two pennant winners cross the plate nearly thirty times, and they managed to do so without the extra inning.

In the fall of 1993, Toronto entered the fourth game in Philadelphia after winning two of the first three. It would be a contest that makes the 2017 Series, which has been hailed as crazy and crazy, seem pretty quiet.

The Blue Jays set the tone early, as future Hall of Fame outfielder Rickey Henderson led off the game with a double. He was quickly joined on the base trails after Devon White walked, and eventual Series MVP Joe Carter singled.

Another future Hall of Famer, designated hitter Paul Molitor, took a bases loaded walk to put the Blue Jays up 1-0. Shortstop Tony Fernandez then hit a two-run single that allowed Toronto right-hander Todd Stottlemeyer to get on the mound with a 3-0 lead.

Stottlemeyer then proceeded to walk four batters in the bottom of the first before allowing a triple to outfielder Milt Thompson, giving the Phillies a 4-3 lead. An inning later, a two-run home run by outfielder Lenny Dykstra extended that margin to 6-3, only for the Blue Jays to mount their first comeback in the third.

Three singles and a pair of walks gave Toronto four runs for a 7-6 lead, which was erased in the fourth on a double by Dykstra and an infielder RBI single by infielder Mariano Duncan. Similar to the end of the sixth inning of Game 5 in 2017, the two teams were stuck at seven.

The Phils seemed to have put the game out of their league when they hit five runs, including home runs by Dykstra and wide receiver Darren Daulton. Toronto managed to add two of their own in the sixth, cutting the deficit to 12-9.

Those two runs were quickly regained by Philadelphia, who scored one in each successive inning to get back to five. Then ten men went to the plate in Toronto’s eighth inning, when six Blue Jay running backs crossed the plate to take a 15-14 lead.

Closer Duane Ward entered the eighth and retired all four batters he faced to save Toronto, which was now just one game away from winning its second consecutive World Series Championship. It was another two games before the Blue Jays finished off the Phillies, who made sure of everything with Joe Carter’s historic home run.

That roller coaster in game four highlighted one of the best World Series in the sport, one that would have to satisfy baseball fans when the next season rolled around. Unfortunately, there would be no Fall Classic in 1994 due to a breakdown in labor negotiations.

Notes from Ness (May 22)

This year’s NBA conference semifinals have seen three of the four series in seven games (Heat beat the Nets in five games), after none of the four conference semifinals made it past six games in the year. past. It’s actually quite unusual for so many series to last so long, so early in the playoffs.

My free game is with the Chi Cubs over the Fla Marlins at 7:05 ET. After a perfect 3-0 sweep this weekend with my exclusive Las Vegas Insider plays (Spurs / Tigers / Pistons), I am looking to improve my Las Vegas Insider record in MLB this May to 6-1 with another winner this night. I also have a 15 * Rivalry Classic Play in the Yankees / Red Sox game. In the NBA playoffs, I will host a LEGEND Play (4-1 in TY’s postseason!) In one of two Game 7s tonight. Do not miss it!

In fact, it’s only the third time since Bird and Magic rejuvenated the league by entering the NBA in the 1979-80 season. The last time was in 1994 and the other in 1981. It has been nine years (since 1980) in which none of the semifinal series was forced to a seventh game with three years standing out. In 1998, the four series were just five games (it happened in 2002 as well) and in 1999 there were three four-game sweeps and one six-game series.

Also noteworthy in this year’s postseason is the number of closed games. Through two rounds last year (65 games), only one game was decided by just one point, another four by two points, and five more in overtime. Through 69 games this year, eight games have been decided by one point (three in overtime), six more by two points and another five in overtime. That is a big difference.

However, yesterday there was nothing like it in the first of the three Game 7s of this year’s semifinal round. The Pistons beat the Cavs on Sunday holding them to 23 points in the second half in a 79-61 victory. Detroit may have looked very vulnerable in the middle of this series (lost Games 3, 4 and 5) but they opened and closed it hard. They won Game 1 by 27 points and Game 7 by 18!

Detroit is now 10-2 when facing elimination since the ’03 playoffs and the Pistons are 12-1 in games in which they have had a chance to eliminate their opponent. That one loss came in Game 7 of the NBA Finals last year. Speaking of Game 7, home teams are now 77-17 in NBA playoff history.

There are two more Game 7s on the schedule tonight and will the home team’s dominance continue? Home teams have been struggling lately in this year’s playoffs, especially against the spread. After opening 30-9 SU, the home teams finished the first round with a run of 1-5 SU and ATS and have gone 15-9 SU (11-13 ATS) in the second round. That’s a 30-game run of 16-14 SU and only 12-18 ATS!

However, in two game 7s this year, the home teams won and covered easily. The Suns crushed the Lakers in the first round 121-90 in Game 7 and the Pistons won easily yesterday. Tonight’s first Game 7 (both televised on TNT) is the Mavs / Spurs at 8:00 ET with San Antonio favored by 3 1/2 points (192). Game two is Clippers / Suns at 10:30 ET with Phoenix favored by four points (215 1/2).

The Spurs have rallied in this series to win Games 5 and 6 and will seek to become the ninth team in NBA playoff history to overcome a 3-1 deficit and win a seven-game series. The Suns were the eighth team to do so, when they returned to beat the Lakers in the first round this year. Jason Terry is back for the Mavs after his one-game suspension in Game 6.

In the second game of the night, the Clippers are playing Game 7 of the franchise, while the Suns are playing their second Game 7 of as many series. Neither team has been able to win consecutive games in this series, with the Suns winning Games 1, 3 and 5 and the Clippers winning Games 2, 4 and 6. The teams have not played since Thursday and conventional wisdom says that that will help the Suns more.

Over players had been on a hot streak in the postseason, as nine of the last 10 games of the first round ended and then 15 of the first 21 did the same in the second round, for a 24-7 run. However, last weekend’s three games (two on Friday plus yesterday’s game) fell short of the total.

Followers of the “Zig-Zag” theory have been going through this year’s playoffs, both ‘hot’ and ‘cold’. They opened 19-8-2 ATS in the first round, but closed with a 0-8 slip. They opened strong again in the second round, going 10-4, but have since gone 1-5 (now 11-9 in the second round). If it weren’t for the LA Clippers and Phoenix Suns (who are a perfect 5-0 in their series), they are just 6-9 ATS in the second round.

MLB Ratings

Interleague action takes place during the month after a game weekend in which Barry Bonds landed his elusive 714 HR. The new week kicks off with the Cardinals owning MLB’s longest active winning streak in five straight games with the Devil Rays and Dodgers right behind them, having won four in a row.

The Dodgers have won 12 of 15 and play in the only MLB division (NL West) that does not have a losing team. That’s interesting, since last year the Padres won that division with an 82-80 record. The Dodgers swept the Angels in a three-game series over the weekend and the team that played the White Sox in last year’s ALCS is now 17-27 on the year, having lost 17 of their last 22!

Losing has been easy for the Royals (10-31), who open the week with the longest active losing streak in MLB with nine in a row (they are 2-20 on the road). The Marlins have lost seven straight games, ending a 10-game road trip 2-8. Florida (11-31) returns home tonight to host the Cubs, but the bad news is that the Marlins have the Marlins’ worst home record at 3-14.

The Marlins are the league’s biggest “money spenders” at minus $ 1,628 (100 / game), followed by the Royals (minus $ 1,457), the Pirates 14-30 (minus $ 1,449) and the Angels in freefall ( less – $ 1227). The 29-14 Tigers are still the MLB’s “best bet”, earning more than $ 1,539. The Rockies (25-19) are second best at more than $ 906 and it should be noted that these two teams they are the biggest ‘minor’ teams in MLB, at 14-26-3 and 15-26-3, respectively!

There are “13 lucky games” on tonight’s schedule, highlighted by the Yankees visiting Fenway Park to face the Red Sox at 7:05 ET on ESPN. It’s Wang against Schilling, with the Red Sox favored under $ 1.55 and a posted total of 9 1/2.

Ness Notes is available Monday through Friday at 1:00 ET.

Review – Ayn Rand for Beginners

Ayn Rand for Beginners, Andrew Bernstein, 2009, ISBN 9781934389379

Here is a simple introduction to the life and philosophy of Ayn Rand. In addition to being the founder of Objectivism, she also wrote Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead, two of the most famous novels of the 20th century.

The Fountainhead takes place in the 1920s and 1930s, and is about Howard Roark, a modernist architect in a society that prefers buildings that look like Gothic cathedrals or Greek temples. He is expelled from the university, fired from a job, and loses commissions due to his outright refusal to compromise his principles. Later, reluctantly, working in a quarry because he was forced to leave the field of architecture, Roark designs a revolutionary apartment building in New York City. As part of a socialist plot to neutralize Roark, his revolutionary design for a religious temple is criticized as sacrilege, thus calling Roark an enemy of religion and a public enemy. Charged with designing a government housing project, Roark’s design is changed without his knowledge or consent. Does Roark let him go ahead or not?

In Atlas Shrugged, America is being pushed toward socialism by politicians and intellectuals; Furthermore, America’s greatest minds are literally disappearing. Where are they going?

In an isolated part of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, railroad owner Dagny Taggart finds America’s missing smart people. They are on strike against a moral code that says moral goodness is found in sacrificing oneself for others, not in finding personal happiness. Taggart also meets John Galt, inventor of an ultra-efficient engine and leader of the strike. The state kidnaps Galt and tortures him to force him to become America’s economic dictator and fix America’s precarious economy. Does Galt give in or stay true to his principles?

For anyone who has read any of Rand’s books and still doesn’t understand them, this is the book. For anyone who wants to know more about Objectivism, this is the book. For anyone who simply wants to know more about a famous person from the 20th century, this is the book. It is a jewel.

2015 Fantasy Football Sleepers

One of the keys to winning your fantasy football league is the ability to recruit Sleepers. The “sleepers” are NFL players who are drafted in much lower rounds in their fantasy football drafts than their final stats warrant. In terms of shopping, this is like getting a 22 oz bottle of Not Your Father’s Root Beer (the 19.9% version … mmmm, mmmm) for A&W prices. In the world of full-season fantasy football, this is the avenue to league championship. We have seen championships won on the heels of Sleepers every year. They have come out of nowhere to register monsters years after being double-digit or exemption cable picks. When you can get a player at the end of your draft who becomes your No. 1 producer at a certain position, you, my friends, have a true Sleeper. Below are some projected fantasy football sleepers by position for the 2015 season.

2015 Fantasy Football Sleepers

QB: Teddy bridgewater (Minnesota) – Teddy took the reins from Matt Cassel at Minny in Week 4 in 2014 and never looked back. He was composed, confident and productive and returned in 2015 as the opener of the opening game with experience and new toys. He had a trio of running backs to hand the ball to last year, but none of them were named Adrian Peterson. You might think the Vikings will throw Peterson to the ground since he has fresh legs, which is possible, but having him in the backfield will open up the passing game much more than last year’s timeshare. The Vikings also improved at WR by trading senior Greg Jennings and adding orderly Mike Wallace. On top of that, the Vikings will have a healthy Kyle Rudolph TE to add to the mix. Teddy is being selected in double-digit rounds like QB2, but there’s no reason not to believe that you won’t find more games than you’ll want to start with.

Also consider: Derek Carr (Oakland), Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buffalo)

RB: Joseph randle (Dallas) – Even though owner Jerry Jones is a jerk, there’s no way he would let DeMarco Murray go and be content to bring in RB Darren McFadden to replace him unless he relied on his reserve RBs from 2014. I think he McFadden’s move It was a sympathy move from a fellow Razorback alumnus as McFadden has been a real failure since he was drafted by Oakland in 2008, although injuries are the main reason. He was very talented in college, but one has to wonder how much his speed has affected his myriad of injuries. With McFadden already battling hamstring injuries, Randle is strengthening his position as the opening game starter as Dallas realizes that McFadden is as far from a dependable workhorse as I am. Randle is only 23 years old and has a great combination of size and speed. Even if Randle starts the season with just 15 carries a game, I expect good things as he could probably get 100 yards a game behind that huge Cowboys offensive line.

Also consider: David Cobb (Tennessee), David Johnson (Arizona)

WR: Nick toon (New Orleans) – We featured Brandin Cooks of the Saints at the venue last season and he made us look smart … until he missed out on injury. He’s back this season and healthy, but the Saints have rebuilt their offense and lost TE Jimmy Graham and WR Kenny Stills in the process. With WR Marques Colston getting older, Cooks is going to need a running mate and we hope Toon will be that partner. He is entering his third year in the league and seemed to be in tune with QB Drew Brees towards the end of 2014 when he had 17 of his 23 career receptions in the last 6 games of the season. Even though the Saints started to rely more on the running game last season, there’s no way they’re not keeping Brees’ pitching arm active and we see Toon MUCH more involved than ever. You should be able to catch him with your latest WR pick and not risk too much for a huge advantage that makes him a massive fantasy football sleeper.

Also consider: Allen Robinson (Jacksonville), Davante Adams (Green Bay)

YOU: Austin Seferian-Jenkins (Tampa Bay) – Jenkins was thought to be entering his 2014 rookie season, but he limped through the season with foot, ankle and back problems and had little impact. He comes into 2015 healthy and with a rookie quarterback, which is often a good thing for a pass-catching tight end, as a rookie quarterback often flies past and finds his TE as the passing rush draws near. At 6’6 “262 pounds, Jenkins will be easy for QB Jameis Winston to find on the field. The Bucs added a new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter this season from Atlanta. Atlanta put the ball in the air more than all but two teams. last season, so there should be plenty of opportunities to put that ball in Austin’s big hands in Tampa.

Also consider: Rob Housler (Cleveland), Josh Hill (New Orleans)

K: Connor Barth (Denver) – Barth came on board in 2014 after the Broncos kicked Brandon McManus to the curb and quickly made 15 of 16 field goal attempts and all of his extra points. Barth didn’t line up for any really long field goal attempts, but he had shown his leg strength during his four seasons in Tampa, so he would expect to see those opportunities show up on the air from Denver this season. Denver’s offense may not be the powerhouse this season since quarterback Peyton Manning joined the team, but they will provide Barth with more than ample opportunities for him to compete for the league scoring title.

Also consider: Greg Zuerlein (St. Louis), Blair Walsh (Minnesota)

D: Miami Dolphins – The Dolphins were slightly above average last season with DEs Cameron Wake and Olivier Vernon causing some havoc. In the offseason the Fins added Ndamukong Suh and now this defensive line is one of the top 2 or 3 units in the league. With the added pressure, you can also expect an increase in fumbles and interceptions. Expect the defense to really rack up points in the first half of the season, as no opponent has a scary offense in a game at Foxboro, and I honestly hope the Patriots go down a bit this year.

Also consider: New York Jets, Minnesota

A Quick Guide To Taiwanese Blood Sausage: A Must-Eat At Taiwanese Night Markets

Taiwanese blood sausage or pig’s blood cake is made from pig’s blood mixed with glutinous rice. Like many famous Taiwanese ‘little eaters’, Taiwanese blood sausage can trace its origins back to mainland China. This small food is believed to have been invented by farming communities as a way to use all parts of an animal’s body. Without the invention of blood sausage, pig’s blood would simply run down the drain and go to waste.

Duck blood was the first animal blood to be mixed with rice and steamed into a “blood cake.” As duck and its products became more and more expensive, Taiwanese sought blood from other animals that would form a steamed blood cake with similar consistencies. Pig’s blood was used and so delicious variations of pig’s blood cake began to emerge. Duck blood cake is no longer easily seen on the streets of Taiwan.

Once the pudding is steamed, it is cut, usually into thick rectangular slices, and set on a skewer. This is immediately dipped into potency of fresh peanuts and cilantro. Basil is also said to be sometimes used in place of coriander, especially in summer when coriander prices can make it unaffordable. Although traditionally cut into rectangular slices, some sell Taiwanese black pudding elegantly with the claim that it adds to the texture and helps to enhance the flavor in every bite. Some puddings are up to 6 inches long and some require 2 skewers to hold. Some housewives simply cut the homemade black pudding into small cubes and add them to a clear soup served with fresh ginger or coriander.

In the early periods, steamed black pudding bathed in thick soy sauce and sweet chili sauce are the preferred flavors in southern Taiwan, where, as it was the north, it preferred to dip the pudding into potency of peanuts and coriander. Today, the northern version can be seen in every corner of the island.

As usual, the food at Taiwanese night markets is cooked in front of you and served immediately. Watching the stall master lift his pudding (on the skewer) fresh from the steamer and season the flavors while you wait makes for an even more tempting experience. You should arrive in good time, especially at popular stalls. Some stores are so popular that the wait can be up to an hour or more and may sell out in the early afternoon.

Highlights of Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles is a fascinating city and a great place for anyone to take a vacation. Visiting Los Angeles and the surrounding areas could be one of the best and most memorable experiences you will ever have. Tourists seem to get excited about everything from the simplest to the biggest. For whatever reason, tourists always like to see the famous Hollywood sign and especially visitors from non-coastal states like to hit the beach and see the Pacific Ocean for the first time.

If you are really interested in the Film Industry, you can go to the recordings of numerous television programs where you can see your favorite stars live and in person. Or if you prefer to be in front of the camera rather than in the audience, there are various advertisements in newspapers, magazines, and posted on telephone poles looking for all kinds of people who want to be background extras in movies, TV shows, and commercials. No experience is needed. Be sure to head down Hollywood Boulevard and search the ground for the stars of your favorite artists on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

You can go to the Staples Center, home of the ninth time NBA (National Basketball

Association) World Champions Los Angeles Lakers. Magic Johnson has stopped playing professional basketball, but he will still see his name all over Los Angeles. He’s involved with a few businesses in town, including some 24-hour fitness venues, Magic Johnson theaters located at Crenshaw Mall, Starbucks Coffee, and Magic Johnson’s TGI Friday’s restaurant.

Right across the street from the Forum in Inglewood, where the Lakers used to play for about 30 years until a few years ago, is the Hollywood Park Race Track and Casino. They only have horse races a few months out of the year. But you’re in “luck” because the Casino is in full swing 24/7 to meet your gaming needs. It’s one of the few places around here that, at least so far, still has FREE parking.

Baseball fans can head to Dodger Stadium, home of former World Series champions Los Angeles Dodgers. You don’t want to go to Dodger Stadium without eating one of their famous Dodger Dogs.

Not only do we have professional sports champions, we also have our very famous city college rivals, the UCLA Bruins and the USC Trojans, who have brought team championships to the city of Los Angeles and both have brought their students and alumni. Return gold medals when they represented the United States throughout the years at the Olympics.

If you want to see another historic sports site, go to the Los Angeles Coliseum. Not only was it the home of the Rams, and then the Raiders, when Los Angeles used to have an NFL football team, but it was an important location for the 1932 and 1984 Summer Olympics. If you watched the Olympics , then he saw the Los Angeles Coliseum during the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and Athletics events. The Olympic Torch is still there.

While you’re at the Colosseum, it would be worth the walk to the California Science Center in Exposition Park. It is a great educational learning experience for both adults and children. The Sports Arena is in that general area. Also, within walking distance in that area are several museums that you might be interested in touring.

You don’t want to miss out on the 405 San Diego Freeway that runs along the west side of Los Angeles County so you can enjoy the bumper-to-bumper traffic we all experience so often. Most people in the area call it the largest parking lot in the world. Your foot uses the brake of your car while burning that expensive gasoline. Usually you are at a full stop or traveling at a snail’s pace. Just hope they don’t have a car accident on the freeway in front of you because the snail would really win it in a race.

If you are leaving from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is right next to Playa del Rey on the west end of the city, you can take Highway 405 and head north. When you can finally get through the traffic, you can visit the J. Paul Getty Museum, which is just before you hit the valley.

You can go to Marina del Rey, north of the airport, where you can enjoy a dinner cruise on the ocean or bring your fishing pole and go out on one of the fishing boats all day or just hang out in Fisherman’s Village overlooking the Pacific. Ocean and has food, drink and gift shops. There are places near most of the beaches where you can rent bicycles. There is a Bike Path that runs along the side of the Pacific Ocean right on the beach. If you like to skate, skate and / or skateboard, then you will really like Venice Beach.

Normally from the west side of Los Angeles, if you are on or near Playa del Rey and you look up, you can see planes taking off over the ocean. If you are somewhere east of the airport, you can see the planes coming in for a landing. But if you look up and see a helicopter, don’t be confused. This is probably not a guided helicopter tour. Most likely it is the Los Angeles Police Department helicopter chasing a suspect with media helicopters trying to fire and trying their best to stay out of the way. Police car chases are very common around here. You hear emergency vehicle sirens coming from all directions. But that’s the best thing about Los Angeles for keeping our city nice and safe.

To be fair, as a traveler, you really need to make the safety of yourself and your family a top priority, no matter what city in the world you visit.

If you want to do another cruise, you can go to Catalina Island. You can go there, have a little fun and come back the same day if you want or you can stay several days if you really like it. There are numerous activities out there.

Another historic site you don’t want to miss is the corner of Florence and Normandie avenues, which was where the 1992 Los Angeles riots began. Most of the businesses that caught fire during that time have since been rebuilt, so, of course, they look much better and more modern. Others may never be rebuilt.

At the southern tip of Los Angeles County is Long Beach, where you can see the Queen Mary ship that is docked. You can tour the ship. Also, while in Long Beach, you can visit the Aquarium of the Pacific for an underwater adventure. Like the California Science Center, it is another great educational learning opportunity for both adults and children.

To go shopping, it depends on what interests you. You can get just about anything you can think of in the malls that are everywhere. The Del Amo Mall in Torrance (the southern part of Los Angeles County) is one of the largest shopping malls in the United States. If you’re looking for discounted clothing and other products, head to the downtown Los Angeles garment district. If you want the expensive stuff, go down Rodeo Drive and the Wilshire Boulevard area in Beverly Hills. Just east of Beverly Hills is the Grove, where you can visit the Farmers Market that has been serving Los Angeles since 1934. The area has changed, expanded, and built in recent years.

Wilshire Boulevard is one of the main shopping streets in Los Angeles that runs from the beach to downtown Los Angeles. So if you want to drive down Wilshire Boulevard just for fun, you can start at the Santa Monica Pier overlooking the Pacific Ocean and take you through the cities of Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Los Angeles. When you arrive downtown, be sure to check out the Los Angeles Civic Center area.

Another interesting street to drive for fun is Crenshaw Boulevard. You can start at Wilshire Blvd and head south on Crenshaw Boulevard. It will take you through downtown Los Angeles.
