Gerald Green: Sean Williams is NBA stuff

Many people were surprised to hear that Sean Williams has been permanently expelled from Boston College. men’s basketball team for violating team rules. Tea no violations were specified. Gerald Green was no different when he heard the news. I was stunned by that.

Gerald Green worked with Sean Williams during the summer of 2006 at John Lucas’ basketball camp in Houston. Green got to know what it’s like to drive the ball under Williams’s massive wingspan. William is 6ft 10.

In a press conference after the Celtics lost to Sacramento 96-91 at TD Banknorth Garden, Green said the decision to expel Williams from the college basketball team really surprised him. He hopes Williams still has a chance to play in the league despite what happened. Green went on to say that Williams was a good person to talk to.

It is more eminent for Williams to enter the NBA draft rather than transfer to another program. However, the bigger question is whether Williams is ready for the league. Boston College’s youth offense has shown significant improvement this season, but playing in the NBA is a totally different ball game.

Green went from high school directly to the Celtics last season. It’s just that he has to round out his game to an acceptable NBA form. Green can attest to the fact that playing in the NBA is completely different from playing college basketball.

Green said no one on the college basketball circuit is ready for the NBA, but he felt Williams had the potential for the NBA.
