How to walk on the moon like Michael Jackson

The moonwalk was a move that set Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, apart from the rest and made him a huge stage sensation. Millions of dance fans around the world try to learn to moonwalk or learn to dance like the King of Pop, but his style is not easy to master. The moonwalk movement is a type of illusion, where a person slides backwards, while appearing to walk forwards. The moonwalk first appeared in the music video for “Billie Jean,” which launched Jackson to superstardom.

Learn the Moonwalk: Before You Begin

Before you begin the moonwalk, keep the following in mind to help you execute the steps better:

* The footwear: For the moonwalk to appear effortless, the friction between the ground and the feet must be very low. Choose shoes with smooth soles to reduce friction. If you’re just starting out, try the move wearing only socks, as this will make friction almost negligible.

* The Floor: The surface of the floor is as important as the right footwear. Find the smoothest floor to practice on. Lanolin surfaces and smooth hardwood floors work well for this purpose.
