Powering future

The gym vs home workout

There are various reasons why people choose to exercise at home and various reasons why other people choose to exercise at a commercial gym. If you’re just starting a new exercise routine, you may not be sure which option is best for you. Here are some things to consider, contrast, and compare before deciding whether to invest in a gym membership or equipment for your home:

Cost:

Gym memberships can be expensive and this would be an ongoing expense as all gyms have monthly membership fees. Decide if you can afford the enrollment fee as well as the monthly fee. Find out if that monthly fee is locked in for the life of your membership or is subject to an increase in the future. Keep this in mind when determining your budget constraints. If you decide to opt for gym membership, do some price comparisons before committing to a membership. If you like the gym and want to join, but the price is out of your reach, it’s okay to ask for a discount, and if the answer is no, ask when their next big sale is and buy it now. If he’s still out of your league financially, don’t hesitate to walk away. There are other gyms out there, and they are likely to offer some kind of incentive for you to buy their membership instead of going elsewhere.

Home equipment can also be expensive and possibly an even bigger investment up front. However, once you’re fully equipped with the items you need to work most effectively for you, this cost stops entirely (barring minor repairs or replacement when equipment wears out or breaks). Therefore, this can be a much more cost-effective way to improve health and fitness than a commercial gym. Definitely do some shopping to find the gear you want. Prices can vary widely, especially for larger equipment like treadmills. Be warned though: the quality of fitness equipment can also vary widely. It’s true what they say, “You get what you pay for.”

Functionality:

Commercial gyms often have a lot going for them in this area. They are generally well stocked with all weights and sizes of bars in the free weight area, plenty of benches including supine and incline benches, and in most commercial gyms you will find many different brands of weight machines and types of cardiovascular exercises. machinery. You won’t be short of ways to add variety to your workouts with all the equipment you’ll have available to you.

Home workouts, on the other hand, can also be well equipped, but that is completely up to you and what you buy for your home gym. If you don’t buy a lot of equipment for your workout space or don’t have room for a lot of equipment in your space, you may have a fairly limited variety. Take care that you can change your routines often, even with your limited equipment, the rules of fitness dictate that you can change your routine from time to time to avoid plateaus and plateaus.

Convenience:

To work out at a commercial gym, keep in mind that you must make time to drive to the gym and return home. You may also find yourself standing in lines waiting to wear your favorite gear if you work out during peak hours. Not so convenient for some.

In your own gym at home you do not have to travel, nor will you have to wait for the equipment, it is all yours! Pretty convenient in most people’s minds!

Privacy and fellowship:

Here’s a big one. Some people prefer to exercise among many other people who also exercise. They find that they can feed off other people’s energy and be inspired or motivated by those around them simply by being in the same space.

However, some people actually prefer to exercise in private. They may feel that they are ‘not in good shape’ to be seen in sportswear and would prefer to carry on without others looking at them. For these people, the home gym scenario works much better. Oh, and by the way, those of you who think that, note that everyone is in the gym for the same reason: to exercise… and hardly anyone looks at you. Everyone has their own workouts to focus on.

Attendance:

Many people choose the commercial gym for their workouts strictly because of the help they can get from working out, among other things. Spotters, trainers, or simply watching others’ techniques are all ways to get help in a commercial gym. For those who lift very heavy weights, a spotter is a must. Benching under a bar without a spotter can cause serious injury if the lifter becomes trapped under the bar or falls on top of the bar.

In the assembly of the gym at home you have to be very careful with the weights. I’d recommend against using a barbell for moves like bench pressing (use dumbbells instead, then if your muscles fail you can at least drop them to the side without getting caught under the bar). There are also no coaches available or other people looking out for technical advice when working alone at home. However, there is always the Internet! You can watch videos on YouTube to get that kind of technical advice or find a trainer online to replace a gym trainer. Still, you can’t get an internet watcher, you still need a real person with you for that.

Hopefully these comparisons will help you determine if a home gym or commercial gym membership is the right direction for you.

Good for you for taking the step towards a better physical condition. You can do it!

How to introduce a ferret as a pet in the home

Ferrets are one of the most common household pets in the United States. They rank as the third most popular pet only after dogs and cats. Ferrets are part of the weasel family and are also related to mink, badgers, and otters. These animals are very easy to train as they are receptive to any type of training. They are playful creatures that the whole family can enjoy and therefore keeping ferrets as pets around the house is very common.

Ferrets live 8 to 10 years if they do not suffer from any major disease. A young ferret is known as a kit. A fully grown adult male can weigh up to 2 pounds, while a female weighs half this weight. These animals can live in cold climates, however, they do not prefer hot climates.

If you have a ferret as a pet at home, you must take care of it to prevent diseases. Find out about your dietary needs before you buy a pet ferret. This will help you feed the animal the right food from the day you introduce it into your home.

Remember, dairy, nuts and sweets should be avoided as they are bad for your health. Kits must be weaned after 6 weeks. These animals should be fed crushed and boiled vegetables and fruits.

Ferrets need a lot of attention as they are very playful animals. Therefore, households that have young children should avoid having such a pet.

Tacos tend to nibble and bite at the tips of fingers and toes. As they grow older, they also tend to chew on furniture. This behavior must be ruled out from the moment the animal begins to show such behavior. Along with litter training, this is another training that you will need to offer your pet.

Ferrets need a lot of attention, so if your lifestyle requires you to be away from home most of the day, this is not the pet for you. Ferrets also love chaos, so if you’re a quiet person who prefers a quiet home, avoid keeping a ferret as a pet.

Real Estate in Kenya: Top 6 Things to Consider Before Buying Land

Real estate investment in Kenya offers you numerous options. Buying land is one of the factors that you need to consider before buying land in Kenya.

Development perspective:
Are you buying land for residential or commercial purposes? Do you want to build your house, flats to rent or premises to rent? Your answer to these questions can determine the location of the land you should purchase. For example, if you want to build apartments for rent, consider areas with nearby local facilities, such as supermarkets, schools and health centers. Many families prefer to live just a couple of miles from their children’s school. Therefore, this will affect where they rent a house.

To lease:
You’ve heard it before: location, location, location. Affects considerable price. Half an acre of land can cost 10 times more in Runda compared to the Embakasi area. However, Embakasi is closer to the airport than Runda. The location of the land you want to buy should fit your goals for real estate development in Kenya.

Distance from the main road:
The further you get from the main road, the cheaper the plot of land will be. However, security can also be compromised. If you’re buying land with the goal of building a rental property, you may have to deal with less rental income if you build away from the main road. I was looking for a house to rent recently and settled for a smaller property that was closer to the main road rather than a larger one further out.

Access to Water, Electricity and Telephone Lines:
Some real estate areas in Kenya, such as Kitengela, are not very developed and may lack electricity and telephone lines, as well as running water. However, the lack of these facilities makes land cheaper, but at what cost. My mother bought a couple of acres in Kitengela and had to build her own well and pump water into the house. She also had to order electricity from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company. Fortunately for her, it turned out to be a smooth process. It is cheaper to buy land in those areas, but you must be prepared to bear the additional costs and delays. Sometimes, like in the case of my mother, it was worth it.

Earth texture:
Well, believe it or not, the texture of the soil affects the value of Kenyan real estate. Black cotton soil areas tend to be cheaper compared to red soil regions. For example, parts of the Mombasa highway have black cotton soil and cannot be compared with red soil areas like Karen, Muthaiga or Runda. Soil texture also affects construction costs.

Sewer rental:
Some areas have sewage restrictions and are therefore not suitable for certain types of real estate development in Kenya. Developments along the famous Ngong Road have been restricted due to overloaded sewage. If you intend to build an apartment complex for sale or rent, you should check the sewerage restrictions as well as other planning restrictions issued by the local council.

Taking all these factors into account, buying land in Kenya should be smooth sailing.

How to Maintain Your Waste Disposal Unit in 7 Steps

A waste disposal unit is a device that sits under a sink to grind up food waste that might not otherwise go through the pipes. A waste disposal unit comes in handy when it comes to keeping unpleasant odors out of your garbage cans and kitchen. However, you must take proper care of that unit to keep it functional. Here are 7 easy steps to do it.

1. Avoid putting hard objects in your garbage disposal. Hard bones, unpopped popcorn kernels, crabs, hard shrimp shells are things that can dull the grinder and make it less efficient. However, each waste disposal unit has its own capacity for the hard materials it might receive. Generally, the more expensive the device, the more hardness it has. A list of objects to avoid should be included in the instruction manual. Anything that is not suitable for your garbage disposal should go to the dumpster.

2. Keep stringy or starchy items out of the disposer. Both could seriously clog the waste removal unit. Here is a list of items you should avoid throwing in the trash:

  • potato skins
  • artichokes
  • banana peels
  • coffee grains
  • celery
  • onion skin
  • fruit pits and hard seeds
  • eggshells

3. Things that are not suitable for disposal could be composted. All of the things mentioned above are easily composted. Follow this link for more information on composting.

4. Do not put hard items or garbage in the garbage disposal. Some items just aren’t destined for a disposal unit. Here are some examples of things to avoid throwing in the trash:

  • Utensils
  • glass, nails, screws
  • cloth, rags, thong, sponges
  • twist ties, rubber bands
  • toy
  • fat
  • hatred

For items like the above, you can call a garbage collection company.

5. Cut large food scraps into smaller pieces. If the item is too large for disposal, cut it into smaller pieces and place them in the disposal unit one at a time. Don’t try to put in a large amount at once.

6. Use cold water to push debris down the drain. Run cold water for 30 to 60 seconds after grinding the debris. Keep the disposer on while the water is running. Cold water not only helps the debris go down easier, it also prevents the disposal unit from overheating. NEVER use hot water as it can melt the fat and once the fat re-solidifies it could block the drain.

7. Clean your waste disposal unit regularly. Use a paper towel to clean the inner side of the rubber leading to removal. Make sure the unit is turned off. To remove debris buildup from the edges of the shredder, use ice. Throw a few ice cubes down the drain while the disposal is running. For a fresh scent, put in some orange peel or any citrus peel.

Highest Value O-Pee-Chee Rookie Hockey Cards from 1968-69

The 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee hockey card game marked the company’s first NHL production since 1940-41. This was the first time the 1967 NHL expansion teams were included in a set. Of course, Bobby Orr of the Boston Bruins leads the way when it comes to value. The top four rookie cards are not far behind and feature some pretty impressive hockey players.

Bernie Parent-Philadelphia Flyers

Number 89 in the 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee ensemble features Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Bernie Parent of the Philadelphia Flyers. With a book value of $250, this is the highest value rookie card in the set. Interestingly, Parent played 39 of Boston’s 70 games in his rookie season, but Topps didn’t include him. He played another 18 with the Bruins in 1966-67 and 38 with the Flyers in 1967-68, making him almost a veteran when his rookie card finally came out.

Bernie retired after the 1978-79 National Hockey League season and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984. Along the way, he played for the Bruins, Flyers, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Parent also spent a season in the WHA with the Philadelphia Blazers.

The Flyers might not have been a two-time Stanley Cup champion in the 1970s without Bernie Parent. The team won consecutively in 1973-74 and 1974-75. In each of those seasons, Parent received the Vezina Trophy during the regular season and the Conn Smythe Trophy in the playoffs.

Mickey Redmond – Montreal Canadians

Number 64 in the 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee set is Mickey Redmond’s rookie card and has a book value of $70. Redmond played in the NHL from 1967-68 to 1975-76 with the Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings. Mickey won a Stanley Cup championship with the Habs in 1968-69, but became an individual star in the league only after he was traded to the Red Wings. In 1972-73, Redmond scored 52 goals and the following year he scored 51.

Keith McCreary – Pittsburgh Penguins

Number 193 is Keith McCreary’s rookie card and has a book value of $40. However, the card has such a high value due to an error. There were some that were produced with the card number missing from the back. These cards are the ones with such a high value. If the card actually has the number 193 on the back, it is valued as a plain common card.

Keith’s NHL career began in earnest in 1961-62 when he played in a playoff game for the Montreal Canadiens. He played more games for Montreal in 1964-65. However, it was not until the NHL’s expansion in 1967 that McCreary became a regular in the National Hockey League. He played through the end of the 1974-75 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Atlanta Flames.

Garry Unger – Detroit Red Wings

Number 142 is Garry Unger’s rookie card and has a book value of $30. Unger is the No. 2 ironman in NHL history, holding the record for most consecutive games played until Doug Jarvis, the current ironman, broke it a few years later.

Garry played in the NHL from 1967-68 to 1982-83 with the Maple Leafs, Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, Atlanta Flames, Los Angeles Kings, and Edmonton Oilers. His first year was split between Toronto and Detroit and Unger is listed as a member of the Red Wings on his 1968-69 hockey card.

Top things to do in Kuala Lumpur

Whether you’re looking for an exciting weekend getaway or a long vacation filled with cultural learning, Kuala Lumpur has a lot to offer. The food, the sites, the culture and the fun attractions make this capital city a place for a short or long vacation, either alone or with family and friends.

Probably the number one and most obvious attraction in Kuala Lumpur is the Petronas Twin Towers block. The Petronas Twin Towers are working commercial offices as well as a tourist site and shopping mall. If you visit the towers early in the morning, you will see many different people arriving at work for the day dressed in traditional work clothes. Some of Malaysia’s top professionals work in the twin towers, including employees from Microsoft, IBM, Boeing, Reuters and Al Jazeera. The Petronas Twin Towers have stunning views of the city, as well as one of the best art museums in Southeast Asia.

To learn more about art and museums, you can try visiting Petrosains. Petrosains is a museum of discovery and science for children and adults where you can interact with advanced technological displays. Unfortunately, the center is closed on Mondays, but it is open the rest of the week and is definitely worth a visit.

Another tech-focused exhibit is at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. The convention center itself is worth visiting for the views alone, but it’s also home to Kuala Lumpur’s premier aquarium, Aquaria. Aquaria has a number of different aquatic animals on display and also includes a fantastic underwater tunnel similar to something you might have seen in the movie Jaws 4. There are also sharks, although of course they are quite harmless from the safety of the tunnel view. .

For more nature and animals, try visiting the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. As the largest aviary in Malaysia, this impressive park helps visitors learn more about the world of birds. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about the natural habitats and dietary needs of birds, as well as see species that you would normally have very little interaction with.

Another place to visit to catch a glimpse of wildlife in a natural setting is the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve. The reserve is located in the center of the city, not far from the Kuala Lumpur Tower. You will most likely be just a short walk from your hotel in Kuala Lumpur city center and an even shorter taxi ride. You must pay to enter the park reserve, though free admission is granted for those with Kuala Lumpur Tower tickets. The reserve dates back more than 100 years and is a true relic of the traditional jungle of the metropolises. To see more animals, visit the Kuala Lumpur Zoo, also known as the National Zoo or Zoo Negara Malaysia.

Eating in Kuala Lumpur can also be a unique experience. In many places along your way, you’ll find several fast-food chain restaurants that have crisscrossed all the way across the Pacific, as well as a number of small, authentic restaurants with food that could blow your top with spices if you didn’t. be careful One of the best and most authentic places to eat in Kuala Lumpur is Chinatown. Here you will find a mix of many different authentic Chinese dishes as well as Malaysian cuisine. The smells will draw you in and the flavors will keep you eating. There is so much to choose from so make sure you visit with a hungry stomach and don’t forget to try everything. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Wear goth clothes to look good

Gothic fashion is considered kinky as it features black lips, dyed black hair, dark eyeliner, dark nails, and black clothing. Therefore, gothic fashion clothing is a great way to express dark feelings and thoughts. Gothic clothing fashion, which was also considered a protest against the extravagance of the 1980s, can be described as a profusion of dark velvets, fishnet stockings, lace, scarlet-shaded leather, tight-fitting corsets, gloves, adorned with frills. silvery. More elegant and sophisticated styles of dress were seen in the early Gothic period. The sleeves narrowed and the forearms became more important. Minimal embellishments on Gothic dresses were also a feature of the early Gothic period. Gothic dresses became longer and the necklines deeper. As time went on, gothic clothing styles changed and fabrics became more rigid in appearance.

One of the gothic garments, the gothic corset, is a garment that shapes a girl’s body like an hourglass. It is historical in nature as it takes you back to the Victorian and medieval times. Gothic corsets are a great fashion garment as it was in medieval times. At first, gothic corsets were very uncomfortable to wear. It was with the passage of time that gothic corsets became softer and more comfortable. Many of the goth garments, such as fishnet stockings, are friendly to the summer temperature. Fishing nets can be worn on the legs, arms, or even as shirts and jumpers. Long skirts with lace trims, flowy chiffon skirts and cotton bloomers are some of those pieces of gothic clothing that are very comfortable to wear in the summer. Male goths can wear light natural fiber shirts and short black pants. Wide-brimmed hats and black umbrellas are also widely used by the Goths as accessories.

Gothic fashion boots are one of many attractive gothic fashion accessories. Goth women generally wear boots with high heels, while goth men wear flat boots. The color of the boots is usually dark black. However, one in a blue moon, you can see goths in blood red boots. Gothic boots used to be heavy as they were worn at work.

In the 1910s, the look gave a boost to some sort of gothic fashion. She inspired many to follow the style of her dark eyeshadow. Bettie Page, David Bowie and Robert Smith are the other icons of the gothic style. Gothic clothing is not exclusive to American and European countries. The clothing fashion is also gaining popularity in eastern countries like China and India. The important point of goth clothing is to highlight your best goth features.

5 Simple Ways to Find 9 Hours of Job Search Time Per Week

Do you want more time to look for a job? Would you like to find 9 hours of job search time per week? Do you find yourself asking yourself these questions?

“How am I supposed to look for a job, when I’m employed?”

“Finding a job is a full-time job…and I already have a job. How am I supposed to do this?”

Sounds familiar? It’s a perplexing dilemma in today’s world of overscheduling, multitasking, and super-achieving. But there is help. These strategies and tools have been proven to generate at least 9 hours a week that can be used for job hunting, when these tactics are employed consistently and diligently.

Are you ready for the challenge? Here goes – 5 ways to find more hours for your job search:

(1) Turn off all notifications on your smartphone and your computer. (Earnings 2.5 hours minimum)

This is not as easy as it sounds. It can be a multi-stage process and may actually take a couple of weeks to figure out. First of all, just turning off Notification Center for a particular item (eg email, Facebook) doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t get notifications anymore… oh no. There is more to do. In addition to that, you need to disable the alert style (to avoid getting banner alerts) and the Badge app icon (or you will get the icon popup notification number which can make your notification addiction frenzy again) .

These steps must be followed for EVERY app/feature on your iPhone. This elimination of constant distractions (SQUIRREL!) can save about 10 seconds checking each notification, about 150 notifications per day conservatively, which is a savings of 2.5 hours per week (10 seconds x 150 notifications x 7 days) .

(2) Unsubscribe from newsletters. Or at least get them out of your main email account. (Earnings 3.25 hours per week).

Unsubscribe from newsletters you haven’t read for more than a week after receiving them. And others you read/scan for professional development and general interest, please redirect them to another dedicated email address just for newsletters. Some have decided to use Feedly as an alternative to Google Reader. Gmail users can now use sorting and prioritizing features to move newsletters to another area. Choose your poison, but do it now.

The good news: Your email may slow down to the point where you feel like you need to check that your email is working occasionally. (Can you say detox?) The time saved by not reading these emails on the fly, being interrupted, and having to refocus on a project at hand can be quite significant. At least 45 minutes per day, or 5.25 hours per week. Instead, schedule two 1-hour slots per week to read the articles in the designated newsletter email account. And since you’re focused on reading, you can create definite action items from the newly absorbed knowledge. Net time saved? 5.25 hours minus 2 hours is 3.25 hours saved.

(3) Establish job search processes and systems to streamline your time. (Earnings 1.25 Hours)

Not having to create letters, personalize resumes, and other communications from scratch each time will easily save you 1.25 hours a week. For example, if you send 5 shipments per week and each one takes 45 minutes (3.75 hours), if you set up custom templates for the document types you use most often and don’t start customization from scratch, you can easily cut that time. of application by 33%, or a saving of 1.25 hours.

The suggested processes to create are:

• Save your resume as a personal template with highlighted sections to customize every time, but in a simple way that saves you time. Once you’ve made all your customizations, save that version of your resume to a named resume file for easy future search.

• Have multiple templates of your personal cover letters created (ie Formal, Job Posting Response, Networking, Recommended by So-in-So). Like the tip above, don’t start your customizations from the beginning every time. Have template variations made with the common changes you make and start your customization later in the process, saving you time.

• Organize your time and applications with an Excel spreadsheet or applications like ApplyMate or JibberJobber to track contact dates, contacts made, and future actions to take.

(4) Set up job alerts to get the right jobs sent to you. Don’t troll job boards. (Easy 2 hours/week of time savings).

The most popular and specialized job boards have an alert function. On Google, you can set up Google alerts, where common searches you do for job openings can receive search results periodically. There’s no greater time waster than scrolling through long job listings looking for the right jobs to apply for.

(5) Finally, and this is the most important step, you have to prioritize it.

Learn to say ‘no’ to commitments that don’t support your ability to create time for your job search. If you don’t prioritize it, no one else will. Not your spouse, not your co-workers, not your executive coach, not your responsible partner, not your manager, not your children, not your friends…no one will prioritize this for you. So you need to protect your time and protect it with your life. Saying ‘no’ is the most powerful way to achieve this. If you want to do a job search, you will. There’s no ‘time saver’ for this step, per say, but if your head is focused on your job search, you’ll find a way to make time for it.

Hopefully, these tips will help you find more time to search for a job and land the job you’ve been looking for. Another great tip is to find a professional resume writing and job search service to help you with your job search. They can save you a considerable amount of time by providing you with a great targeted resume.

Twitter and Metcalfe’s law: why it will continue to grow

Twitter and Metcalfe’s Law don’t seem to have much in common, at first. Metcalfe’s law describes how the value of a network is affected by the number of nodes it has (specifically, the more users a network has, the more connections each new user creates), and Twitter’s goal is that It is not a network. It’s just a way for people to communicate.

But Twitter has become a kind of network of its own. People use Twitter to talk to each other, or to look for new trends, and integrate other services with it. Metcalfe’s Law comes into play when you look at what happens every time Twitter adds a new service or a new user.

At that point, Metcalfe’s Law and Twitter collide: a new Twitter user can use any of the new services, or contact any existing user, or be contacted by any existing user. If there are ten million users, each new user creates ten million potential conversations. This means that each new user increases the value by Following use.

The math of Metcalfe’s Law and Twitter gets even more complicated when you look at apps that use Twitter. Take Foursquare, for example: every new Foursquare user makes Foursquare more popular within Twitter. And when that happens, Twitter becomes more attractive to new users, some of whom may end up using Foursquare! Twitter and Metcalfe’s Law interact in unpredictable ways to make Twitter grow even faster than Metcalfe’s Law predicts.

You can’t analyze a phenomenon like Twitter without thinking about Metcalfe’s Law. But simply running the numbers is not enough. You also need to understand the reasoning behind them, which shows that numbers only tell the whole story if you know how to use them.
