Stop Kodi buffering

How to stop Kodi buffering

Video buffering issues on Kodi can be frustrating and negatively impact your live video streaming experience. There are several ways to stop and bypass buffering on Kodi.

Optimize Firestick: Explained

The Amazon Fire Stick is basically a budget Android tablet that has no screen and runs a custom version of the Android operating system, known as the Fire OS. Therefore, the Fire Stick has some physical limitations regarding the amount of memory available for streaming movies and TV shows. So it is a good idea to check your Fire Stick / FireTV box regularly and optimize it with (Clean Master).

Speed Test

Before doing anything, run a speed test to see how the Internet works. Some connections are too slow to play videos in high-quality settings without buffering. If you want to stream in HD quality, it is recommended that you have at least 5 Mbps.

Like your phone, the Fire Stick gets stuck with small “temporary” files that the system never deletes, so we have to delete them ourselves by following these steps.

How to optimize Fire Stick

1) Remove additional applications from your Fire Stick by going to Applications in the main menu of FireStick. Then select an app you don’t need and hit Uninstall.

2) Install Clean Master for TV on your Fire Stick and use it to increase the available RAM of your Fire Stick by closing applications and processes that use background resources without any benefit to the user.

3) Make more distance from your TV to the Fire Stick. Why? Because electromagnetic interference can confuse the Fire Stick’s WiFi. So get a $ 5 HDMI cable that’s about 6 feet long (2 meters) and use it to keep your Fire Stick away from your TV to avoid EM interference.

Effects of optimizing FireStick and Fire TV

You’ll see reduced Kodi buffering after optimizing your FireStick, and you’ll see increased ability for Kodi and Our builds to connect to streaming sources when you choose a stream on a TV add-on like Kodi, Mobdro, and various other apps. we add. Menu lag is usually significantly reduced after optimizing your device. Another way to greatly reduce your buffering is to install a VPN, IPvanish is the best out there today.

THE STEPS BELOW ARE FOR (ENLARGE WITHIN KODI)

Limit the number of active devices on your network.

Multiple devices being used on the same Internet network will consume the bandwidth of that network and cause buffering, especially if your router cannot handle a large traffic load. When streaming videos, make sure internet usage is limited on all devices.

Lower the video quality in the settings.

Lowering the quality of videos helps decrease bandwidth and buffering instances. If you use third-party software or services to stream videos, please change the video quality through the settings menu.

Consider using a wired Internet connection.

Wireless Internet connections are more likely to be disrupted by signal, frequency, and physical obstructions such as walls or furniture. Try switching to a wired connection to help eliminate problems with buffering.

These are just a few suggestions for removing buffering. Give these a try and if you’re still having buffering issues, we can give you other suggestions. Feel free to comment at any time.

In this article, we’ll look at some actions you can take to improve performance on a Fire TV Stick so it works like new again. Many of these adjustments will have a dramatic impact on their own, but together they add up to a significant power boost and can speed up your shot.

Uninstall unused apps and plugins

This may seem obvious, but applications and plugins take up memory space and can run in the background, hogging resources. Uninstall the apps you don’t use and also remove the Kodi add-ons you don’t use. To uninstall the Fire TV apps, do the following:

Press and hold the Home (home) button.

Select Settings> Applications

Select Manage installed applications

Select the application you want to uninstall

Click Uninstall, then Uninstall again to confirm

Please note that some apps come pre-installed on Fire TV and cannot be uninstalled. We will show you what to do with the following.

Force stop unused apps

Unused apps that don’t have the uninstall option, or apps that you would like to keep but just don’t use much, can be stopped from running in the background. To do this, follow the exact same steps that you would use to uninstall the application as described above. This time, instead of selecting Uninstall, choose Force Stop. It may not be clear that something happened at first, but the app will no longer weigh your Fire Stick.

Clear data and cache

In the same menu where the Uninstall and Force Stop options are, you will also see Clear Data and Clear Cache. You can use them in almost every application whether you use it or not, but it is definitely worth doing it in applications that you don’t use that often. Perform these actions in the order they appear: Clear data, then Clear cache. This will also prevent apps that you have force stopped from automatically reloading later.

Turn off features you don’t use

Press and hold the Home (home) button.

Select Settings> Applications

Select Collect app usage data and choose Disable

Select Prime Photos, uncheck Allow Guest Connections, and uncheck Access Prime Photos, assuming you don’t use this feature.

Select the app store. Here you can disable Automatic Updates, which downloads and installs new versions of your apps in the background. However, keep in mind that you still need to update your apps regularly to receive important security updates. We recommend disabling this only temporarily to improve performance when necessary. You can also squeeze a bit more performance by disabling in-app purchases and notifications.

Disable data monitoring

Data monitoring can be a useful tool to make sure you don’t exceed your ISP’s monthly data allowance, but download and upload tracking uses a small amount of system resources that can be better applied elsewhere. places. To disable data monitoring, do the following:

Press and hold the Home (home) button.

Select Settings> Preferences

Select Data monitoring

Click Data Monitoring to disable it

App notifications

Not only can app notifications be annoying, but they also affect performance to a mild degree. Fire TV allows users to disable notifications entirely or on an app-by-app basis. Access your notification settings by doing the following:

Press and hold the Home (home) button.

Select Settings> Preferences

Select Notification Settings

Enable Do Not Disturb by clicking it, or click App Notifications to turn off notifications for individual apps.

Another way to speed up your fire stick

Use a VPN, ISPs have been known to reduce their customers’ bandwidth for various reasons, but many particularly disapprove of Kodi users, whether they are used for legal activities or not.

To avoid this, we recommend that you connect your Amazon Fire TV Stick to a VPN. Short for Virtual Private Network, a VPN encrypts all internet traffic on a device and routes it through an intermediary server at a location of your choice.

Should Retirees Get Out of the Stock Market?

Last week we witnessed the stock market hit a record correction with a 12% drop. Oh. It’s like we’ve stubbed our toes in the middle of the night. We didn’t see it coming and it hurts. Our reaction is to limp into the light. If we could see it, things would be a little easier, knowing which direction to move.

But where do we go? And how do we protect ourselves in the future?

It is important to note that while we feel bad, the markets have done nothing wrong. However, in fact, the market corrections are healthy. In fact, they help bring us back to the average averages. The opportunity of all this gives us unique investment opportunities that allow us, as investors, to buy companies at a less expensive price.

How should I invest if I can’t handle the market downturn?

The simple answer is don’t be afraid when the market turns volatile. This is the entry price when you invest in the stock market!

If this past week made you nervous, lost sleep, or just got sick, you probably have too much risk in your portfolio.

See this week’s rebound as a great opportunity to rebalance your allocations and reduce risk. It can also be a great time to take some of your profits, add short market hedges, and raise some cash.

How Much Investment Risk Should You Take When You Retire?

To start, look at your level of risk. As a retiree or soon to retire, you might consider 40% bonuses and 60% stocks. Of course, these numbers are adjustable, depending on your individual plan.

How do you know if this is right for you? Go back to your retirement plan. If you don’t have one, get started now.

Tip: Your retirement and investment plan should change when the market changes. Stay away from hobbyist financial advisers who have set their sights on a cookie cutter approach. Words buy and hold they are not what you want to hear! There is a better way! But a retirement plan is a must.

Second, review your return sequence risk. What’s that? A return sequence risk reviews a fund’s withdrawal risk, especially for withdrawals that make withdrawals during a bear market.

It is more than a rate of return or the amount of a loss. This is a calculation of retirement retirement + time + market conditions to determine if you will run out of money or not.

If you are a retiree in the distribution phase of life, your focus should be on your retirement income, NOT the rate of return. Therefore, as mentioned above, you may want to start a conversation with your advisor about your market exposure and investment income exposure.

Stocks are risky, bonds pay very little. Do I keep investing in stocks?

The short answer is yes. It is advisable to have exposure to stocks in your general portfolio. Statistically, people live longer and, over time, having more opportunities for high returns will help them tremendously in their retirement years.

For example, if you look at target date funds within retirement plans, they are responding by holding large amounts of shares for at least the first part of their retirement years.

You can determine the amount of risk you are comfortable with by taking a risk assessment. By doing so, you can get a good picture of what a 10%, 15%, and 20% market drop will look like on your portfolio to help you determine what you are comfortable with and how much you should hold in stocks.

What is happening with the bonds?

Let’s talk about bonds. Currently, they offer low interest rates, however, when interest rates increase, the stock market tends to react negatively. So when we see the Federal Reserve start to raise rates, they should do so, but not so fast as to limit economic growth.

Last week, the 10-year treasury bond rose to 2.9%. Currently, this rate appears to be ours BANG point where the stock market does fun things. So as the Fed has indicated a rate hike to keep inflation under control in 2018, they may need to reconsider their plan to continue economic growth.

If interest rates continue to rise and the Fed continues to reduce its purchase of outstanding bonds, we could see an uptrend beginning in bonds.

Where the rubber meets the road

Even though the market has stumbled in the last week, I advise you not to sell everything and put in cash. Pretty; use the current rally to reduce and rebalance portfolio risk, adjust those hedges as needed, and slightly (not all) increase cash positions.

Also stay diligent and aware of market conditions (use the 5-minute Market Update or real-time updates), but always remember that bull markets will come to an end. The prudent strategy is always to manage risk and make sure your long-term retirement goals remain stable.

The principles of design for kitchens and bathrooms

Good design is defined as the unity of design and a timeless appearance. But to achieve unity and a timeless appearance, all design principles must be taken into account. Remodeling your kitchen and bathroom is much more than selecting accessories and painting the walls. A good remodel will have a well thought out design concept that begins with design principles as the foundation.

The principles are balance, rhythm, emphasis / focal point, scale, proportion, and harmony / unity. To have a better understanding of these concepts, we will see each of them related to bathroom remodel planning and kitchen planning.

Let’s start with balance, which is the distribution of the visual weight of objects, colors, textures and space. In a recent vanity design, a client requested that tiles be installed above the vanity on the entire wall and considered placing tiles on the entire wall, not just above the vanity. The vanity, being very small, could only visually support a small number of tiles without the space feeling bulky or heavy. Based on the principle of balance, we opted for less is more and decided not to do the whole wall. We also thought about the light pendants that we chose, again, wanting to keep the room balanced, we chose streamlined lights that had very little volume and transparent glass to keep the balance of the space with a feeling of light. These decisions helped make the design of this small room feel spacious even with the lack of square footage.

Moving on to the beat. The easiest way to create rhythm within a space is to repeat design elements that can include line, shape, texture, color, pattern, and light. In a recent bathroom project, we used floral tile in the shower, on the floor, and on an accent wall. We repeat the pattern in several areas on mute colored tiles to give rhythm to the bathroom. In a recent kitchen we used straight lines on cabinet doors, hardware, light fixtures, and furniture to create rhythm and flow. The idea is to keep the gaze moving in a natural way that makes one feel relaxed and comfortable in the space and never overwhelmed.

Accent / focal point is one of my favorite design principles to work with. The idea here is to show a part of the design and keep the viewer’s attention. Often referred to as the “wow” factor, you can be as creative as you like as long as you think about the rest of the design principles. One of my favorite design projects was a master bathroom that was designed in marble. The whole bathroom was amazing, so creating a focal point meant we had to get creative. The solution was to build a false wall to house a fireplace and a wall-to-wall niche with herringbone tiles that was accentuated by the sun from a skylight. Although the entire space was impressive, everyone who entered kept their attention on the false wall we created. Focal point achieved!

Scale refers to the ratio of two or more objects, one having a commonly known size. In a kitchen, we know that the average prep sink is 12×12. When selecting a faucet for this sink, it would not be appropriate to select a large commercial kitchen or gooseneck faucet.

The proportion is an obvious principle and easy to detect if it is not calculated correctly. Simply put, you can’t have a nine foot walk-in shower in a bathroom that’s only 8×9. The shower ratio is overwhelming and too big for the space. Similarly, we would not use a giant chandelier destined for the cathedral ceiling in a kitchen with eight-foot ceilings. Scale and proportion go hand in hand and are a very important part of good design.

Harmony is all the different elements that come together to create a beautiful and well thought out design. In a recent mid-century makeover, we thought about every element we add to the space. We chose dark blue tile, bold gold fixtures, walnut-colored cabinets, and turn-of-the-century lights. Once all the elements were combined, the harmony of the space became apparent. We would not have added polka dot or nickel finishes to this design. Anything outside the middle of the century would have disrupted the flow.

Design has endless possibilities, and with due care given to design principles, any bathroom or kitchen can become a showcase.

Spring Smallmouth Bass Location and Jerk Bait Presentation

When the snow melts and lake and river temperatures start to rise, it’s time to prepare for smallmouth bass before spawning. Hard-bodied or articulated jerk baits designed to be suspended in water are an excellent choice at this time of year, especially on cloudy and windy days when the smallmouth appears to be more aggressive. On the contrary, it seems that slower moving weightless plastics seem to work better on calm, sunny days.

Tackle and tackle: I normally use 3 sticks mounted to fish with a jerk bait.

  1. Medium fast action 7 ‘rod with a reel of 5: 1 or more, Abu Garcia makes a great pair of reels for jerk bait fishing. Line it up with a 15 pound braid with a fluorocarbon leader and you have a great setup for your larger hard baits and larger spinning lures.

  2. I love this setup on sunny mornings. 6’3 “Medium Lightweight Quantum MXP Rod, 4: 1 Spinning Reel, 10lb Braid w / 18-Inch 8lb Fluorocarbon Guide. This is my soft plastic pull and pull bail setup., Offset hooks # 3 1 / 64-1 / 32oz weighted (optional).

  3. Daiwa Medium 7 ‘spinning rod with a spinning reel of 4: 1 or higher with 6 pound fluorocarbon line. This is a wild rod, in the past I have had success with this using weightless fins as well as smaller hard bodied baits. What I have found is that since the fluorocarbon line sags it has a tendency to take the hard and soft plastic baits a little deeper and the 6 pound line feels a little better with the lighter baits than the 10 pound baitcasting launch configuration. If I could only take one, I would take this one because I think it is the most versatile, but the other settings are specific to the task.

Baits:

  1. Hard Baits: Husky Jerk # 10, Floating Raps # 7, Berkley Cutter 90 are great options. Natural colors in clear waters and heavily fished areas, white, pearl, perch and Chartreuse are the winners in spring in spotted water.

  2. Soft Body Baits – Zoom super fluke 5 “, these simply have great movement and seem to outperform any other soft plastic baits that I use. In recent years, Berkley Gulp Alive, KVD and others have also featured good quality products. Texas rigged without weeds, these baits are dynamite in the spring.

Rental

Spring is such a good time for smallmouth because at no other time of year are its patterns more predictable and there are so many large females “stacked” in the same place. Focusing on areas of deep water falls and inland spawning areas 10 feet deep with gravel bottom and soil structure is a great place to start. Large egg-laden females will actively feed and may have multiple trophies in the same small cleft or around the same stump. The smallmouth will spend most of the winter in 30-40 feet of water and then move to shallow plains just after the ice is removed and until spawning, which usually begins when the water temperature reaches 50 ° C. Any large floor in 8-15 feet of water along with 30-40 shelves is a good place to start. Look for a gravel bottom, often a good pile of rocks or stump could contain 10 large females during this time of year.

Largemouths often need to see baits a couple of times before deciding to attack if they are not actively feeding, so if you see an attractive spot, make 3-4 casts before moving. When they are feeding and you catch one, be sure to cast back to the same spot because large females are rarely alone at this time of year. This can be one of the funniest and fastest fishing of the year. When they are feeding, it is not out of the question to land five four-pound fish in ten sets.

When it’s cloudy and windy, it seems to shake its small mouth and have the best bite. Whenever I use a jerk bait in the wind, I always use larger and heavier hard body baits. I also work the bait faster than with soft plastics. Rapala Husky Jerk 10 is a favorite bait in these conditions, with white, chartreuse and pearl white being the hot colors. I always check with a bait shop or online for hot colors in a particular body of water.

Soft plastics are an art form, and I like to install them on calm, sunny days. I work the bait about 3-5 feet deep with longer pulls mixed with short ticks. One key tip is to keep a constant slack in the line, especially when using the braided line setting, it will give the bait a more erratic dart movement and the contractions will look more realistic. Also use the line as your hit indicator, when you see the slack tighten set that hook. I remember once a friend and I were in the same boat using the same colors and the same bait. The only difference was that he added miniscule weight and was working the bait at a rate that averaged 3 sets on each of my casts. At the end of the 75 minutes it was 14 fish and he had 1 and I averaged 16 “per fish with a four pound pair, nineteen inches smaller. The only difference was that he had no added weight and was working the bait very slow, sometimes as slow as 4-6 seconds between actions. This method is especially deadly on a calm sunny morning, smallmouths are not as nervous as they will be when the wind picks up, but they are always ready for an easy meal. This is usually the first lure I start with and the last one I finish with.

For the people who fish them, spring bass fishing is one of a kind. Using jerk and twitch baits is one of the most fun ways to catch them. Tight lines!

How to promote your business on Facebook

Regardless of whether yours is a small or large company, Facebook is an online platform that you cannot afford to ignore when it comes to promoting our company. The modern trend is that most consumers search the web for even local businesses, most of which are on Facebook. In addition to its position as the largest social media site due to its large number of registered users, the site puts at your disposal a good number of features that you can use to effectively promote your business.

Promoting your business on Facebook requires you to create a business landing page, which will serve as your social media site. Although similar to the traditional Facebook profile page, this will be specifically for your business or brand. Because it is from the page that you will interact with potential customers, you need to create it in such a way that it reflects your business or brand.

Certainly creating a business page on Facebook is not enough when you need to promote your business. You need to start by connecting with Facebook users. Facebook provides you with the “Create audience” tool located in the administration menu of your page. The tool allows you to invite both your Facebook friends and your email contacts who have the option to follow your page. In addition to your friends and email contacts, you should advertise your Facebook page URL through other means to get more followers.

There really is no point in gaining followers if you don’t keep them engaged. You need to create relevant content that your followers like, share, and comment on. Posting relevant content on a regular basis will have the positive effect of attracting more followers as they are shared, which will actually increase your chances of making sales. Engaging your followers is not limited to creating relevant content. The Facebook Bid tool is a valuable tool to use to attract customers. The tool allows you to create redeemable coupons that your followers can use in your store.

One of the most effective ways to promote your business on Facebook is to create Facebook Ads. Facebook actually provides you with the necessary ad creation tool complete with a monitoring tool that you can use to monitor the performance of your ad (s). Although you pay for the same, the cost is minimal. In fact, it indicates how much you are willing to pay for your ads. Additionally, Facebook gives you the opportunity to choose the users you want your ads to reach and geographic location, among other important factors.

Without a doubt, this is a simple and straightforward way to promote your business on Facebook. However, in doing so, you should remain aware of the fact that Facebook advertising is all about relationship marketing. Therefore, you should not expect to start reaping benefits instantly. Your initial goal should be to gain a meaningful follow-up that you can trust for a long-term business relationship.

Finding the good in every situation, whatever happens

If you focus on finding what is good in every situation, you will find that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nourishes the soul. “ Rabbi Harold Kushner

Think of a time in your life when you thought “Happily ever after” was not in your plans. During this time, you may have felt that nothing pleasant would ever appear. Yet somehow through the struggle, fear, and confusion, he found some benefits in his situation. Eventually, things changed, almost like magic, and your life worked itself out.

This is how it happened to me …

A couple of months before my 30th birthday, I was battling a deep depression. I was comparing my life in a very unfavorable way with that of my friends. They were all married, had nice houses, drove nice cars, and had nice children. I thought they had everything and that their lives were perfect. I, on the other hand, was dating Mr. “Right now,” renting a house, renting a car, and living with my four cats (a recipe for dating disaster, trust me. Have you ever seen the expression on a -Cat person when he discovers that you have four cats? You can almost see his brain imagining the future you: 87 years old with seventy-six cats running around the house. For example.) Back to my point …

I was sick and tired of being sick and tired, and I knew I needed to get out of my depression. I decided to have a little chat with myself and asked myself, “What’s GOOD about my situation?” It took me a while, but I finally realized: “Wait a minute, I do NOT own a house, I do NOT have children, I do NOT have a car and I do not have a husband. BEST times of my life! I am in control of my life: I can do what I want, when I want, and I don’t have to answer to anyone. Life is good! “(I found out later that my friends thought I had an amazing life to begin with, as I didn’t have all the heavy responsibilities that they did. The grass always seems to be greener on the other side, doesn’t it?)

It has been said that nature abhors a vacuum and when you remove negativity from your perspective, you open yourself up to an influx of positivity. By shedding my negative attitude and looking for the positive, I created the void that gave my story a happy ending.

Within three months of my attitude adjustment, the love of my life, Scott, appeared. If I hadn’t cleared the space for him, breaking up with Mr. Now and appreciating where he was in my life, it might not have happened.

Do you have a tendency to compare yourself unfavorably with others? What do you feel is currently missing in your life that everyone around you seems to possess? Think for a minute: Is it possible that you have some things that others would like to have? Are you open to receiving what you want?

Start a list of the things you have. This may not be easy to do if you’ve been particularly hard on yourself lately. Be patient with yourself and add to the list as often as possible. Over time, your perspective will begin to change. You will come to realize the blessings that have been taken for granted for years. There really is something good in every situation. Know that it takes practice and conscious effort to find it at the beginning of your appreciation practice. It gets easier as the habit is formed, and your appreciation will be as natural as your negativity used to be.

Have fun,

Lisa

When you clear your resentment, envy and / or disappointment towards yourself or towards others, you open the space to receive the people, events and circumstances that you want to enter your life.

Supply drop addiction

The makers of Call of Duty have finally found an answer to a growing problem in the COD franchise. The only revenue a company used to raise when creating a video game was the initial sales of the game itself. Call of Duty games have traditionally released in November, just before the holidays. Activision and other COD makers would see a huge increase in sales at the end of each year, but that’s about it. So how can video game makers keep squeezing money out of gamers all year long? The answer: the offer falls.

First introduced in Advanced Warfare in 2014, Supply Drops allowed the player to play the lottery to “win” better weapons, cooler camouflages, and stylish virtual gear. Sledgehammer Games, the creator of AW, put this feature into the game as an added bonus for players who played a lot (and earned ‘keys’ to unlock supplies with every game played) or spent real money on “COD Points”. Each supply drop opening produced three items of varying rarity. Players can use their virtual ‘keys’ or COD points to open a common (lower chance of getting a rare item) or rare (higher chance of getting a rare item) supply drop. With each opening, players were given items to further customize their character or weapon to show off with their friends … and that’s why the supply drops were so successful (and honestly quite brilliant). Video game makers took advantage of the competitive and somewhat immature minds of gamers. Players can now evade the arduous task of getting 250 headshots for rare camouflage by purchasing more COD points. It took time and skill out of the equation for money. So the cash came pouring in.

The supply drops became so successful that Treyarch and Infinity Ward, the makers of Black Ops III and Infinite Warfare respectively, continued the trend. Call of Duty franchise creators could now continue to earn income for the life of the game, rather than just when a person purchases the game from the store. According to Activision’s 2016 Q4 earnings call, the company made an additional $ 3.6 billion through in-game content sales (primarily from COD: Black Ops III and Overwatch). That is incredible!

However, some players might say that supply drops are ruining the game. I agree, especially for CoD’s newest game, Infinite Warfare. In Infinite Warfare, weapon variants, or different (and statistically better) weapon versions, make playing public matches that much more frustrating. For example, the Erad used to be one of my favorite weapons in the game. I played with the common (base) variant, and was pretty good at it … until I came face to face with a player who had the legendary (rarer) variant of the pistol, called ‘cyclopean’. It literally fires a LASER BEAM instead of normal bullets. I had no chance. I was instantly killed over and over by the same player. I was so frustrated with this match that I ended up not wearing my standard Erad variant ever again. He knew that if he wanted a chance to win firefights, he needed Legendary weapon variants, which are pretty hard to come by without opening supply drops.

Supply drops are a hot topic in the Call of Duty community. They have been a great success for video game creators, as cash has never been more abundant; however, they give an unfair advantage to players who spend the most money. I like the old days of CoD4, where the only way to get rare camos was to play games and hone your skill, not buying your way to get more rare items.

Caffeine withdrawal and migraines

When it comes to migraines, caffeine is a strange drug. It is necessary to trigger the headache associated with a migraine. This trigger can present itself in many ways: certain foods, weather conditions, lighting. One of the triggers is excessive caffeine consumption. And yet, the pain of migraines can also be alleviated by ingesting caffeine. Talk about your two-way streets!

The number one cause of caffeine-related migraines is caffeine withdrawal. The good news is that it features two methods of using caffeine to actually prevent migraines. The first method is the least difficult in theory, but probably the most difficult in practice: reducing the amount of caffeine you eat. If you don’t consume a lot of caffeine, you don’t suffer much from withdrawal symptoms. It sounds easy because all you have to do is cut down on the caffeine. But saying you’re going to stop using caffeine and keep going are two different things.

There is another method and although it seems more difficult, in practice it is probably much easier than reducing it completely. The second method is to ensure that withdrawal never becomes a problem. You can do this by timing your caffeine intake over time. By ingesting a certain amount of caffeine at specific intervals throughout the day, your body will be satisfied and will keep a migraine headache at bay.

Some migraine sufferers have been tempted to put aside and engage in complete and total caffeine withdrawal. It seems like a pretty good idea. But let’s face it, abstinence always sounds better than it actually does. In theory, the abstinence program has absolutely no drawbacks; only when you start applying it in the real world do you get into trouble. For one thing, caffeine is addictive. The more you get, the more you want. And many times this urge is too overwhelming.

An even bigger hurdle is that it’s nearly impossible to completely abstain from caffeine unless you’re detail-oriented to the point of psychosis. If you plan to abstain from caffeine as a means of avoiding migraines, you will have to do more than just give up your coffee or soda. Caffeine is everywhere in today’s society. You will need to keep a close eye on the ingredients in chocolate candies, pain relievers, and diet pills. And that is just the beginning. You can also add things like spirits, energy drinks, and even pudding to the list!

At this point, you may reconsider the whole idea of keeping track of your intake. The schedule seems more difficult, but consider this: Would you rather keep track of how often you eat caffeine over the course of a day, or keep track of the thousands of products that contain caffeine?

The caffeine brewing method simply means that you keep track of how often and how much caffeine you take into your body. Once you find out how much you need and when you need it, your migraines should become a memory. Provided, of course, that you have determined that caffeine is the trigger for your migraine. There are some tips to make this process easier.

First of all, if your main caffeine delivery system is coffee, you’re in for bad news. Determining how much caffeine you are getting in a single cup of coffee is next to impossible and with this method you really want to be precise. Therefore, calculating caffeine numbers is easier if you get your caffeine through soda or caffeine tablets. Which one you prefer is up to you. Some people don’t like sodas, so the tablet is a better option.

On the other hand, most people probably prefer caffeine along with some liquid soda. Whichever medium you decide on, here’s what to do next. Keep a small diary in which you write down when and how much caffeine you consumed, along with information about any headaches you had; things like the time of day, how long the headache lasted, how severe it was, etc. This information will be your guide in determining when and how often you need that caffeine to prevent migraines.

The goddess complex

Are you one of the many women who suffer from a goddess worship complex? If so, have you ever wondered where it comes from?

Well … in the first goddess craze, most of civilization had no idea that sex had anything to do with babies, they thought women just created them, hence the title goddess. And perhaps discovering the fact that men had something to do with procreation led to their decline. There are a number of religions that have survived centuries of change and still worship goddesses today.

The oldest artifacts found that point to the worship of the goddess were the

• Figures of Venus dating from 500,000 AC to 1388 a. Today and yesterday archaeologists and researchers have found thousands of female figurines from the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods.

Venus Tan-Tan, which was not the first to be found, but the oldest of the goddess figures dating back to 500,0000-300,000 BC. Tan-tan is a six centimeter long made of quartzite rock, carved into a rough human shape that was discovered in Morocco.

The statue of Venus is 18 inches tall and looks like a contemporary woman looking up at the sky, wearing flared pants. The lines of the sculpture are exquisite. The goddess is considered one of the national treasures of Japan.

The researchers found the female matriarchy, a settlement dating back to 7500 BC in

• Catalhoyuk, Anatolia, in the modern central highlands of Turkey. They discovered several figures of female deities carved from marble, blue and brown limestone, alabaster, and molded clay.

• Artifacts of the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture were found scattered from the Carpathian Mountains to Dniester and Dnieper, now known as Romania, Moldavia and southwestern Ukraine, dating from 5500 until 2750BC. Some of these figurines seem to represent the mother goddess. Among the artifacts are several “Goddess Fetish” totems that are believed to have powers that can help and protect the people who care for them. They also found Bird Goddess, a double triangle (hourglass) design, and a bird’s hand bowl. They believe that the stone carvings of the Bird Goddesses were deposited on the ground and straw for magical purposes and used in magical-religious ceremonies. The “Goddesses of the birds” possibly embodied a solar principle and the resurgence of life, serving as a symbol of prosperity and protection. One very strange thing is that no male skeletons were found in the settlement areas and women and children were buried under the houses. One theory is that the tribal community was matriarchal, not warrior, and worshiped the “earthly” Mother Goddess and was annihilated by patriarchal worshipers of the God of Heaven.

The goddesses of the past have been a fascination around the world. Although many are no longer worshiped, they have been restored and protected for centuries in art, literature, festival celebrations, film, and now computer networks.

Bar terminology and bar lingo: words of the trade every good bartender should know

Like all professions in the world, the bartender has bar terms and terminology that every good bartender must know in order to do their job well. If you are not “in the know” in bar lingo, you will have trouble accepting orders from customers who are “in the know.” Customers who have been on the bar circuit for a while and have their favorite drinks usually order them in a specific way.

If someone asks for a “dirty martini, rocks”, they are not asking for a martini in a dirty glass with some pebbles; he wants a martini with some olive juice, served over ice. And if a customer asks for a “straight whiskey”, he is not saying that it is great that his bar carries whiskey, but that he is ordering a shot of whiskey without ice.

Learning the bar lingo is not too difficult, especially if the bar terminology is put to the test behind the bar from time to time. For the purposes of this article, we’re just going to list the most popular and widely used bar terms – things you really need to know but may not be able to figure out on your own.

Back: a ‘back’ is when a drink is accompanied by a small glass of mix (such as coke or water). For example, “Vodka rocks, water back”

Build: When you ‘build’ a drink, you prepare the drink, starting with the ice and then continuing to ‘build’ by adding the alcohol, mixes, toppings, etc.

Call drink: A call drink is when the customer calls the specific name of the alcohol and the mixture. For example, “Tanqueray Tonic” or “Bacardi Coke”

Hunter – A hunter, in rod terms, is anything used to ‘chase’ another alcohol, generally used to mask the taste or alleviate the force of what is being chased.

Dirty – Dirty is simply adding olive juice to a drink, usually a martini.

Float: To float something is to put a layer of lighter alcohol on top of heavier alcohol.

Free Pour – pouring drinks without using any kind of measuring device, such as a shot glass, a jigger or a measuring spout.

Frost: some pubs use ice cold beer mugs; These are mugs that are dipped in water, drained, and then stored in the freezer or refrigerator to create a frosting on the outside of the glass.

Garnish, anything added to a drink to enhance the presentation, commonly includes cherries, lime wedges, lemon wedges, olives, etc.

Jigger – A measuring device that is shaped like an hourglass that has two different measurements on each side. It is used to measure the amount of alcohol consumed in beverages.

Clean – neat simply means no ice – sometimes called Straight Up

Premium – A premium brand is a higher priced brand of liquor, also called a top shelf

Rim: Rimmed a glass means creating a border around the edge of the glass with anything from salt to sugar to candy. A common rimmed cocktail is a Bloody Mary or Margarita.

Rocks: anything on rocks means on ice.

Twist: Adding a twist refers to grating the zest of a lemon in a twist and inserting it into the drink.

Well Drink – Unlike the call drink mentioned above, a Well Drink is any drink that uses the bar’s “house” brand of liquor. The “normal” liquor that is used when the customer does not mention any brand.

Although we’ve listed a fair amount of bar lingo here, this list is by no means exhaustive. There are many more bar terms you may hear as a bartender, but they are not heard as often as the ones mentioned above. I hope this bar terminology helps you on your way to bar greatness!
