7 tricks to run during the summer

Despite the summer heat, many runners still want to continue their healthy routine. Although heat can seriously affect running performance, there are several ways to counteract the effects. Here are seven tricks for running during the summer.

  1. Run in the coolest time. One of the tricks you can do to avoid the summer heat is to run during the coolest part of the day. The good thing is that free software and some apps can display the high and low temperatures for the day or even the week so you can schedule your run accordingly. Sunrise and sunset are generally the coolest times. Midday is the hottest. But since weather changes can be abrupt, you’re better off checking out an app.
  2. Look for a shaded alternative route. Every runner has that favorite route. But when it comes to extreme weather conditions, he may need an alternate route to stay safe from the elements. During the summer, choose less open routes. Settle for more shade, such as areas with more buildings and trees. Nowadays, there are applications that can calculate the distance of the route using GPS. They also show images. Use the app to get the distance. That way, you’ll still get the same distance you run on your regular route.
  3. Wear sweat-absorbent clothing. Even by usual standards, sweatpants and baggy clothing are off limits. You don’t want them to move around and then get heavy and sweat-soaked in several minutes. Fortunately, sweat-absorbent clothing is now available in stores. Brands like Adidas, Nike, and Under Armor have running gear that wicks sweat away from your body and lets it evaporate onto your clothes. This will keep you cool, more comfortable, and lessen your risk of exposure to bacteria buildup. Most of these garments are lightweight and modern, adding more appeal to the technological benefits they already provide.
  4. Wear light and breathable shoes. If your clothes are on point, your shoes should be too. Wear running shoes that are lightweight and made of breathable materials. These types of shoes allow your feet to ‘breathe’. Good circulation prevents hot, sweaty feet and bacteria. Heavy and stiff shoes usually wear it down. The light and flexible ones allow you to accelerate and move more efficiently.
  5. Consume extra water. Even before running, you lose more fluids in the summer than in any other season. You lose about six to 12 ounces of fluid for every 20 minutes of running. Pre-hydrate before running. Drink an extra glass of water. Also look for potential ‘hydration’ stations. Drinking fountains along the way, or even a convenience store where you can buy water or sports drinks.
  6. Use sunscreen. The sun’s rays are good for you. But they can also be unforgiving, especially during the summer. Don’t forget to apply some sunscreen. Even a thin layer with a high SPF will help protect your skin from certain cancers and diseases.
  7. Run by feel. Surely you have a goal of pace, time and distance that you want to achieve. But before you try to get there, familiarize yourself with your career. Heat and humidity will affect your performance despite your best efforts. So don’t force it. Acclimatize by running at a slower pace. Adjust on the fly. If you feel like you’ll have to work twice as hard just to achieve your goal, dial it down a bit. Don’t force anything. Work on your goal slowly but surely.

Treat acne easily with these tips

Acne is a very common skin disease that appears on the face, neck, back, and chest. There are many factors that contribute to the development of acne. Some main causes of acne include hormonal imbalances, stress, cosmetics, genetics, age, and improper washing habits. The following tips will help you combat this skin condition.

First of all, you need to know what not to do to fight acne. The following are some of the most common mistakes people make when trying to fight acne. Hopefully, by the time you’ve finished reading this article, you’ll know exactly what not to do.

Avoid eating foods like raw onions, garlic, eggs, chocolate, and lepton. These types of foods contain high amounts of capsaicin, which is known to cause inflammation. As we mentioned before, inflammation causes pimples to develop.

Don’t worry about the little things. You may be tempted to apply more oil after an acne breakout incident because you want to prevent acne from coming back, but don’t. Just relax and let nature take its course, she will take care of the rest.

Exercise is a great way to lighten your skin. However, if you use strength training or training as a sport, you should watch what you eat to avoid excessive sweating.

Instead of wearing a lot of heavy makeup, which is used to hide acne, use natural makeup products that are made to control acne. Makeup has many chemicals that can aggravate acne. Instead, use natural products that have natural oils and creams mixed in.

Instead of brushing your teeth, which is often done in the morning, try drinking a tall glass of water instead of having your toothbrush ready. Your body will be hydrated and therefore cleaner than brushing your teeth.

Avoid eating fatty foods. Fatty foods tend to trap excess moisture in the body, which leads to the development of pimples. Instead, you should eat healthier foods and keep fatty foods at home.

Keep your hands away from your face. Dirty hands can clog pores and cause acne. If you still feel like touching your face, wash your hands before touching your face.

Opt for sunbathing instead of staying in the sun. This can be detrimental to your health and can also lead to acne.

Use the tips above in combination with others to help you overcome acne, especially during the adjustment period. Acne treatment should be part of a healthy lifestyle, so make sure you do everything you can to prevent it from occurring.

Jacksonville Jaguars ready for third attempt at AFC championship

The Jacksonville Jaguars call ALLTEL Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida their home and every time the players run onto the field in their teal, black and gold uniforms, the fans go wild. Florida fans are enthusiastic about their team and enthusiastically support it, regardless of how many wins or losses are in the record books. Although Jacksonville was first declared incapable of supporting a professional football team, the fans have shown unwavering support and devotion since day one. The constant demand for Jacksonville Jaguars tickets is just one way for fans to show the true depth of their commitment.

A fight at the beginning

5 cities were chosen in 1992 as potential sites for new NFL franchises. Jacksonville competed with Charlotte, NC, St. Louis, MO, Baltimore, MD, and Memphis, TN. Of all the possible winners, Jacksonville was the least likely in the eyes of almost everyone on the planet. Florida already had two other NFL teams, and Florida’s mighty college teams were additional competition.

The poor television market in the Jacksonville area was small and did not have high ratings, which was another black mark against the city in its search for a professional football team. There were also unprecedented issues over potential team ownership if the city was chosen. These issues nearly derailed the Jacksonville franchise train early on. In the later stages of deliberation, the city won its bid thanks in large part to fans who bought 10,000 Jacksonville Jaguars season tickets in just 10 days.

Highlights to Remember

Although the team never made it to the Big Game, they did make it to the AFC division championship playoffs. Between 1996 and 1999, ticket and merchandise sales for the Jacksonville Jaguars skyrocketed as the team posted win after win. Jacksonville amassed a record 4 consecutive postseason bids in 4 years and played for the AFC title in 1996 and 1999. They also made football history as the first franchise to make the playoffs 3 times in the first 4 years.

The 2008 Jacksonville Jaguars season

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2008 season was not the smashing success that many fans had hoped for. After a great run in 2007 and a 14-2 regular season record, hopes were high that this team would repeat or exceed the achievements of the previous year. This wasn’t going to be the case as the Jaguars faltered and ended 2008 as a team on the go.

Jacksonville Jaguar tickets were claimed earlier in the year as fans and some sports pundits alike hoped the Jacksonville franchise would take it all the way to the Big Game. The team was unable to meet these lofty expectations and struggled to find wins along the way. Even the Cincinnati Bengals, who were struggling during their own 0-8 season, managed to pull out a 21-19 victory over the hapless Florida team.

Like many of the other 2008 games for Jacksonville, the team played hard but “missed opportunities” made the difference between a win rather than a loss. All the losses the team experienced in 2008 must have been hard to take, but knowing that, once again, they were just inches away from putting the game in the win column had to be demoralizing. During the next game last season, Jacksonville was able to fend off the Detroit Lions with a “final seconds” field goal and pull off another win, but the effort was too little, too late. The 2008 schedule ended for the Jacksonville Jaguars with the bitter realization that their 5-11 performance was one of the worst records in the franchise’s brief history.

Jacksonville Jaguars ready to fight in 2009

The year 2009 holds tremendous promise as injured players are poised to return and new names are added to the roster. Fans who are ready to fight look for tickets available for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 2008 season may not have been the big win expected, but you can believe the Jacksonville Jaguars are itching to clear the air and savor victory once again. Being one of the teams contending for the AFC title will erase those lingering clouds of doubt hanging over Alltel Stadium.

The 10 best ski resorts in Switzerland

Switzerland is an incredible ski country defined by the majestic Swiss Alps. The winter months offer the opportunity for novice and expert skiers alike to discover some of the best white powder on Earth!

Here’s a breakdown of the top 10 resorts and ski spots in Switzerland. Thesis 10 rentals not only do they represent the best of Switzerland, but they are also some of the most sought after places in the world.

10 Arosa – Located in the eastern part of Switzerland, Arosa is a summer and winter resort. Steeped in tradition and history, Arosa creates an experience that cannot be fully digested without an extended stay. So how are the tracks? Arosa has over 50 miles of pristine terrain for you to fully immerse yourself in. The air is particularly pure and the slopes will challenge even the most experienced skiers. Nature lovers will also enjoy Arosa’s relative isolation compared to some of the other resorts on this list.

9. Gstaad/Saanenland– Are you looking for a ski resort where you can gain some experience without being subjected to extremely difficult courses? If so, then Gstadd might be the place for you. Its courses mainly attract beginner and intermediate skiers because the slopes are not as crazy as other places in Switzerland. Glitzy hotels, trendy shops, and fancy restaurants are a common sight everywhere. However, if money is no object, you’ll be pleased to know that the Gstadd/Saanenland area is one of the largest ski resorts in the Alps.

8. Murren – Murren is truly a picturesque sight to see. Located on a high cliff in the Lauterbrunnen Valley at over 5,400 feet. up in the air, this mountain village can only be reached by cable car. With some of the best hiking and sledding trails in all of Switzerland, you’ll have no trouble finding things to do when the snow isn’t at its best (summer months). However, during peak snow season, you’ll find that Murren offers some of the best snow and slopes, appealing to more advanced skiers.

7. Davos/Klosters – Davos is located in eastern Switzerland on the Landwasser river. Davos’s popularity has waned a bit since its heyday and the town is a bit run down. Klosters offers a better alternative and attracts many skiers from the Netherlands and the UK. This region offers wide slopes for the less experienced skier. There are plenty of things to do, including great hiking trails and exciting restaurants high up in the sky.

6. Laax/Movies/Falera – This area offers a wide range of summer sports. Ski and snowboard competitions are held during the winter months. Altogether, the area of Laax/Films/Falera occupies more than 130 m2. miles of excellent skiing opportunities. Vorab Glacier and Crap Sogn Gion attract much of the cross-country ski crowd, while Foppa and Nagens represent an incredible downhill alternative for beginner and intermediate skiers. Accommodations are reasonable and not as pretentious as Gstaad claims. If crowds aren’t your thing, make sure to book your trip during the weekdays, locals take advantage of the best snow conditions on the weekends.

5. SaaS fee – Saas-Fee is located in the southwest of Switzerland, next to Zermatt, and is home to the highest mountain in all of Switzerland, The Dom. What draws many visitors to Saas-Fee is the amount of glacial activity. The Dom and Allalinhorn glaciers allow sporting activities throughout the year, including summer skiing in some places. With a wide range of blue grade runs, Saas-Fee appeals to many intermediate and advanced enthusiasts. However, don’t be intimidated. There are also many slopes and training schools for beginners.

Four. GrindelwaldNext on my list is Grindelwald, which is in the valley of the Bernese Oberland, located very close to the center of Switzerland. With over 120 miles of world-class skiing, Grindelwald skiers have many different areas to choose from, with most choosing Kleine Scheidegg for a great skiing experience. What sets this place apart from the others are the slopes accessible only by helicopter. Griendwald has some of the best helicopter skiing in the world! Plus, you’ll be surprised to find that Grindelwald is a hub of activity. If you ever tire of the slopes, (highly unlikely) Grindelwald is packed with museums, world-class golf courses and a wide variety of other adventure sports.

3. St Moritz– Want to experience a resort steeped in rich history, world-class accommodations, and over 300 days of sunshine? If so, St. Moritz is the place for you! Located in the extreme southeast of Switzerland, St. Moritz is one of the most famous destinations in Switzerland. Beginners will enjoy the Corviglia area, where they will experience relatively easy slopes, while advanced skiers will soak up the mind-numbing bliss of Pontresina. The view is said to be majestic. However, as with many of the other high-end resorts in Switzerland, be prepared to spend quite a bit of money!

two. verbier – Finalist on my list of the best places to ski in Switzerland is Verbier. As one of the most popular Swiss resorts in the Alps, the slopes can get a bit crowded during peak season. The slopes are kept in perfect condition during the spring months and are a wonderful alternative to the sometimes crowded winter. The wide variety of unique and challenging courses suit both beginner and advanced skiers. Tortin has always been rated as a big draw for experts, while Verbier’s many ski training spots create a fun environment for beginners. Plus, great hotels, restaurants, sports activities and nightlife make Verbier one of the top ski destinations and tourist attractions in the world.

1. Zermatt – Have you heard of Zermatt? If you haven’t heard of Switzerland’s largest ski resort, now you have! Skiing is a year-round event in Zermatt. Enjoy the Sunegga and Gornergrat regions during the winter months and head to Theodul Glacier for a great intermediate adventure during the warmer summer months. With deep snow, a wide range of obstacles and challenges, and some of the cleanest, freshest air in the world, Zermatt caters to just about anyone. As well as incredible skiing, Zermatt boasts some of the most beautiful natural ice skating rinks and many other adventure sports activities such as rock climbing and paragliding. The world famous Matterhorn draws locals and tourists alike to climb this magnificent mountain. Nature lovers will appreciate the car-free community with incredible nature hiking trails. Visiting Zermatt is said to have a zen feel and that is why Zermatt is my best place to ski in Switzerland!

the fruit cake

Act I

At the hospital

[l993]

This is Lee Walters’ “hospital” room. Fourth [and, by observation the ward] is big, and let me add noisy -. I can’t say much about the hospital apparatus. Some of the equipment looks like pipes hanging everywhere, not sure where they go and could get neglected. A copy of the book, “Never-where,” is on the desk next to her bed. Lee is waiting to go home after surviving a stroke and heart attack; he had some complications with his surgery, but everything seems fine now; the doctor has explained to him that in fact he had a second heart attack, the first two weeks before the second, and he did not know it, he assured him less, compared to this most recent one, the greater it is, in which he arrived at the hospital on time .

He has been in the hospital for three weeks, having bypass surgery, and had a stroke on the operating table, but again I emphasize that he passed all these tests. You got it: –she’s getting bored, –now, for recovery, she has her own little miracles planted throughout the week. We’ll get to that in a moment. He wants the doctors to release him this morning. But just a minute, against the doctor’s better judgment, that is.

Now you see as the curtain goes up, Lee Walters trying to get comfortable on his bed, tripping over the pillows behind his back and a bit on his head. and miss fremont [let’s just refer to her as “Eva” make life easy] -standing in the doorway, shaking his head [thinking, what a dumb clucks, Lee is; we’ll get to Lee also in a moment] “Some kind of bug in your bed, Lee?” She says. He leans back hard against the headboard of the bed, boredom on his face, a sound comes out of his mouth, more like a whistle, I don’t think he liked the comment, but then he’s acclimating to them, or should be. now. This situation does not seem to amuse anyone, that is, her comments and her positioning; she sinks deeper into her bed –

No response

Eve. Leeward!

still no answer

Lee, relax please, it’s not good that you try so hard [remarks Eva again]

However, Lee’s silence still remains.

OK –(annoyed)–it’s your show, I don’t give a damn [says Eva].

Lee is a thirty-five year old man. He is a Postman who earns $35,000 dollars a year. He doesn’t have a mustache but he keeps rubbing his face like he’s having a nervous impulsive reaction. He is a hyperactive person by nature. His mouth is a little open, ready to say something, or he can’t seem to breathe properly through his nose. [one or the other]. In any case, it doesn’t help his already annoying state of being in the hospital for so long, twenty-one days. He has finally gotten comfortable and raises his head to eye level with his fiancée. [a light pause], focusing his attention on her face now. She looks a bit dumbfounded now that she has her attention: –lost for words one could say.

Leeward. Eve! Do you have something worth saying?

Unanswered

Eve!

still no answer

Eve!

Eve [with a tired attitude]. Monkey see, monkey do, isn’t that how it is in our world?

Leeward [shaking his head, indignant]. so you say [he sucks in a breath of air] Did you come here to point out my faults, or what?

Eve. You can find out for yourself, smart boy, for yourself.

Leeward. Of course I can [smugly]!

Eve. I was trying to find out how you felt and got your old snotty comments as usual; you brat, brat, shit.

Leeward. Geez, I thought you were worried if I had a bug in my ass, I mean in the bed. Really worried about my well-being, how about you admit that you are part of my boredom? I’m so used to your smart comments.

Eve. For once you’re half right, I forgot about the ‘error’ comment. Okay, you win, now let’s start– let’s start, again, you know, from scratch, okay?

Leeward. Oh boy, what does that mean? What awaits me, another round of trying to fix my pillow so I don’t get mad at you again?

The patient in the other bed is filling an ear.

Eve [somberly]. I can’t help but annoy each other. We are so used to making fun of everything that we have forgotten how to be serious. But I was crying when I heard you had a stroke on the operating table, along with your heart surgery, I really was, ask your brother. You know you were away for three days; –his left side of him was paralyzed–out [a slight pause]; It was like having… I don’t want to talk about it. You also had seizures for twelve hours; man or man, how lucky you are…!

Leeward. Yes, I know you were crying, I remember some of that. Dr. Bash, Bush or Bean Head, I don’t know his name [a pause, he tries to get his breath]ok, Dr. Bash came by last night and said I was fine, since I made it out of this alive. But he added, and I hate to repeat it, but I will, for a while there, I was a “Fruitcake,” I mean, for a while, I mean, a few days. Can you imagine someone calling you ‘…fruitcake?’ after you had a stroke?

Eve [looking straight ahead, thinking]. Good [pause]Now that you mention it, you were kind of, I mean, you really were kind of a ‘fruitcake’ [Lee looking annoyed at Eva]. I can’t do much about it, can I? But I suppose it would bother me a bit, I think. On the one hand you were a fruitcake, or outside of that, you were having these seizures, you know, or what do you call those things, you know, it makes the body jump. It wasn’t good. We all thought you wouldn’t recover, they [the doctors] they were going to put you in a coma because you had 12 hours of these tantrums; her brother was here, and—and he had a hard time as well as her mother, she was here every day, I mean every day, I think she would have died if you had; “I’ve seen some tears in your brothers’ eyes, but you fooled everyone and recovered in three days. Everyone says that you are the miracle of the room. And maybe you were a fruitcake, for a while, but on the other hand, you’re not anymore.

Leeward [his crabbiness showing]. Look, you never take my side, even when I’m sick. Good [pause; a moment to think], …and if I have another stroke, and I’m still a fruitcake forever, are you going to take care of this fruitcake or are you going to throw it away? maybe even let the fruitcake dry to nothing!

Eve. It really hurts me that you ask that question, or is it a statement [?]

Leeward. Good?

Eve. Can you hear me!

Lee isn’t sure what to say and, taking his time, looks down. He is beginning to realize that he had asked the wrong question and possibly the right one. And he assumed that the answer would be: ‘Yes, I’m leaving you.’ Both Eva and Lee are silent; she shakes her head ‘yes’. Rosario the nurse enters. She looks around her, then closes the curtain around her and leaves Eva standing alone in the doorway.

Eve. Can I be of help, Mrs. Nurse? [Lee shakes his head no to indicated to the nurse he does not want her there.]

Rosario Nurse. No thanks, Miss Fremont, I just have a few things to do. [She is taking his pulse and listening to his heart. He eyes her shape up. She has a nice well-formed figure, and her skin looks a bright-olive, she is all of twenty-nine years old. She is about five feet two inches tall, and she speaks slow, but confident.]

Understand the job of an Android developer

Android developers develop apps for Android phones. These phones run on the Android operating system and can download apps. Apps maximize the utility of smartphones. There are many apps now, each with a unique set of features. These may include games, maps, or GPS capability. The number of apps on the market is increasing as developers create new ones from time to time. Android developers can work under an Android development company, but some work independently, using their own resources.

Android phones, like iPhones, have become popular nowadays. People don’t just use their mobile devices to communicate. Today, they use their phones to play games or even download files from the Internet. Android competes with Apple’s iOS. Apple iPhones are also evolving, both in terms of features and the number of applications available on the market. There are also iPhone app developers, whether they work for an iPhone development company or work independently. The producers of Android and iPhone improve the functionality of smartphones and also push the competition between Android and Apple iOS further.

Android developers create a wide variety of applications. The most popular are Angry Birds, Skype, YouTube Mobile, The Weather Channel, Facebook Mobile, etc. App makers would come up with new creations, some of which would become popular. Many of these are games, such as Bubble Breaker, Super Slot, Sudoku, Space War, and Pieces.

Developing apps is hard work. Android developers don’t usually work alone, but instead work with programmers. Complex applications can take months to complete and require more than one programmer. On the other hand, an expert can only do simple ones with limited capabilities. Building apps requires the use of Android app development code, which is available online.

This process involves a lot of programming, so creators need to be proficient in the area. However, not everyone who knows programming well can immediately get used to the programming language used to create applications. Developers with different skill levels can make use of SDKs or APIs, which give them the tools to write programs. These tools give you access to the basics of creating applications. While you don’t have to be a programming genius, you do need to have programming experience to get started. The advantage of SDK or API is that it frees anyone from having to go through the complicated details of functions and interface.

The SDK or software development kit was released by the Android development team in 2007. It was enhanced and based on the Java development platform. That means programmers used to Java should be comfortable with the SDK, which runs on Windows, Apple, and Linux operating systems. The software development kit should be easy to obtain as it is available online.

On the other hand, those who don’t have much programming skills can still become a producer using the Inventor app. Introduced in July 2010, this web-based tool is available to everyone who wants to become an Android app creator. This is basically made for hobbyists. With its visual development interface, app design should be less of a hassle.

Capital Account and Current Account in Company

The balance of the capital account will always be an advanced credit entry in the accounts of the company, because the capital contributed by the owners is a liability of the company.

When a partnership is formed, each partner contributes some capital to the business. These initial capital contributions are recorded in a series of capital accounts, one for each partner. Partners do not have to put in the same amount.

In addition to the capital account, each partner normally has:

• A current account.

• A drawing account.

current account

It is used to record the profits retained in the business by the partner.

The main differences between the capital and this account in the accounting of companies are the following.

• The balance of the capital account remains static from one year to another.

• The stream continually fluctuates up and down as the partnership makes profits which are shared among the partners and each partner draws draws.

• Another difference is that when the partnership agreement provides for interest on the capital, the partners receive interest on the balance of their capital account, but not on the balance of their checking account.

drawing account

Spin accounts serve exactly the same purpose as spin accounts for a sole trader. Each partner’s draws are recorded in a separate account. At the end of an accounting period, each member’s drafts are cleared in his checking account.

Current account – Debit

Twist account – Credit

Therefore, the balance sheet of the company will be composed of:

• The capital accounts of each partner.

• The current accounts of each partner, net of transfers.

Accounting Adjustments for Member Loans

In addition, it is sometimes the case that an existing or former partner makes a loan to the partnership, in which case they become a creditor of the partnership. On the balance sheet, such a loan is not included as partners’ funds, but is shown separately as a long-term liability. This is the case whether or not the loan holder is an existing partner.

However, interest on such loans will be credited to the member’s checking account if you are an existing member. This is administratively more convenient, especially when the partner does not particularly want interest paid on the loan in cash immediately after maturity. Remember:

• Interest on a partner’s loans is recorded as an expense in the profit and loss account, and not as an appropriation of profits, although the interest is added to the current account of the partners.

• If no interest rate is specified, the partnership law provides that it be paid at 5% per annum on member loans.

Mining in Maine (Hedge Hog Hill Quarry)

Before making a trip to this neighborhood, it’s best to make sure you have a sturdy vehicle. Anything without four-wheel drive will have a hard time getting there. I would also make sure you have a spare tire along with the means to change a tire. A cell phone is highly recommended as well. You can always drive until the road gets rough, park to the side, and then walk. There is an open area, what looks like a gravel pit that is a good place to park. This mine may be difficult for some to locate, as it is overgrown and it is noted that few people make collecting trips to this location. That’s a good thing, because it means the area hasn’t been cleaned. The Hedge Hog Hill Quarry is located in Peru Maine in Oxford County. Few minerals have been found here, in my opinion it is a simple granite pegmatite, but still worth the trip. For one thing, the view from there is worth the trip alone. The fact that few people seem to come here is another draw. This is because you have to drive on a dirt road through the forest to get to the mine.

The minerals seen here are albite, almandine garnet, beryl, biotite, chrysoberyl, fluorapatite, microcline, muscovite, quartz, and schroll. That’s it, and on my journey I only found garnet, biotite, muscovite and quartz. So just because all those other minerals were listed, don’t count on finding them. The biggest prize in this place is the almandine garnets. Some very large almandine garnets can be found here. The open face of the mine is teeming with them, but don’t count on taking them out. It can be done, but it’s labor intensive and you’d better wear a pair of protective goggles. Not to mention, you can go through all that effort only to end up damaging the sample you’re looking for. I didn’t see any garnets worth that kind of effort, though some gem-quality samples are said to have been found in quart pockets. I found a garnet sample of this type in another mine of the grossalur garnet variety. This garnet was about the size of a golf ball and was of gem quality. I hammered around that thing for an hour without even making a tooth. The crystal rested in a quartz pocket. I left him there with a tear in my eye. The almandine crystals in the Hedge Hog Quarry are quite large. I would recommend digging through the talise piles. I can almost guarantee that you will find one of these great garnets. Simply because very few people have excavated in these mounds. This fact becomes obvious when you first arrive at the mine. In fact, I’d almost bet that the only excavation signs you’ll find are from my trip there over five years ago. I only spent four hours here, but I walked away with some great samples. My best was a whole, perfectly formed almandine garnet crystal, about the size of a golf ball. I thought I wasn’t going to do much better than that, so I left. I plan to return and spend more time on this site. Maybe I’ll take a tent with me and do a weekend.

Driving directions are as follows:

From the four-way intersection on Route 108 in western Peru, drive 3.05 miles south on Dickvale Highway. Turn left onto Mineral Springs Road and continue 0.95 miles to the intersection. Turn right onto Paradis (gravel) road and drive 1.05 miles to the abandoned shack on the left. park here. Walk up the main road from here about 150 feet to the quarry road on the right. Follow this logging road 270 feet to the fork, keep left at the fork. Continue 675 feet to the next fork, keep right. Walk 390 feet to the stone wall. Follow the path through the opening in the wall and go another 150 feet to the end of the obvious path. Continue straight up a steep incline following the trail for 360 feet to the quarry. (Maine Mineral Localities 3rd EDT. by WB Thompson, DL Joyner, RG Woodman, VT King)

These addresses make it seem very hard to find, but it really isn’t simply because there’s nothing else up here. Make sure you stay on the right path when the road forks and you won’t have any trouble finding the mine. I walked past the cabin and followed the directions until I reached the gravel pit area. I parked here, but don’t try unless you have four wheel drive. From here it is a short walk up a steep dirt road to the quarry. It’s essentially the top of a small mountain where the mine is. One side has been mined. The talice pile is located to one side and below. I shouldn’t call the area where I parked a gravel hole. It’s really just an open area that looks like a natural dirt parking lot. I assumed it was a gravel pit, because that was the only reason I could think of it being there. Perhaps it is what remains from when the mine was open and working. It would be a good idea to bring a secondary block and some bug spray. I can’t stress enough the bug spray. This is a wooded area and black flies and mosquitoes abound here. It’s also a good idea to bring a sifting screen. Especially when the main goal is to find garnet crystals scattered throughout the talise piles. You can also bring a chisel and a hammer although they are not necessary. A small shovel would be more useful. I highly recommend doing this trip. Garnet samples are worth a look, and you never know. You may get lucky and find some of the rarest minerals ever found here.

What are the functions of marketing intermediaries?

Do you know what marketing intermediaries are? This may be a strange word for many people, but with great importance in marketing.

A marketing channel is a group of interrelated organizations that directs the flow of products from producer to final customers. Channels are also called marketing intermediaries. The two main categories of marketing intermediaries are wholesalers and retailers. Wholesalers are individuals and organizations that primarily sell products. Retailers specialize in selling products to consumers. They usually resell products that they get from wholesalers.

Consumers often wonder if products would cost less if one or more marketing intermediaries could be eliminated from the distribution system. Would cars be less expensive if customers could simply buy them directly from the manufacturer? Maybe, but think about the practicalities involved. How many consumers would be willing or able to go to Detroit to buy a car? Or maybe Japan? If manufacturers offered cars for sale by mail order, how many consumers would buy one without seeing or trying it out? It would be impossible for automakers to sell vehicles directly to buyers across the United States or around the world.

Marketing intermediaries are vital in creating the utilities of place, time, and possession. They make sure products are available at the right time where they are needed. Eliminating middlemen does not eliminate the need for their services, such as storage, delivery and supply of a variety of products. The manufacturer, the consumer, or some other organization has to perform these essential services. Without intermediaries, most consumer purchases would be much less efficient. The products would probably cost more, not less.
