Directly in front of the falls a suspension bridge has been built to move through the areas on either side. The river is part of the early reaches of the Kaveri River and the falls rise during the monsoon season.
Access to the falls is from the private coffee farm and one person can walk up to the falls via a flight of steps with ease. These falls join the Cauvery River.
2. Nagarahole National Park – Travel to Coorg to see the most suitable and diverse wildlife that exists in all of India. Nagarahole National Park is one of the best wildlife reserves in the country which is frequented by many every year.
You will find multiple flat and shrub species, as well as several species of mammals, rare birds, crawlers, and reptiles. Within the park, there are also Asian elephants, Indian bison and the tiger. Other animals include the gray mongoose, striped hyena, leopards, wild dogs, spotted deer, jackals, wild boar, sambhar, Indian porcupine, and four-horned antelope.
There are more than 270 species of birds in this park which include endangered birds like Nilgiri Wood-Pigeon, Greater Spotted Eagle and Oriental White Backed Vulture. 3. Irappu Falls – Coorg travel guide becomes more fitting and beautiful due to the inclusion of the amazing Irappu Falls. Located in the Brahmagiri Range, this is a freshwater waterfall and also known as Lakhsmana Tirtha Falls.
Every year thousands of tourists visit the falls because of its stunning views and splendid beauty. In fact, it has remained one of the most popular pilgrimage sites over the years. The famous Rameshwara temple is located on the banks of the Lakshmana Tirtha river en route to the falls. During the Shivaratri festival, the temples attract a large number of pilgrims.
4. Tadiandamol Peak: With an elevation of 1748 meters, Tadiandamol Peak is the highest mountain peak in Coorg. The view from the top of the peak is simply mesmerizing and many tourists prefer to go trekking, even though the journey is steep and hard.
The historic and famous ‘Nalaknad Palace’ is also present at the foothills of the peak and has also remained an area of great interest to naturalists. The climb to the top of this peak can be completed in one day, although it is a pretty good camping spot for those who want to spend the night to rest.
5. Dubare Elephant Camp; A visit to Coorg without a visit to the Dubare Elephant Camp will seem boring and incomplete. It is truly an enchanting and fascinating experience for animal lovers and it is known for the magnificent training facilities in Dubare and the presence of many elephants.
Apart from elephants, you will have the chance to see other animals such as bears, partridges, peacocks, gaurs and spotted leopards in the surrounding forests. The Forest Department here is also known for doing some walking along the well-defined routes. Also, you will have the opportunity to get involved in other activities such as fishing and river rafting.
6. Raja’s Tomb: Located in one of Coorg’s most magnificent hill stations, this tomb represents the dominant building style of those days that were known as the Indo-Sarcenic era. Travel to Coorg if you want to see and admire the beautiful architecture and design of ancient tombs like this respectively.
Raja’s tomb, like the other two famous tombs, is built in the Mohammedan style, where the tomb is located in the center and towers are present at the four corners. It is located just 1.5 kilometers from Madikeri from the northeast side and can be reached by air, road or train. You will also find the mortal remains of the Royal Kodavas in the tomb.
