The rise of virtual reality?

Virtual reality, the idealized next step in both games and simulations. With the rise of the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Sony’s Project Morpheus, and the recent OnePlus Cardboard, VR is starting to find a place in the consumer’s home, rather than just with arcade and tech enthusiasts. .

The question is, and will be, if virtual reality is here to stay and how it will affect the current gaming market. TMR, a market intelligence company, has released a report estimating that the US virtual reality market was worth US$466.6 million in 2012. With growth forecast to reach US$5.8 billion Americans for 2019.

Such massive market potential is probably the driving force behind the wide range of companies jumping onto the VR scene. Everyone from Sony to Valve are currently developing or have released early products, such an array of high-impact game companies is a sign that VR has a place. While this anticipated growth is impressive, it remains to be seen whether this new technology will simply be a fad or a long-term gaming option.

According to this report, the constant rise of technology such as 3D effects and motion tracking are driving the rise of virtual reality. While the increase in disposable income is allowing more and more households to try this new technology. On the other hand, the cost of these technologies, demonstrated by Valve claiming that its HTC Vive is aimed at the high-end consumer, is expected to hurt growth and mainstream adoption.

The global spread of VR is obviously concentrated in North America and Europe, with both accounting for 69% of the revenue share. Thoughtfully surprising, Asia is listed as the region with the most potential due to growing online participation and the presence of Sony, which has Asia easy for its Morpheus Project.

This single report highlights that virtual reality has enormous potential, both for the companies that produce it and for consumers. However, it will ultimately depend on the content that will be available for these machines and the cost of those machines. Currently, an average consumer won’t spend the equivalent of an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 on a machine that offers only a limited range of games. If games like “Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes” prove anything, though, it’s that the right play style can work just fine with a VR headset. We look forward to the day Call of Duty can be played on a virtual reality machine, or maybe that’s not a good idea.

Always hit the “bull’s eye” with teleological nutritional targeting

Almost everyone can remember hearing “Eat the carrots, they’re good for you!”. Did she ever take those wise and meaningful instructions to heart and ask for another help or did her eyes cloud in mock belief?

What was once considered pure folklore is proving to be astonishingly true. True for carrots plus a cornucopia of other delicious garden delights.

What exactly is teleological nutritional targeting? Is it a game of bow and arrow or something out of a new age chemistry lab? It is neither.

The whole thing is pretty old news, some would even say it’s really old wisdom. It just hasn’t caught our attention in the last few centuries or so, until recently.

Teleological is the study of design or purpose in natural phenomena.

Nutritional targeting is “hitting the mark” of our dietary needs with nutrition-specific fruits and vegetables.

You can intelligently determine how a particular plant from nature’s bounty will follow its own individual requirements simply by looking at it. The exterior shape and design is the first clue and the interior shape and design gives the second.

The color also plays apart.

So, back to the carrot. Cut into “coins”, you can see that the interior design remarkably resembles the iris and pupil of the eye. Nutritional science wholeheartedly supports the role this vegetable plays in your eye health.

Isn’t it amazing how some foods resemble the parts of the body they help, such as:

  • Walnuts – an uncanny resemblance to the left and right hemispheres, upper brains, and lower cerebellums of the human brain. Compare the wrinkles (folds) in the inner nut and outer shell with the neocortex. Science has now discovered that the nutrients present in walnuts help develop more than thirty-six neurotransmitters for brain function.
  • Celery and rhubarb: A single standing “rib” suddenly appears as a bone. These foods specifically target bone strength. Is it any wonder bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium? If your body doesn’t get enough sodium, it pulls it out of your bones, weakening them. Feed your hungry bones!
  • Tomatoes: look inside and you will see a resemblance to the four chambers of the human heart. The red color of a vine-ripened tomato matches the blood that flows through it.

Whatever your need, there is a plant out there somewhere with the answer found in its matching design.

There is an endless supply of solutions!

Mother Nature has a story she longs to tell you by sharing the wisdom of what’s inside every fruit and vegetable. She is just waiting for you to ask her!

Once I tell you about its secrets, you’ll see fresh produce with a new meaning, a new enthusiasm. You’ll be spouting your newfound knowledge to everyone who pays attention to you (hmmm…wonder what the story is about the corn!).

Now, imagine going to the farmers market, where all the selections are organic. You choose onions with healthy skin, sweet potatoes that are elongated and six to ten inches long like the pancreas, fresh beans, and other information-rich garden offerings.

What joy!

Then come home and fill your kitchen table with delicious treasures. Make a list of the areas of your body that will get the attention that are hungry when you devour these delicious fresh foods.

Next, pull out your favorite cookbook and try to make a specific, nutrient-dense meal that’s really satisfying and tasty, too. Repeat daily.

Mother Nature, the “first farmer” in history, will thank you.

Film Financing: Can Film Graduates Rise to the Challenge?

Graduates of a Film Studies program have a new opportunity in film and video production. Of course, with every opportunity comes a challenge, and in this case, the challenge is finding financing for your projects or those of your employer.

With the advent of digital equipment, the scope of film and video production has expanded. Regular Hollywood-style film production is no longer the only path to a career for film graduates. There are a multitude of opportunities in audio and visual applications in business, government, and the entertainment industry. That means OPPORTUNITY for the most enthusiastic graduates to produce their own film and video projects, or to land the most exciting positions with major film and video production companies.

Financing has been a dirty word for years in the film industry. The ‘Blue Suits’ and the cold heart of the banker are synonymous with the enemy of the creative. However, in this new age of opportunity, it must be both the ‘blue suit’ and the creative.

How do you find a way to learn about movie financing, movie budgets, etc? Let’s first take a look at the Film Studies programs.

There are so many film studies programs available now that I find it confusing, and I have worked in the film industry for over 20 years. Universities are adopting a liberal arts degree approach in their curricula, and colleges/schools are mainly adopting a hands-on technical approach. In any case, it is indisputable that film studios are big business. The following excerpt from The New York Times Company, published
March 6, 2005©, made it clear to me how big the movie studio business really is:

“About 600 colleges and universities in the United States offer programs in film studies or related subjects, a number that has grown steadily over the years…At the University of Southern California, whose School of Film- Television is the oldest film institution in the country.” (established in 1929), half of the university’s 16,500 undergraduates take at least one film/television class.”

Which college, school or university will best prepare the graduate for a career in film and video? If a student has invested 2-4 years of her life in this career, how can she make it a worthwhile career?

Let’s see what the Universities say about their own programs and the type of results they expect, that is, what the Graduate will be capable of when they enter the workforce. This promotional letter, posted on a university website, says it all:

“A Film Studies major is not an occupational or professional degree. However, a good degree program in this discipline should qualify a student for a variety of vocational possibilities. Obviously, an individual will need to employ their knowledge of film in either a creative or practical capacity and, in any case, exercise the judgment and initiative that a rigorous career in Film Studies must develop”.

Using “should” twice in three sentences tells the story: It’s up to you, Bud!

Film studies programs (at any level) do not address, or do not address strongly enough, the main force behind all film and video production: MONEY! If the word money is mentioned, it is just a handshake and a nod. Most undergraduate programs make very little mention of the film budget, and things like cost reports and business plans are treated as completely foreign topics. Master’s programs are only slightly better.

The reason for the lack of information on things like movie budgets, cost reports, etc. in the academic sector it has its origins in the great Hollywood production machine. The perpetual negotiations with the three big unions (SAG, DGA and WGA), as well as with the crew unions IATSE & Teamster has forced the producing studios to be extremely confidential.

That era of total secrecy is not over, however, there is a huge demand to know more about film financing, film budgets, etc. The new generation of independent film and video makers want to make their own projects, find their own financing, and do their own budgeting and production cost reporting. It is even more and more possible for producers to distribute their own projects through the Internet.

Trust me, the film school graduate who has a thorough understanding of their film studies program AND understands the basic processes of film budgeting, cost reporting, and business planning, is light years ahead of the rest. A film studies graduate who can help put together a financing package (ie help put together a film budget and a simple business plan) would leave any independent film and video production company speechless. Can you imagine an Independent Producer who wouldn’t LOVE to get help preparing and submitting a funding package?

I used to assume that film students had no interest in film budgets and costs (of any kind). No longer. I recently did a survey of film students at a respected film school. These are the results of the survey:

More than 80% of students said they felt it was important to know more about budgeting and how it affected their careers as filmmakers.

Film and video production is one of the largest industries in the WORLD (after weapons manufacturing, of course). The widespread use of digital media has created a new opportunity. That opportunity, while less expensive than the Hollywood-style film productions we’ve grown accustomed to, is still expensive and requires financing. How do you get that financing? Where do you start?

Answer: Start with the basics of film budgets, cost reports, and very simple business plans. If you can calculate a focal point or learn to operate a video camera, a film budget is a piece of cake.

Based on my experience over the last 20 years in the film industry, I can confidently say:

1. Graduates of film studies programs who know the money basics of film and video production (budgets, cost reports, and business plans) will find that they can take on more responsibility for their film and video projects, and

2. As a result, they will have more successful careers than their peers who haven’t learned how to make Movie Budgets, who don’t understand any Production Cost Reports, and who have never seen a simple Business Plan.

So how does a film student get to grips with budgets, cost reports, and a simple business plan? I have been a production auditor for 20 years and I have NEVER shown a team member a final budget or weekly cost report (the universal standard financial report that is given to financiers and producers every week) in all that time. They are considered sacrosanct by studio executives, producers, and financiers the world over.

Well, I’m about to tease you with some relevant articles that will open the door for you enough to let you through. They’re written for complete beginners, so be patient if you’ve already been exposed to budgeting and cost reporting.

How can listing my business on a social networking site increase traffic to my business?

When it comes to your business, online marketing is no longer an option. Social networks provide you with backlinks for sites that Google indexes. However, the seeker also counts +1 actions. If your link performs well on social media, it helps you rank higher in the search engine. It’s not just Google+ that Google considers, either. Before the arrival of Google’s own social network, the search engine counted the popularity of content shared on Facebook and Twitter.

If your video, meme, or link goes viral, it will only help increase your visibility on social media and search engines. Going viral generates more traffic, and if you’re writing about something that others find newsworthy, you might find an article about your website in the Huffington Post, The New York Times, or a local ABC affiliate.

With tools like TweetDeck or the Buffer App, you can schedule posts to go out on your social channels multiple times throughout the day. Using different text appeals to different parts of your demographic while posting multiple times ensures that you catch followers who operate on different schedules or in different time zones. Technology allows you to tackle social media without sacrificing too much time for the work you already do, and we all know how addictive Facebook can be!

Social media is also necessary when it comes to connecting with local consumers. Even though they may walk by your office every day, these potential customers may not give your sign a second glance. Social networks like Facebook and Google Business help consumers in the area discover your business, while you should consider listing local businesses to gain visibility to people who might be looking for you on social media, search engines, and websites. review like Yelp. Don’t forget about local social networking sites to increase traffic.

Listing your business on these sites doesn’t just make it easier for people to find you. Google uses contact information, website URLs, and even reviews of your business that are collected from these sites to populate search engine results pages with information about your business. If your URL is on those sites because you’ve put in the effort to add the correct information about your business. This information also appears in apps like Google Maps, which help you connect with mobile users who might be looking for your address specifically or just a business in the neighborhood that provides the products or services you offer.

Increase the value of your home by upgrading your bathroom and kitchen

Is it time to sell your house? Whether it’s remodeling a home or trying to get a good price before a move, there are a few ways to gain value through a kitchen or bathroom remodel. Outdated kitchen and bath styles are the quickest way to make a home feel older and rundown. Here are some ideas to get you started with your renovations.

personalized design

A custom design makes the most sense when it comes to getting the most money for your home. Custom bathrooms are noticeable and make a difference in price. A real estate agent or home buyer will be able to tell if the tiles and fixtures were simply placed in the space or made for the space. Avoid outrageous designs that might make classic homebuyers uncomfortable. You never want a space to appeal to only one particular type of style. Exquisite stonework with classics like natural stone, granite, slate and travertine are always a good idea.

flat

The floor is important in a bathroom and linoleum is out. Linoleum in the bathroom or kitchen can make an entire house look old-fashioned, ugly, and dirty. Hardwood can take a real beating in these spaces and look old and worn quickly, even after refinish. It is best to place ceramic, porcelain or natural stone tiles instead. These will hold up to a lot of foot traffic, clean up well, and always look good. They appeal to modern home design and can go with just about anything a home buyer wants to decorate with.

bathtub

Bathrooms can be purely conventional, or they can be home spas and relaxation areas. One way to create a fancier and more expensive feel is to create a separate bathtub and bathroom. A hot tub can be a place to relax and separate yourself from the conventional use of a shower. Travertine or marble are great custom mosaic jobs for a custom bathroom tub. Mosaic tiles work well to add a decorative flair to a bathroom wall. IF the home buyer finds your space relaxing, they will be excited to buy it. Make the bathroom, especially the master bathroom, a place they want to be.

kitchen countertops

As with flooring, linoleum is out. A granite kitchen countertop is your best bet. It looks great and is very practical. Choose a neutral color that can go with any style your home buyer may have. Make sure it matches the cabinets, hardware, and flooring. Replace old cabinet hardware to match your new countertops. The kitchen is the most used room in the house. Make it as modern, comfortable and conventional as possible.

Selling your home can be an overwhelming process. Start with these bathroom and kitchen tips to increase the value of your home. You can always add something of your own personal style and ideas. With the right planes, rocks, and accessories, you can easily get the most bang for your buck.

Bad news for network marketing

With the explosive hypergrowth of the Internet, information that used to take days and weeks to reach people researching businesses takes seconds. If the MLM company changes their compensation plan or there is some slander (true or false), the masses will have access to that information simply by stumbling across a website.

Why prospects never start

This is why a large percentage of potential new reps never get started, see a negative article or website that most of the time isn’t true and have either lost them, or will have to explain why the claims are false and it’s just part of the natural order of things in our industry, true, but the new person coming from a typical 9-5 environment will be easily discouraged.

Friend or foe of the Internet?

I’ve seen top leaders jump ship from other MLM companies and videos are posted all over YouTube, people see this and companies suffer, reps who were earning good residual income waiting to retire etc lose their income from overnight. The Internet is like a double-edged sword for MLM companies, but it’s not all doom and gloom. There is a place where you can protect yourself if something happens to your business. Even if you lose your entire downline, the money keeps coming from multiple sources. There are systems and tactics that make you sleep much better at night.

Intimacy and central wounds

Unlike the kind of partnership and dependency that many of us seek to supplement our lives, the love and romance addict looks to someone outside of himself to provide the emotional stability he lacks within. Working to escape their own emptiness, they can find troubled or emotionally challenged partners to focus on, thus giving others what they most want for themselves.

“I didn’t know marriage would be so difficult.” — To the client

Entering into a long-term intimate relationship at first seems alive, secure, and grounded. However, as each person grows and deepens, communications between couples become more challenging, full of conflict. What happens? As a child, you witness and absorb your parents’ relationship, you experienced how the family expressed their feelings and beliefs, which informed your beliefs about intimacy. One client told me that her husband believed that they did not have to work on her marriage. That they might just slide, let the conflict go. You don’t have to argue, change or grow. It just is what it is. However, doing nothing, not choosing, not communicating, leads to numb, dead, empty relationships. Look around. Read the statistics. One in three couples is divorced.

Romantic love, true love, and happy endings come as the last part of a long-term relationship’s journey. However, it comes after many trials and tribulations of learning the wisdom of life. We enter relationships with different DNA, genes, family patterns of origin, wounds, beliefs, values, and attitudes than our partners. At the beginning we say, this person will complete my life, fill in the gaps. Two years pass until all the shadows disappear: the deepest feelings/beliefs of the core wounds, the unresolved childhood memories, come to the surface. These behaviors and emotions begin to manifest in the relationship through unconscious patterns and defenses that prevent love from growing. Your husband becomes your father. Your wife becomes your mother. Emotionally, you act out childhood wounds that never healed. We are blinded, denying who we marry or commit to. We see fantasies, delusions, and true love stories that fail us in adulthood.

I believe that we are brought into our relationships through destiny. We are attracted to another at first by various physical characteristics and values. For the most part, we are not aware of what is hidden below the surface. Your conscious mind represents the “idea” of love and relationship, but it is your subconscious learned beliefs that eventually begin to control the dynamics of the relationship. You are surprised when you realize that your partner is addicted, cold, distant, unforgiving, reserved, needy, authoritarian, or, or, or… The signs, the doubts and the fears push you away. about the other, everything that feels restless, nameless and uncomfortable, you ignore. You believe that everything you care about about your partner will change, disappear, or disappear once you are united in marriage. Yes, at first, you see the heart and soul of the person. The goodness of who this person really is.

But, you are here to solve the human dilemma that each person has. You are the mirror of the strengths and weaknesses that your partner brings to the relationship. Intimate relationship is a journey. It is a spiritual path to awaken all that is hidden and uncomfortable. It forces us to get out of the box, open our hearts deeply, heal and grow. The triggers that your partner will activate in you require the knowledge of intimate communication for the relationship to thrive; the language of expressing feelings, needs and desires.

To understand what it takes to grow, change, and keep the sparks alive in a marriage or committed relationship, it begins with understanding deep wounds.

Central wounds: the center

A central wound begins in childhood. It is any hurtful, neglected, neglected, or abusive behavior that has caused some kind of damage to self-esteem. We all carry core wounds. Once a central wound is activated, the original place, memory, event, or series of events is lit. A couple may have a certain tone of voice, body language, or values about money, and the time they spend together decreases: sexuality and affection decrease. Suddenly you feel that you are trapped, you feel emotionally repressed or numb. It’s a domino effect, everything within you that has been hurt and neglected rises up, and what was in denial comes to light. That other no longer seems to be the answer to your dreams. That is when the real work of true love begins in a long-term relationship. When each person has to face the realities of the hurts, needs and feelings of others. Judgments, blame and resentments accumulate. This is the time to find the deepest and most important aspect of commitment; to uncover core wound healing and family patterns of origin. Become allies on a healing/spiritual journey of true love.

Center wound: There are layers of trauma, memories and experiences that form a central wound. There are feelings, thoughts, behaviors and patterns that defend and protect the central wound because it is too painful and too big for the child to feel. The child, when first hurt, cannot bear the amount of emotional pain, so the child finds coping skills, behaviors, and defenses to overcome these hurt emotions. Usually the child will act out what she learned from the family pattern; some families hold back, some get angry, some manipulate, some blame, some care, some are superior and in control, the patterns are endless. Unless the original feeling, belief, experience, and memory are released, the core wound transforms into unconscious, defended, and destructive beliefs, actions, and feelings.

Core wounds are deep, cellular emotional scars and experiences that have shaped beliefs and feelings that become patterns. It is layered to reach a core wound (memory/experience), to release it emotionally, energetically, psychologically, and physically. To change negative thoughts and feelings about oneself, a person must be willing to go back and recapture the original self, the authentic self from before the trauma occurred. Vigilance and determination are needed to uncover core wounds. It is not a comfortable process. That’s because it took many years, energy and protection to survive the central wound.

Wounded Core Beliefs: I am not kind. I am worth, I do not deserve. I’m bad, I’m wrong, everyone hates me, I’ll never get what I want, I’m stupid. I have to be good to be loved. Those are core beliefs. These beliefs are sometimes conscious, sometimes not. Tara Brach, PHD calls it “the trance of unworthiness.” Sometimes she may be aware of a core wound and where it started, and still not be able to change it. Consciousness does not necessarily change beliefs. This is where the risk comes in. Releasing the central wound, you have to go deeper into the muscle of the fascia, the cellular energy of your family pattern and learn to feel, express and receive. You have to tell the truth. This requires courage and a willingness to receive and take responsibility for the consequences of your expression. Core wounds are specific to each individual, to personal history (about money, relationships, creative potential, intelligence, and body image) to the specific beliefs that families teach their children, directly or indirectly by what they say, how they treat you, how they reflect on you: they validate or invalidate you.

Unexpressed hurt emotions: The feelings that accompany the central wounds; self-hatred, grievance, rage, pain, fear, terror. These are the feelings that are mostly kept numb, so the person doesn’t feel the negative belief or feel the memory or experience that traumatized them. The child cannot retain these feelings or express them; they freeze, flee or attack and fall asleep in order to survive. Start covering the wound…

Hurt Behaviors: Then there are the behaviors; control, power, manipulation, isolation, reaction, defense, paranoia, guilt, non-follow-through, hypervigilance, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, meltdown, attack, fast talk, no talk, habits, idiosyncrasies, denial, delusion, lying. Rejecting or clinging behaviors, exaggeration to one or the other extreme. A type of thought and behavior of one or the other. Lack of vulnerability, forgiveness and acceptance. Judgment controls every thought and feeling.

Injured family patterns: Then there are the patterns; victim/victimizer, special/worthless, retainer, addict, martyr, pleaser, savior, abuser, seducer. These are mostly unconscious behaviors and should be conscious. These patterns are known as codependents. Most do not see these behaviors in themselves. They see it in others but are blinded to their own participation and action by them. These are deep patterns of defense. They are energetic, long-term and generational. They must be changed, layer by layer, one step at a time, with each situation, relationship, and event that occurs.

The memories, for example: your memory of the beating, the verbal criticism, the emotional judgments, all the abusive rejection, the details of how you felt hurt and abandoned are unique to you. These memories hold feelings and beliefs that shape your self-esteem and image. Each builds the central wound. It solidifies it each time, triggers it when something similar reminds you of that experience or memory, then you react. There is a saying: “When you are bitten by a snake, you are afraid of a rope.” This is how a damaged central memory works. You may not even know why you’re afraid of a rope until you unfreeze the original memory of being bitten by the snake. Of course, there are layers to this for each person. It is not just an event, and at the same time an awakened one, the memory of the feeling body can open many; It has a domino effect. That’s why it’s important to take one step at a time. The pain of the original abuse or injury can be overwhelming. The knowledge, the feeling, the reality that one has been abused can be known in the mind, but once it hits the body it can be very explosive and shocking. Compassion, patience, and opening up to oneself takes a lot of energy. At the same time, repressing all these wounds takes a lot of energy, which can cause exhaustion, physical symptoms, depression, anxiety, addiction, etc.

For the most part, these complex behaviors and feelings are created to protect, defend, and keep the injured child safe. This is how he/she learned to cope, survive and remain numb to trauma. Most of it is unconscious. The person doesn’t even know that he is feeling or acting destructively. They may know that they are unhappy and not getting what they want, and they know that they have been abused, but they cannot identify, place, or feel any of the above. The process consists in bringing to the conscious what is unconscious. It takes courage and risk.

In an intimate relationship, you are bringing all of this to the table. Unless you are willing to go on this healing journey together, with your partner as an ally and guru helping you to see yourself through all the veils of defense in a subtle way, the relationship will remain frozen and die. Intimacy is a constant awakening. It is for those who have the courage to feel uncomfortable, vulnerable and find the strength to open their hearts to all that is painful and joyful.

To truly love deeply you need to feel your heart broken. This heart softens, awakens and allows the most fiery, intense and passionate emotions to exist in the relationship. Intimacy is messy, exciting, and terrifying. It is the most exciting journey of life.

Electronic press releases for authors

A well-produced online press release can increase an author’s speaking engagements, improve book sales, and expose you and your book to massive target audiences on the Internet.

As an author, you need to prepare Internet press releases because many print publications that include book reviews have also become online publications; and many publications today are only online. Publishers of none of these publication formats are likely to welcome traditional print news releases as warmly as publishers of print publications have in the past.

When preparing press releases for online distribution, traditional press release preparation rules should be followed if you intend to turn such advertising into a means of securing public speaking events. Publishers aren’t interested in promoting an author’s latest book unless that book promotes an innovative way to improve people’s lives. In other words, be sure to promote yourself and frame your message in a press release that makes it seem newsworthy so the publisher will see it as interesting to a large number of their readers.

So, as you can see, before your press release reaches the readers of the publication you’re soliciting, your message must interest the editor. As you go about preparing your online press release, you need to give the editor and the audience reasons to continue reading your press release. Good writing skills and knowing how to build a press release are the first and most important ingredients in creating strong news stories, electronic or print.

Before you start writing press releases, set some standards: 1) make a list of the facts related to the news you’re publishing, 2) figure out how to present those facts to an editor, and 3) determine an effective method for framing what you’re publishing. want. you have to tell the readers of the publication you are pitching to. Please continue to refer to their standards as you write and produce your online press release.

Your introduction to the press release should be a brief “what’s your news” statement. For example, “Author’s new book illuminates old angles on historic photographic preservation.” Assuming that the audience understands the photographers, the protagonist can interest them. In the second statement, he gives the author’s name and a brief summary of the book.

Now you need to show the publisher your connection on a personal level with your readers. Using the photographer’s hook, talk to readers about historical family photographs. Almost everyone has family photos and hardly anyone knows what to do with them or how to share them. You can connect with readers on whatever topic your book is exploring: fishing, biking, relationships, kids, stamp collecting, or other topics. You can find a connection if you think about it. And finding connection with readers is the first step in finding connection with people in groups who will invite you to talk to their organizations about your book.

When the traditional press release writing requirements are met, you can move on to preparing press releases online. For those preparing electronically for print publications, there are a couple of rules. Submit the text in a WORD document. To give the editor some options, please submit more than one clear, good quality photo in 300 dpi.jpeg format. Do not embed images in the text. Image embedding causes technical issues and we all know what happens with problem submissions. Send images and text in separate files, which can be done as email attachments.

If you have a website or publish articles in ezines, you may want to investigate PDF (Portable Document File) or html formats. With PDF, you can design a stand-alone document that can be uploaded to your website or emailed to your list. With the html format, you can embed a video into your web article, along with text and still images.

Remember, don’t overwrite your text. Using too many descriptive words may increase the word count of your press release, but it will not increase its value. In most cases, adjectives and other flowery descriptions are throwaway words and phrases for publishers. Also, it is a challenge for search engines to locate the keywords in your post. Take a look at press releases, SEO and keywords for additional ideas.

The most basic rule of writing to secure public speaking engagements is to provide contact information: name, address, phone, fax, email, and website address. Failure to do so can land your electronic press release on the side of the cyber highway as unread garbage where no group is looking for public speakers.

Ways to support someone with depression

A disabling and isolating disorder, depression can jeopardize relationships if not managed well. A person living with a depressed person may feel abandoned and deprived and, in turn, take an indifferent approach. Sometimes he or she may feel like walking on eggshells because of the attitude and reaction of the depressed person. However, it is important to understand that with a little care and some effort, the relationship can be saved. Here are some steps that can be taken to extend support to a depressed person:

  • Trying to be there with them: Depression can become distressing for depressed people and their loved ones. However, support can still be provided by holding hands, providing reassurance that all will be well through the eyes, or giving a gentle back massage. You can also say comforting words like, “You’re not in this alone,” “We’ll find a way together,” or “You mean a lot to me.”
  • Try small loving gestures: Some people are not very comfortable with emotional expressions. You can still extend your support by trying gestures like preparing a lunch for the one who is down, leaving a note of affection or love in the lunch box, texting after regular intervals, helping with the laundry, doing the grocery shopping for or with them, accompanying them on walks, etc.
  • Avoid judging or criticizing: It can be very tempting to tell a depressed person that they are exaggerating or have no perspective; however, these words can pierce a person’s self-esteem. Therefore, these should be avoided. Depression is a serious mental disorder that cannot be overcome by changing your attitude or developing strong willpower. It is important for a friend or loved one to validate the depressed person’s feelings and emotions so that they can think about moving on.
  • Paying attention to your self-care: Depressed people often find it hard to pay attention to self-care. They may not get out of bed all day, skip meals, not shower for days, etc. This is the time when a friend or loved one can pitch in and help you make your bed, eat something warm and nutritious, take a shower, exercise, and meditate.
  • Reward them instead of punishing them: Threatening a depressed person with things like “If you don’t take care of yourself, eat dinner, sleep on time, I’ll end this relationship” is a ruthless way of telling them that they’re horrible. Instead, one should use affirmations that are rewarding and encouraging at the same time like “Oh! You’re up early, shall we go for a run?” or “Wow, you cooked dinner, should I help you with the dishes?”
  • Encouraging them to challenge their negative thought processes: Depressed people have serious negative thought patterns. It’s important to have a friend or loved one help you challenge these thoughts empirically. For example, if they say, “I’m worthless” or “I’m horrible,” politely ask them what makes them think that way, and this discussion should help break negative patterns.

depression is curable

Depression is treatable and one should never question the power of treatment. Although self-help and support systems can help relieve symptoms, none may be as helpful as therapy such as cognitive behavior therapy and medication. Therefore, one must help the depressed to seek treatment.
