Every time we experience problems it is due to our own feelings. If we continue to feel helpless in the same situation, this indicates that our feelings have become habituated and we have had no choice in how to respond.
However, this will change, will it not? You may be curious about the new and simple technique shown below. 😉
People often intend to change their limiting feeling responses, but unfortunately get stuck in behavior patterns by talking to themselves and others with “why?” Questions.
“Why do I keep feeling like this in that situation?!” “Why can’t I change?” etc.
oops! These types of thoughts tend to create neurotic loops.
Another way that is often more helpful (ie, gets a desired result) is to modify the structure of the thought pattern.
If you think about it, all of our thoughts can only be made up of the five senses. Visuals, Sounds, Feelings, Smells, Flavors. Perhaps even the so-called subtle energy experienced in healing systems like Reiki is still experienced by the mind within the five senses.
By becoming aware of some of the specific features of a thought process, we can change that structure. For example, we might find out whether the images we were making in our heads were still images or black-and-white or full-color movies.
The following technique allows us to change our feelings by representing them in sounds. Go ahead and check out the technique now, I’ll give you a little explanation later.
music tempo changer
1. Choose a situation in which you have a certain feeling that limits your ability to respond with choice.
2. Become aware of the feelings in your body. Where do you feel the feelings? Notice how the feelings move.
3. If you allowed yourself to represent feelings in music, what music would you listen to? Just let some music come to your mind.
4. As you listen to the music inside your mind, pay special attention to the rhythm.
5. Now think about how you want to feel instead of the current feeling. What kind of rhythm represents that desired feeling? Now listen to new music with that new beat.
6. Keep playing the new music in your head while you think about the situation you chose in step 1. Five to twenty seconds is usually enough.
OK that’s great, now think of something totally different like what did you have for breakfast yesterday?
And now think about the situation you selected in step 1 and see how your feelings have changed.
Representing feelings as music allowed us to become aware of a rhythmic structure. And because we associate that musical beat with our feelings, they changed when we changed the beat!
Nice, simple and effective, right?
Now what would happen if you applied this technique on 3 other ‘constraints’? Would your unconscious begin to learn the strategy and then begin to generalize the pattern to other areas of your life or would it begin to happen while you sleep and dream?
Now, WHY would be a useful question to ask now?
